I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

For the New Year, I am trying something different with my 3 times weekly posts....

On THURSDAYS, I will feature what I cooked and ate during the week, showcasing local cuisine and a few recipes for things that I actually made...

I decided that on SATURDAYS, I will showcase What I Have Been Up To in the past week, sharing events and places I went to, if any....

On MONDAYS, I will be featuring What I Have Bought or Been Gifted Recently, if anything...

Since today is THURSDAY, I want to share these amazing goodies.....

The Amish Farmer, Ben, that comes every Friday from April til October and sets up in the parking lot of the Mall, right down the road from me, is back....

And he has brought a friend with him , who is selling homemade donuts!!!

My O My!!

I bought these Oreo Cookie......

And Glazed donut holes...

These were $6 each or 2 for $10...

And I paid $2 each for these scrumptious Peanut Butter filled Oreo Cookie donuts!

The donuts literally melted in your mouth , they are so fresh....

The Amish Farmer, not only has produce, but also sells eggs, chicken, jams and jellies and baked goods from his wife Ruth's Bakery....

And he also sells homemade cheese!!!

I bought cheddar bacon and mild cheddar...

I have been buying his cheese for years and at the end of the season, I freeze it so I have it to use in casseroles, etc. through out the Winter...

In fact, I am just finishing up using all I froze last Fall.....

On Mother's Day, I went to Mass in the morning and visited with several friends while there....

Since my son Jim and DIL Danielle work every weekend, I had a quiet Mother's Day on Sunday....

My son Joey and I love watching the History Channel and are huge fans of the TV Show The Food That Built America....

After watching the Pizza Wars episode, I was dying for a stuffed crust pizza from Domino's.....

And Joey treated me to just that for Mother's Day!

A stuffed crust pizza with extra cheese and mushrooms....

And a chicken, bacon, ranch one....

Along with Parmesan Chesse Bites...

Of course the 2 of us could not finish all of this so Joey took home what was left of the Parm bites for a snack to have later and I enjoyed the pizza for the next 2 days.....

 It was so good!!

We had our Parent's Day Celebration on Tuesday...

After my husband Joe passed away 2 years ago, we stopped celebrating Father's Day at my house because my son Jim, who had finally just became a Dad 4 months before Joe passed away, could not handle celebrating it at my house without his Dad being here...

He had looked forward to celebrating his very first Father's Day with his Dad but that was not meant to be...

So he celebrated it at home with his infant twin daughters and wife, which was fine with me...

Til this day, Jim still has a hard time even talking about Joe..

They still came here to celebrate Mother's Day so last year, I decided to call our Mother's Day celebration Parent's Day so we could celebrate both Jim and Danielle and myself....

This year on Tuesday, I did the same thing as last year and bought seafood from the local place where I always get it, Valley Seafood....

 This was our dinner....

 Scallops and Shrimp......

Chicken fingers that were as big as your hand, that I cut them in half!!

And cole slaw and their homemade tartar and cocktail sauce.....

All of this from Valley Seafood only cost $56

I fryed up 2 crab cakes that I had in the freezer, bought at another local place, Malacari's.....

And also added these chicken bites from Sam's Club because my twin granddaughters love these...

Jim and Danielle brought french fries from McDonald's and I bought these cup cakes from Price Chopper for our dessert.....

All of this cost a little under $100.....

No where could 4 adults and 2 children have a seafood dinner like this in a restaurant that cost under a hundred dollars?????

No where in this day and age in this horrific economy!!!

I set a very simple table, using a brightly colored floral tablecloth........

I used my everyday Corelle dinner plates....

Along with my everyday flatware and crystal glassware, gifted to me by my next door neighbor....

I gave my twin granddaughters brightly colored plates....

I placed this beautiful gift I received for my Birthday from Jim and Danielle in the center of the table....

Flanked by my crystal Angel salt and pepper shakers.....

Along with the candle that I received at a special All Soul's Day Mass for Joe.....

I burn this candle for every family dinner we have to remember that he is still with us....in our hearts....

My twin Granddaughters enjoyed the cupcakes and even got the giggles when eating them.....

Lily.....

Now that is how to eat it....stick your face in it!!

Lol!!

Gigi

No, Joey and I still can not tell them apart....

Jim and Danielle have to tell us which one is which....

Little Miss Faye, one of my Grand pups...

I usually have my Den blocked off from the pups and twins because of a step down into it....

I took down the gate and let the twins explore the Den for the 1st time...

They were thrilled they got to see a "new" room and kept going up and down the step into the room...

They loved looking at themselves in the mirrored storage room door and they enjoyed seeing my Victorian Doll House, Nelson Crest, for the 1st time....

It will eventually be theirs when they get a bit older....

If we can move it out of the house and then down the steps to my parking lot, which will be quite a challenge....

The girls kept looking out the back door at Mimi's back yard so Jim and I took them out there since I have it all cleaned up and ready for the Summer....

 Mimi and Gigi

Azumi and Faye also came out with us...

 Mimi and Lily

Somewhere along the numerous trips back and forth along the walkways, Jim and I switched girls.....

 When.....I can't remember....

They enjoyed seeing all of Mimi's garden things and the Gnome Fairy Garden tub!!

And they did not want to go back inside.....

My son Joey gifted me a Walmart gift card as I do order online from there...

And Jim and Danielle gifted me this BEAUTY!!

Danielle said as soon as she saw this, it reminded her of the dress form and Victorian Lady figurines that I have.....

 The back.....

ABSOLUTELY STUNNING.......

Jim and Danielle also were gifted my Parent's Day gifts to them....

I thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful evening spent with my family....

It was a great Parent's Day celebration....

Only thing, is that we will have to celebrate Uncle's Day for my son Joey!!

LOL!!

That afternoon, I had hung Joe's Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins flag out on the porch as his beloved Baby Pen's ( the AHL team to the Pittsburgh Pens) made it through the 1st round of the Play Offs for the Calder Cup and was going to be playing the 1st game of the second round on Tuesday evening!!!

 AND THEY WON!!!!!!

 In a Shut Out!!

I think I heard Joe cheering up there in Heaven......

Joe's dream was to see his beloved Baby Pens win the Calder Cup and they just may have the team to do it this year...

Let's Go, PENS!!

I hope you all got to celebrate Mother's Day in some way with those that you love!!

And I hope you will stop by to visit again on SATURDAY for my next post!!
