DEBBIE-DABBLE BLOG: Family Memorial Day Remembrance Dinner, 2026

I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

Family Memorial Day Remembrance Dinner, 2026

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Blogging has always been a stress reliever for me along with an avenue to share my passions which are my home and my garden.....

I feel it is a personal Journal that, hopefully, someday, my Twin Granddaughters will be able to look back on to learn about who I was....

I will be posting 3 times a week on MONDAYS, THURSDAYS and SATURDAYS....

And now for a few Personal Notes...

For the New Year, I am trying something different with my 3 times weekly posts....

On THURSDAYS, I will feature what I cooked and ate during the week, showcasing local cuisine and a few recipes for things that I actually made...

I decided that on SATURDAYS, I will showcase What I Have Been Up To in the past week, sharing events and places I went to, if any....

On MONDAYS, I will be featuring What I Have Bought or Been Gifted Recently, if anything...

It's THURSDAY so I am sharing what I bought from the Amish Farmer, who comes to the Mall down the road from me, every Friday.....

I bought sweet corn, tomatoes and an onion for my Family Memorial Day Dinner....

There is now an other Amish family that comes and sets up bakery cases filled with homemade donuts!!

I bought glazed and Oreo cookie with peanut butter filling donut holes....

My son Joey treats us to Take Home on Fridays and this week he got pan fried pizza topped with bacon.......

And a large cheese steak stromboli, minus the peppers and onions, from Dino's, a local place in the Mall.....

I had half of it left for dinner the following day.....

Today, I am sharing my Family Memorial Day Dinner that I hosted on Tuesday evening as my son Jim and DIL Danielle work every weekend and every Holiday that Target is open and have Tuesdays and Wednesdays off together.....

So I am starting off with what I served.....

I discovered that Sam's Club has a delicious Loaded Potato Salad with cheese and bacon in it!!!!

It was super thick so I added a bit more mayo and some of my favorite seasonings, like onion and garlic salt, paprika and Italian Seasoning, to it.....

Deviled eggs.....

Kielbasi, which my son Joey calls spicy Polish meat.......

Everyone, especially my twin granddaughters, love these chicken bites....

I also served cheese burgers, hot dogs, which my son Jim topped with the chicken bites, Mac N Cheese, the corn on the cob from the farmer and cupcakes for dessert......

On Monday, Memorial Day, I set a simple table as it was just me and my son Joey for a simple meal of tater tots and deli meat sandwiches....

I used a Patriotic vinyl tablecloth....

And a simple place setting.....

I started with red chargers and red handled flatware....

Patriotic dinner plates gifted to me by my late friend Anne Marie....

And Patriotic dessert plates that I bought in Ollies last year....

And crystal glasses , gifted to me by my next door neighbor....

I decorated the branch Tree that I bought after Christmas in Ollies with red and blue ornaments.....

And as always, I burn my late husband Joe's special candle for every Holiday dinner...

On Tuesday, I pretty much kept this the same, just adding more plates and removing the centerpiece because as my son Joey always says, "You have to have room for the food"!!!

I did not get to take pictures of that tablescape.....

As I did on my Face Book page, I am going to do a photo dump of that evening.....

And she kept tapping the button to make it play over and over again!!

And then would giggle when it would start to play....

I think we all heard that song in our head until the next day and then some!!

The twins discovered the Den the last time they came to visit Mimi so after eating , we all went out there....

I admit that these are not the best pictures of me, perched on that small ottoman but I wanted to share the good time we had....

They also loved walking up and down this step......

And they loved the chair by the computer!!!

My grand pups were tired.....

Being out in the Den brought back so many memories for me....

This was my boy's play room when they were young....

And then when they got older, we had every game system known to man and this room would have all the neighborhood kids sitting on the chairs and all over the floor, playing video games.....

We had a great time......

Being with my family and enjoying these darling twin girls, which were born at the right time, bring me so much Joy and Happiness!!

I do not know how we all would have gotten through Joe's passing over these last 2 years without them.....

I hope you were able to spend some time over the Holiday weekend with those that you love.....
