And now for a few Personal Notes...
For the New Year, I am trying something different with my 3 times weekly posts....
On THURSDAYS,
I will feature what I cooked and ate during the week, showcasing local
cuisine and a few recipes for things that I actually made...
I decided that on SATURDAYS, I will showcase What I Have Been Up To in the past week, sharing events and places I went to, if any....
On MONDAYS, I will be featuring What I Have Bought or Been Gifted Recently, if anything...
Well, it's SATURDAY and I should be sharing any events that I have gone to but I have none to share for this week....
I will share though that my parish was given some sad news last week....
We are losing our beloved Father Alex.....
March Family Breakfast , 2024
Dressed as a "Ceiling Fan" for 2024's Trunk N Treat....
Cash Bingo, 2025
Fall Festival, 2025
Dressed as Dennis Nedry from Jurassic Park ( one of his favorite movies) 2025's Trunk N Treat...
As Vocations Director for the Diocese of Scranton, Father Alex is credited for bringing in 18 Seminarians....
The most we have seen in Decades!!
So it would only make sense that he would become the Rector at the newly formed Seminary for the Diocese of Scranton that is being created from a former convent...
He will be living there with our new Seminarians.....
Even though our parish is heart broken, this is truly where he needs to be....
I will never forget everything that he did for us when my husband Joe became ill and passed away....
We will be wishing him Good Bye and Good Luck at a Parish party on Saturday, May 30th, which I will be helping out with......
Yes, he drives a motorcycle!!!
He credits his success in recruiting those to Vocations, including Deacons, is that he shows them he is just a regular guy, acting upon his calling to God, but not giving up what he likes to do in life...
He is part of a new kind of priest that is emerging in the Catholic Church...
Our new prieist will be even younger than Father Alex, who recently turned 40....
Father Micheal is 36 years old and this will be his first assignment as a Pastor as he was an assistant Pastor...
He is coming to us, with his dog, from a Parish only across the river, 10 minutes away, and is a local boy...
I am looking forward to meeting him and I am helping out planning a Meet and Greet for him...
Today, I am picking up where I left off in the Den......
At the back door.....
As I mentioned in my last post, the colors of the Den are blue, burgundy and tan.....
For Spring, Summer and Fall, it is now decorated in an English Cottage style with a bit of Americana thrown in
When looking through my stash, I found this valance that I realized matches the curtains that I have been using in this room.....
I can't recall ever using it before.....
I hung this metal flower that my late husband Joe bought on clearance in Big Lot's....
Along with this sign, that he also bought....
On the side of the door.....
My 4 Season Thomas Kinkade clock....
I have the Spring plate displayed now.....
A stack of books vase, bought at a yard sale, on the Home Interiors shelf.....
I have used a lot of books and book like items in this room...
On the table that was one of 2 that my husband Joe bought at a church sale for $6.00 each.....
I refinished both tables.....
I ordered this hand made lamp shade on EBay about 20 years ago....
This is a new vigentte on this table.....
A bow made from Patirotic ribbon on a bird cage that is part of a set of 2....
A picture of Roy Nelson, the man who built my Victorian Doll House.....

A vintage lamp......
On the foot stool next to the table....
A bird's nest inside of a vintage cigar box.....
A blue egg and birds.....
I also found these blue valances in my stash that I forgot about......
And I hung more signs that Joe bought on Clearance from the rods....
I can not remember the last time I used these valances.....
I am definitely shopping my own home for new looks!!
Previous looks.....
I do like the change and I am thinking of leaving the ivory lace curtains up and just pulling the one back when I put in the air conditioner.....
In the middle of the 2 windows......
My Home Interiors Denim Days Collection of figurines.....
The top of the computer armoire....

I leave this Thomas Kinkade Angel out year round as it is too pretty to pack away after Christmas.....
The guardian Angel is a Home Interiors picture.....
The matching figurine.....
A Thomas Kinkade clock.....
A Pittsburgh Penguins throw on the chair....
This vintage basket was my late neighbor Elly's.....
A floral arrangement I made....
A vintage ash tray stand.....

The other birdcage that was part of that set....

A lighted cottage plate.....
You can tell I also had a "Bird" theme going on in this room too....
And this is where I will leave off for today.....
I hope you will stop by to visit again on
MONDAY for my next post.....
Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!
And try to find JOY in every single day!
Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!
If you do not have a blog, PLEASE
give me some way to reply to your comment, maybe by including your email in your comment. If I can not find a way to
reach you, I will reply on the post where you commented so please check
back......
I am linking up to these parties:
THURSDAY
Please take some time to visit these terrific hosts and all those joining in on the fun!
It is certainly looking very patriotic at your home. Changes coming to your church, which are always a challenge to deal with, but I know members will welcome the new pastor with enthusiasm. Enjoy the lovely weekend.
