Granddaughters will be able to look back on to learn about who I

And now for a few Personal Notes...
For the New Year, I am trying something different with my 3 times weekly posts....
On THURSDAYS,
I will feature what I cooked and ate during the week, showcasing local
cuisine and a few recipes for things that I actually made...
I decided that on SATURDAYS, I will showcase What I Have Been Up To in the past week, sharing events and places I went to, if any....
On MONDAYS, I will be featuring What I Have Bought or Been Gifted Recently, if anything...
Even though today is THURSDAY, I honestly do not have anything to share in the way of new food....
Sorry....
I do want to mention that the BIGGEST thing in NEPA these last 2 weeks was the BIG BOY!!!!
The Big Boy, one of only a few of the largest Steam Locomotives ever built, traveled across the Country to Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton , Pa., where it stayed for 2 weeks, along side Steamtown's own Big Boy, which has a permanent home in the National Park Site....

Over 110, 000 people came to see these 2 Big Boys during the 2 week stay!!!
Even though it is FREE to visit Steamtown, as it is a National Park, tickets for $1 each were sold online to control the crowds..
This was a much needed HUGE economic Boom for NEPA!!!
My late husband Joe and I did take our sons there when they were in their early teens but it is on my Bucket List to go back and not only tour the Steamtown site but also the Electric Trolley Museum
The Trolley Museum is located next to the Steamtown site....
And all of this is located only 2-3 blocks from where my son Joey works at the Chancery for the Diocese of Scranton.....
The Marketplace at Steamtown, formerly the Steamtown Mall, is directly across from the National site and has an observation deck that overlooks the trains....
In the Marketplace, is The Electric City Aquarium and Reptile Den!!
You can visit these 3 places all in a day here in NEPA...
And I INTEND to do so in the Fall......
Can you believe it is July already!!!
July is coming in blazing!!!!
So this is how I feel about July right now!!

I also want to wish my Canadian friends a Belated Happy Canada Day!!
I hope you were able to celebrate it with those that you love!!
Today, I am going to be sharing my annual Summer Patriotic Home Tour for America 250!!
I am going to start off with my July 4th Front Porch, which I decorated the other day before it hit 90 degrees!!!!!
I was out there for 45 minutes with my neck fan on and got a headache, felt nauseated and was soaking wet with sweat...
We might actually hit 100 degrees today!!
I am staying in the house, working on some purging and reorganizing projects.....
With air conditioning blaring!!
I come out around 7 am to water the real flowers that I have planted in pots in the front and back yard....
All the pots on the front porch are filled with UV and water resistant faux flowers that I invested in last Summer....
I had hopes to apply a fresh coat of paint on some of my outside patriotic decor but did not get to it....
Hopefully, I will get to do so before Labor Day....
Look at how well my coleus are doing!
I have to trim these shrubs but there is a robin's nest in one of them so I will wait....
You can see my next door neighbor's front yard and the plants that I planted in theirs are doing well....
On to the inside tour.....
As I mentioned in previous posts, I really only decorate the Living Room for the Patriotic Summer Holidays....
We will start at the front door.....

Downstairs Hallway....
For the first time ever, I decided to decorate the Dining Room Buffet for the Summer Patriotic Holidays this year.....
I also decided to leave this branch Tree in the Dining Room and decorate it like I normally do when I move it back into the Living Room....

I also shared Nelson Crest all decked out for America's 250 Birthday!
And even though I do not consider this Patriotic decor but rather Americana decorating style, this is the china cupboard in the Den ......
And the area around it including another Seasonal Tree....
I guess you can consider this a Patriotic Tree...

A simple Patriotic Memorial Day tablescape for my son and I on Memorial Day...
And I had forgot to take pictures of my Family Memorial Day Remembrance Dinner tablescape....
I had a lot of fun decorating for the Patriotic Summer Holidays this year as I changed things up and tried to shop my own home and use things I already had....
A few examples....
On the Trees and garland on the "mantel"

Red bows bought at Christmas....
Under the 7 ft. Tree, bells bought after Christmas....
This white ceramic Tree bought 2 years ago at Christmas....
More bells bought a few years ago at Christmas....
Envelope pillow covers I made for Valentine's Day....
Red bottle brush trees used at Christmas....
Red mercury glass votive cups used for Christmas and Valentine's...
A drum left out after Christmas...
In the Dining Room, I decorated the buffet using some of my red cardinal collection....
An Angel and ornaments....

A red cardinal Tea for One and matching Tea Pot!!
And a tiered red and white Christmas dish.....
Along with my faux goodie and candy collection......
Think outside of the box when it comes to decorating and shop your own home like I am trying to do this year.....
I will start to change over the Living Room to my late Summer "Under the Sea" Coastal decor in the second week of July since I will be hosting my Family July 4th Cook In Dinner on Tuesday , the 7th when my son Jim and DIL Danielle are off as they will be working all weekend.....
I hope you are all surviving this terrible heat and humidity and have a safe July 4th weekend......

ReplyDeleteYour 4th of July porch is spectacular -- a great way to celebrate. Are you having a picnic-style family get-together? We're grilling hot dogs and hamburgers, along with having macaroni salad and baked beans. Dessert for the holiday is always a red cake with white and blue frosting. Enjoy your holiday weekend.
