I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

Memorial Day Front Porch and Yard, 2026

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Blogging has always been a stress reliever for me along with an avenue to share my passions which are my home and my garden.....

I feel it is a personal Journal that, hopefully, someday, my Twin Granddaughters will be able to look back on to learn about who I was....

I will be posting 3 times a week on MONDAYS, THURSDAYS and SATURDAYS....

As always, click on each picture if you would like to enlarge it....

 A NOTE ABOUT COMMENTS

I enjoy reading your comments and will return the favor by visiting and commenting on your blog or reply to you directly here if you do not have a blog but I do have my comment section set to Moderation due to spammers and hackers so your comment will not appear immediately...
And since I have a very busy life, like most of us do, it may take me awhile to return your comments but I promise I will....

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In my last post, I shared how I decorated my china cupboard in the Den in an Americana theme using red and blue transferware dishes....

Click HERE if you missed that post!!

Thanks to Andrea, over at The Cottage Market, for choosing my post, Parent's Day Celebration, as one of her features from last week's A Morning Cup of Joe Link Party!!

Thanks Andrea for the feature and for these kind words.....

" There is something so heartwarming about gathering together for a special family dinner. This celebration feels full of love, tradition and meaningful moments shared around the table. I always enjoy seeing the thoughtful details and cozy atmosphere Debbie creates for family occasions. Such a lovely reminder to celebrate the people we love most. "

Please stop by and link up to this sweet party!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

For the New Year, I am trying something different with my 3 times weekly posts....

On THURSDAYS, I will feature what I cooked and ate during the week, showcasing local cuisine and a few recipes for things that I actually made...

I decided that on SATURDAYS, I will showcase What I Have Been Up To in the past week, sharing events and places I went to, if any....

On MONDAYS, I will be featuring What I Have Bought or Been Gifted Recently, if anything...

I know it is SATURDAY and I should be sharing events or places I have been to but it was a quiet week and I have nothing to share from this week....

I have my downstairs now changed over to pretty much how it will look until mid July....

And I will be sharing all of that in future posts...

For today, I am once again putting off finishing my tour of the Den because I want to share how I decorated the Front Porch and Yard for Memorial Day....

We had 3 days of 90 degrees and since I do not have my air conditioners in yet, I stayed in the house with the windows closed and shades pulled down to not let the heat and hot sun in....

As you can see, our weather took a bit of a nose dive from those 90 degree temps. and I am very thankful for that!!

It was cool enough on Thursday, after getting a half inch of rain with the cold front that moved through, to decorate the front of the house for Memorial Day...

It is supposed to rain all day today, Saturday, giving us another inch of rain...

Let's remember the real reason for Memorial Day....

I simply change out of few things from my regular porch decor and add some American flags....

This is the view that one gets when they walk up the steps from the parking lot in front of my row of townhouses....

I am so happy that I left up my evergreen garland and just added eucalyptus garland to it, saving me the time of taking it down and putting it back up come the time to decorate for Christmas....

The porch sign that my great niece Caitlin created for me stays up year round....

As I shared in past posts, I have all faux flowers on the front porch....

I added a flag and a Patriotic star yard stake and truck....

And a bow on the lighthouse I made from non-Patriotic ribbon I had.....

A red rose one and a blue and white checked one...

I left up the red and yellow bows I made for the Summer....

I hung 2 signs that I recently bought in Dollar General on each side of the front door.....

I made the wreath several years ago....

I added stars to the center and underneath it....

I plan on painting the red areas of those stars after Memorial Day....

I changed out my regular porch signs for Patriotic ones....

Patriotic signs and a flag added to the faux mailbox....

That is a bug zapper and light hanging from the mailbox.....

Again, I am going to be giving these signs a fresh coat of red paint....

I flipped the chair pillows over to the solid black side from the floral side....

In the corner....

My porch flag....

I decorated a star that my late husband Joe bought from the Amish Farmer, who comes to the Mall down the road from me every Friday from April til the end of October....

And I decorated the tree in the corner of the porch....

A metal wreath hung on this post...

I changed out the bow in the center of the railing for a Patriotic one....

And added flags to the planter of faux flowers...

An Uncle Sam sign stands in front of this pillar....

On the side of the porch.....

I changed out the faux mailbox cover for a Patriotic one and attached a shepherd's hook to the railing using zip ties and hung a Mail Man wind chime from it....

I bought this wind chime many years ago, as Joe was a Mail Man, and had it hanging in the back yard...

I added flags and Patriotic flower stakes from Dollar Tree to the pots of hostas....

In the flower bed under my Living Room window...

The flower bed on top of my front slope

I changed out the mini garden flag for a Patriotic one....

Flags and a Patriotic yard stake added to the pots on my park bench....

Another mini Patriotic flag.....

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I made a few simple changes and additions to decorate the front of my house for Memorial Day weekend....

I will keep my Patriotic decorations out until Wednesday as I will be hosting my family Memorial Day Remembrance Dinner. honoring all those who gave their lives for this Country which is the true meaning of Memorial Day......

Memorial Day should NOT be a celebration.....

But it is supposedly the unofficial start of Summer and one could celebrate that if one wishes to....

I hope you get to spend some of this weekend with those you love, whether it be family or friends....

I hope you will stop by to visit again on MONDAY for my next post....

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

And try to find JOY in every single day!
