"Garden" Sitting Room, Part 1, 2020

 Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Today, I will be sharing the rest of the corner in the Sitting Room where I set up the Garden Tea Table that I showcased in a previous post.......
Click HERE if you missed it.....

In my last post, I shared how I was able to get the Front Porch and Yard ready for the Summer months but I still need to plant all the annuals in my pots......

Time for some Personal Notes......

It is 1 year ago today that I have my Knee Replacement Surgery at 3 pm in the afternoon......

I was home the following day in less than 24 hours after completing my first therapy session which even included walking up and down stairs....

Here I am looking like a bit of a sad sack after I came home the day following surgery.....
Before my surgery, having been a Rehab Nurse for over 37 years, I had everything set up for what I would need for my recovery at home....

I had a rolling walker, a shower chair, a quad cane and even a straight cane ready to go.....
I had been preparing for this for 6 years, after all.......

This was my waterproof Aquacel dressing that was on my incision until my one week post op visit when it was removed........
My best friend became my Polar Ice machine that I kept on almost constantly for the first week or 2 to help reduce the swelling, making it easier to bend and do my exercises.....
I am not able to take any pain medication with Oxycodone in it as it causes projectile vomiting for me so that meant NO Morphine, Oxy IR , Oxycontin,Vicidan or Percocet which are the usual drugs of choice after joint replacement surgery...

We even tried Ultram with Zofran and a patch for nausea but I still vomited from that so the day after surgery I took 2 mg. of Dilaudid by mouth twice and then was able to go home on Tylenol # 3 Tabs which I have used after previous surgeries....

I took 2 tabs every 6 hours the first 2-3 days and then started to cut back....

I refused Home Physical Therapy and started my Out Patient Therapy program on my 3rd day post op.....

I went twice a week for 6 weeks and by the first week, I was on a stationary bike and able to do full rotations of the bike....

I had all the staples removed and steri strips put on.......
 Until the incision healed......
I strictly followed the exercise program prescribed by Physical Therapy and the online Ortho Program that I was enrolled both pre and post op.....

Soon I was able to return to riding my own stationary bike.......
It wasn't long before I ditched the rolling walker and progressed to a cane.......

Here I am with my neighbor Lynn as I was doing my prescribed walking up and down the sidewalk in front of our townhouses.......
Sadly for me but very happy for her, Lynn just recently took a job within the VA Hospital system , transferring and moving to Florida......

I slept downstairs on the sofa for over 2 months because as soon as I tried to lay down in bed, I wanted to turn on my side which is how I sleep and I just could not tolerate that ......

Nor could I tolerate the bed linens on my knee........

This also allowed me to get up and walk around during the night without disturbing Joe....

I was thankful to have been able to take care of myself and all I needed Joe for was to fill my Polar Ice machine...

Little did I know a year ago that our son Joey, who is living with us currently until this health crisis is over, would be the one sleeping on that same sofa.....

From personal experience, the addition of the ottoman makes this set up quite comfortable....
I am glad that Joey has adjusted well to seeping here.....

So one year later after Knee replacement surgery, I am doing quite well....

My one year follow up visit with my Ortho Surgeon was cancelled because it was considered non-emergent.....

I rescheduled it for September even though I could have set up a video appointment with my ortho surgeon but that was not needed in my opinion.......

I highly recommend for anyone who needs the surgery to have it done as it greatly improved the quality of my life as I can walk again without any pain and continue to do things that I have always done....

Yesterday was a nice day even though it was sunny so it became a bit too hot for me as I worked outside, getting the back yard set up for the Summer......

Here are just a few pictures.....
I even did some work leveling the brick walkways and patio extension that I put in a few years ago and straightening out stone and scalloped rick borders......
I still can not kneel so I have to work sitting on a step stool bent in half which truly does my back no good....
Yes, I killed Joe for taking a picture of my big butt......

Finished project.....
I will be giving these metal yard flowers a fresh coat of paint.....
They faded a bit in the Sun that is pretty constant all day long in our back yard....
So far, we are all doing well and are staying healthy and I Thank God every day for that.....

Now on to that corner in my Sitting Room.....
Above the door of the room is a plaque that I bought several years ago......
Since I was forced into being a Nurse by my Mother, I have always loved this quote.....

