I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

Today, I will be sharing how I decorated the Front Porch for Easter for under $15 and few sneak peeks of the Living Room, which is finished ...

In my last post, I shared how I organized some drawers and what I found in them....

I want to Thank Angie, over at God's Growing Garden, for choosing my post, "Found Treasures" as one of her features from last week's Tuesdays with a Twist Link Party!!!

Thanks again, Angie!!!

Please stop by and link up to this great party!!

Last week, I started the change over from Winter/Valentine's decorations to Spring/ Summer.....

Decorating for Easter involves packing away the Winter/Valentine's decorations, cleaning and changing over drapes/curtains and linens to Spring/Summer ones in the Living Room....

I started last week on Tuesday....

Tuesday, Day 1......Packed away all of Valentine's in the Living Room

Wednesday, Day 2.....Packed away all of Valentine's in the Dining Room because the decorations from these 2 rooms are stored in the same area of the attic. I also hauled everything back up the attic....

Thursday, Day 3....Packed away the 7 foot pencil thin Tree from the Dining Room in the BODY BAG in which I store it...

Yes, body bag....

It fits perfectly.....

Did I mention that I worked in a hospital as an RN in Direct Patient Care for 41 years????

LOL!!

Joe, taking it down to our storage shed....

I often wonder if any new neighbors think he is disposing of my body after rigor mortis set in....

Joe brought this ugly plant stand, that I bought at Ollies for I think $5, back up from our storage shed.....

I put a glass table round on top of it and cover it with a tablecloth and a topper to create a round table in this corner...

I will be setting up my pink tabletop Easter Tree on it...

It will stay here until after Halloween when I take down my silver table top Halloween Tree and decorate for Christmas again....

It also provides a lot of storage underneath it once covered....

I store a few of my smaller Trees underneath it until it is time to bring them out again....

Also on Day 3, I switched the Fall/ Winter drapes and curtains in the Living Room over to Spring/ Summer ones after packing away the Winter ones, cleaning the inside of the door and window and the mirror.....

I did not do the outside because it was 20 degrees in the morning that day....

Aqua drapes on the faux window.....

I also changed the ivory lace curtains that divide the Living Room from the Dining Room over to peach lace ones...

By just changing the color of my drapes/curtains in the Living Room, it creates a whole new vibe to the room...

Friday, Day 4......Changed over the doilies, tablecloths, toppers and scarves from Winter to Spring/Summer, cleaned and polished furniture....

Saturday, Day 5....Decorated for Easter, doing the table vignettes and the hutch, hanging wreaths and starting the top of the TV Entertainment Center.....

Sunday, Day 6....Decorated the 3 Trees and the platform under the 7 ft. slim Tree for Easter in the Living Room including the garland on the TV Entertainment Center....

Monday, Day 7..... It was a beautiful day.... Sunny with temps in the low 60's!

I was going to start the Dining Room..

But I changed my mind......

The rest of the week has rain predicted almost every day...

So I took advantage of that and packed away the remnants of Christmas decorations, like garland and snowmen, that I left out as Winter decorations, along with the Winter decorations....

I then swept the porch, moved a few things around and decorated for Easter after Joe hauled everything back down to our storage shed and brought back the other chair and table.....

So today, I will be starting my Easter Room by Room Home Tour with the Front Porch......

Now I do not do a lot of decorating outside for Easter because I live in NEPA!

This is why.....

Our highest record snowfalls happened in March with 2 Blizzards!!!

The Blizzard of 93 was also in March , dumping 26-28 inches of snow on our area!!!

And it is not uncommon for us to still get snow in April!!

In fact, up til 2 years ago, I hardly decorated outside for Easter because of this...

Front Porch , 2022....

In May of 2022, Joe came home with all of this from Big Lot's!!!

You can see how proud he is of himself after buying all of this at 90% off!!!!

So last year, 2023, I decided to decorate a bit more outside using some of the signs he bought!!!

$1.50

$1.50

$1.60

He bought these the year before for 90% off...

80 Cents

$1.20

I bought this for a $1.00 at a church flea market many years ago...

For a total of $7.60.....

I did add a few more things....

Joe also bought this lawn stake for 90% off, $1.00....

The rabbit was on top but broke off so I put it in the pot....

I left the greenery, that I cut from the side of the road in the Fall, in the pots instead of leaving them empty.....

We can not even think of planting any flowers here until right before Memorial Day because of the threat of frost....

This is a lawn stake that I bought last year in Dollar Tree....$1.25....

I made the egg wreath many years ago....

The "weeping" mortar, that was in style in the 70's when our townhouse was built, enables me to hang things on the front of the house....

Last year, I made a bow out of pink and green ribbon from Dollar Tree.....$2.00 ( bought before they increased to $1.25)

I placed this sign, which has a stand in the back, on the table.....

I have had the Easter flag for several years....

In the corner of the porch.....

I was able to make a second bow from those 2 ribbons....

And another Dollar Tree lawn stake......$1.25....

I also changed out the Winter mini flags for Spring/Easter ones....

Mini flag...Ollies for $$2.99!

And that is all I did outside for Easter......

For $14.09

 Not too bad!!!

  1. Your front yard has the hope and promise of Spring! I always remind myself on the warm days about my friend Marilyn. She was expecting her second child the first week of April. It started to snow and she went into labor. By the time she left her farmhouse, they had to borrow his brothers four wheel drive truck with a CB radio. They could barely make it down the road and up the next road to the highway. By the time they got to the highway, a snow plow was waiting to plow the way to the hospital where her daughter was born ten minutes later. I never start really thinking about Spring until mid-April. And like you, if we get plants too early, it is a constant shuttle to the garage to avoid the frost. One year I went early for hanging baskets and every night I would have to move them to my dining room table. You can imagine the mess.
    It looks lovely!

  5. Your porch is gorgeous, Deb! I love all the bright colors and the touches you've added to make it extra special. It looks like such a fun and festive way to celebrate the spring season. I can't get over all the stuff Joe finds. He could teach a class on how to be an expert shopper! Hugs, CoCo
