Fairy Garden Mantel in the Sitting Room

 Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

UPDATE: I APOLOGIZE IF YOU ARE SEEING LARGE WHITE BOXES WHERE SOME PICTURES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE...

WE HAVE NOTICED THIS ON MY BLOG AND ON OTHER BLOGS AND I DO NOT KNOW WHY IT IS HAPPENING...

IT IS AN ISSUE ON BLOGGER AND THEY DO KNOW IT IS HAPPENING ON MULTIPLE BLOGS....

HOPEFULLY, IT WILL BE CORRECTED SOON....

Today, I will be sharing my Fairy Garden Mantel in the Sitting Room......

But first, I want to Thank, Richella over at Imparting Grace, for featuring my post, Word of the Month for April, HOPE!, from last week's Grace at Home Linky party!!!
 Thanks so much, Richella!!

Please stop by and link up to this charming party!!!

Well, Easter is now over but I will be keeping up my Easter decorations until late next week.....

I am in no hurry to take them down because I really enjoyed how the house looked decorated for Easter this year.......

After I do take Easter down and pack it away and haul it up the attic, I will get down from the attic my Patriotic decorations to decorate the Living Room with for the months of May, June and mid July......

The rest of the rooms downstairs will be devoid of Seasonal decorations for the first time since September....

In my last post, I shared my Easter Tablescape.......
Click HERE if you missed that post,,,,

I also shared my dear friend Anne Marie's home decorated for Easter......
Click HERE if you missed that post....

And now to a few Personal Notes.....

Music has always been a very important to me since I was a child......

I would rather go to a concert then go on a week long vacation....

I thoroughly enjoyed Andrea Bocelli's Live Streamed Easter concert...
The Visuals were simply spectacular!!!

Click HERE if you missed it!!

Every Friday, Andrew Lloyd Webber live streams for 48 hours one of his Broadway shows.....

I have watched one of my favorites.......

Joseph and His Technicolor Dream Coat.....
I still have the original album that I bought in 8th Grade!!

And of course, my all time favorite........
I also still have the original album!!

Tonight, another favorite will be streamed.........
 Can't wait......

Click HERE to go to the You Tube site and to set a reminder for the shows.....

Joe was gifted an NHL.Com Gift Card for Christmas from our son, Joey..

He finally picked out something and it just came!!!
His 3 favorite Pittsburgh Pens Players.......

And of course, Himself!!!
 #1 Draft Pick!!
 Yep, in his wildest dreams......

Now I have to find a place to hang it up in his Pittsburgh corner in our bedroom which seems to be expanding into the rest of the room!!!!

I continued with another Easter tradition......

Making Turkey Bone Broth Soup from the turkey breast I made for Easter Dinner.....
This was the perfect week to make a big pot of soup because we have had temps. in the low 30's in the mornings and high temps. barely getting out of the 40's at the end of the day......

And we even had snow showers......
Typical weather for April here in NEPA where we average about 3 inches of Snow in April.....

An inch of snow is predicted for tomorrow morning.......

Joe had to go to the Dentist today as he cracked off yet another tooth down to the gum so it had to be pulled......

The second one in less than 2 months....

What 50 years of smoking cigarettes will do......

Luckily, Joe quit 3 years ago when he retired....

Because Joe does not feel quite like eating much, our son, Joey, who is staying with us now, treated me to Olive Garden tonight.....

They are offering a Buy One Dinner, Take One Home...

Joey got Chicken Parm and I got Fettucini Alfredo.....

It was fabulous!!

Joe was saying that hair coloring is a big seller at Wegman's......

Luckily, I do not have to worry about that!!!
I had my last hair cut on March 8th so I am about a week and a half over when I usually get it cut..

We'll see how it goes but so far, so good.....

When I took down and packed away Christmas upstairs, I turned the Sitting Room upstairs back into what I call, The Garden Room" for the Spring and Summer months.....

This room, which was my son Jim's room, is painted yellow and has a pretty floral border that I bought on Ebay......
This was what my faux fire place started out looking like........
It was a piece of furniture that was going to be thrown out of my MIL's neighbor's house.....

It sat in our Storage Shed for 5 years until I had somewhere to put it.....