In fact, this quote has been featured at the top of this Blog since I started Blogging....
When this was my son Jim's room, his bed was in this corner...

Since it is a small room, only 8' x 10 ', I hung shelves on most of the walls for storage of all Jim's movies and electronics and books.....

I left the one over the bed on this wall....
The vintage linens on this shelf , except for the one in the middle were made by my Maternal Grandmother......
I bought this scarf in the middle of the shelf on Ebay years ago....
My grandmother tatted the trim on these scarves....
Over by the doorway....
A cute magnetic board......
My former neighbor Jackie gave me this vintage wash stand....
A few years ago when I decided to paint all the furniture in this room white, I gave this a fresh coat of white paint.....
In keeping with the garden theme and the yellow and bright pink color scheme of this room......
I did an arrangement of yellow and pink flowers in this vintage Bowl and Pitcher set.....

A bright yellow Butterfly ornament sets in the back of the arrangement and a set of battery operated Butterfly lights bought at Dollar Tree lights it all up
This lid tucked into the side of the bowl belongs to the matching chamber pot.....
Which is on the shelf below......
With a yellow bird house resting on top of it.....
Inside the bird cage is a bird's nest with yellow eggs.....
Under the shelf is a window pane mirror that I bought at a Flea Market......
I bought the Home Interiors gold metal swag, complete with flowers for $5.00 at a great church Flea Market that runs every Saturday for a month until their annual Church Bazaar......
I will sure miss going to that Flea Market this year as I always was able to find great things there for cheap prices.....
The beaded garland hanging on the mirror was given to me by my friend, Patti......

On the shelf is the matching shaving cup to the 4 piece Bowl and Pitcher set , a clock and a sweet pink fairy that I bought 3 years ago in Dollar General......
Hanging on the wall to the side of the mirror are 2 vintage ceramic umbrella planters bought at the same church Flea Market........
I hung 2 other Home Interiors mirrors beneath the window pane shelf.....
A vintage Victorian ceramic boot that I bought in Salvation Army sets on top of a vintage sewing basket that I have used to store Christmas decorating magazines inside.....
Hanging from the ceiling in this corner is a chandy that I made.....

Several years ago, I bought 2 black chandy's in Ross for Less on Clearance for $5.00 each.....

One of them, I have shown many times on this blog .....

It is the one that hangs above my sink in the Kitchen......
I painted this one red and glued a set of white demitasse cups and saucers to it.....

This is the same chandy in the Sitting Room......
I painted it white, glued clear glass votive cups bought at Dollar Tree to it and filled them with small clay pots filled with flowers, also bought at Dollar Tree......
The ceiling medallion, one of 5 I bought in Salvation Army, which I painted white and dry brushed blue paint on it.....
I hung chandy crystals bought at Wegman's after Christmas on Clearance along with a Garden Fairy from the chandy.....
Also hung in the corner......
Is a Victorian styled Tussie Mussie that I made....
I used some pieces of vintage jewelry when embellishing it....

These are ceramic plaques commemorating both my sons Birth Dates.......
They were made by my sister's oldest daughter, my niece, Lisa......
Lisa is only 12 years younger than me......
I already shared the tea table and the chair I upholstered.....
This tea cup rack was also painted white when I painted the rest of the furniture in this room.....
On top of it is a Rosie B tea set gifted to me by my friend, Joan......
The little plates are Cherished Teddies that I bought at a yard sale......
And as fate would have it, when cleaning out my neighbor Elly's house for her sons, I found several pieces of vintage Fiestaware and these pink cups were among them!!
They go well with the Rosie B tea set, don't they?

And this is just some of my Tea Cup Collection.......
I will save these for a separate post in the future......

Below the tea cup rack.......
Is a Home Interiors picture and 2 floral plates......
Hanging from those plates are 2 Victorian style plaques that I made......
And that finishes this post on this corner of the Sitting Room.....
Soon I will be sharing the rest of the Sitting Room, completing my tour of this room......

But in my next post, I will be sharing Joe's Pittsburgh Corner and how the acquisition of this one picture for his Collection.....
Lead me to having to re-do not only this corner of our master Bedroom but also another wall in the Bedroom!!
So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!