I painted it and added a few things and turned it into this.......
This is how it looked decorated this Christmas.......
And this is what the mantel looked like......
As I mentioned, for the Summer, I decorate the Sitting Room in a Garden theme.......
For a few years now, I have decorated the "mantel" with Fairy Garden pieces......
At least they don't get damaged from the elements like my outside Fairy Gardens do......
I took these pictures with the display all lit up.......
You know me....I have to have the glow of lights no matter what time of year it is......

Over on the left side.......
An antique hand mirror hangs on the wall......
I left out the crystal cake pedestals that I used at Christmas......
A vintage crystal candle holder bought at Salvation Army sets on top of the cake pedestal.....
The embroidered dresser scarf was crafted by my Maternal Grandmother.......
One of a pair of LED lit trees bought a few years back at Christmas.....
One of 2 lit "House" plates......

A Garden sign above the mirror......
With a pink Hummingbird ornament clipped to the greenery swag.....
I clipped pink Butterfly ornaments to the Home Interiors branch plaques.....
And yellow ones to the branch trees........
 On top of wood pedestal.........
I bought the Fairy Garden tea cup at Big Lot's.....
Most of my Fairy Garden pieces were bought at Big Lot's.......
On top of the Tea Cup is a fairy house........
And a large Fairy that I bought at Jo Ann's Fabrics years ago.....
Some pieces were bought at Dollar General like these 2 little fairies .......
  Underneath the pedestal.......
A colored flower set of fairy lights is woven through out the display.....
 Another lighted "house" plate.......
   On the right side......
The plate hanging on the wall was gifted to my Mother when she was a teenager by one of her Aunts.....
And of course, I would have a Garden Calendar hanging in this room......
On the other crystal cake pedestal.......
And that is my Fairy Garden Mantel for this Season........
Since our son, Joey, is now staying with us for the duration of this health crisis, he has his clothes and things in this room.........
He does sleep on the sofa downstairs at night but on the weekends, Joe and I are up around 7 am which is a bit too early for him so he comes up to this room and sleeps a bit longer in the recliner here which does recline to an almost flat position......

In my next post, I will share the bottom half, the "Hearth" of my faux fire place......
And share what exactly I have stored behind these doors.......
So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

  1. Love fairies. Great job turning that piece into a fire place mantle. Looks so good decorated.
So pretty seeing snow come down, but it would be nicer if it was actually winter. I know the plants are having a hard time getting started with it. It's chilly and raining here.
    Happy Saturday

  2. Your fairy mantle is lovey! I love how springy your house is inside, even when it's snowing outside. Brrr...it's cold here, too. I can't wait for the warm weather!!

  3. Just curious, I see some of your photos gone with nothing but a big square area, some of mine too. Am I the only one seeing this? Wonder what is wrong if you may know.

  5. You've been busy! Love the photo of you! Your hair looks great!. I'm overdue for a haircut too, but since I wear my hair long, I can simply pull it back or braid it. FYI, I see missing photos too.

  6. I actually did not see any white boxes where photos should go but was so grateful to hear that as I noticed it happening on my blog over the weekend and wondered what was going on! I am so jealous of your take out Olive Garden.. I love their food but we don't have one near us. Thank you so much for sharing your decorations with us at Encouraging Hearts and Home Pinned.

  7. As usual, your decor puts me to shame. I have made several spring flower arrangements I hope to put in my antique/vintage booths when the venues open again so my front hall looks busy. You're lucky I CAN'T come to your house. The fairies would invade Nelsoncrest and make themselves at home! Some of them are just the right size! One year I cat-sat for a neighbor who visited her daughter in Fl during her birthday week. While she was gone, I decorated her dollhouse living room to be a birthday party complete with cake, presents, cards, a garland, Pepsi and beer, etc. It was a lovely surprise for her. Spring just can't seem to get started here in Maine. I treated myself to a 6-pack of purple pansies this morning while we grocery shopped!

    1. Kathy,
Again, thanks so much for all your visits and for your kind comments...I set up the front porch and the front yard today for the Summer... All I have to do now is plant my annuals but that will have to wait until the 3rd week of May to be sure that the fear of frost has passed....Stay safe, healthy and happy!!
      Hugs,
      Debbie

  8. What fun decorations to take one's mind off the snow outside! Love the Mantel from a chest -- great idea. We have been enjoying the Andrew Lloyd Weber The Shows Must Go On, too. I saw the entire Phantom of the Opera for the first time. I had heard the music and seen snippets but it was a pleasure to see it all performed on stage from beginning to end. Looking forward to the rest of them. And to a haircut, too!
