What Fellow Bloggers Think of Blogging and What I Learned!!!!

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Way back in January, I did a post called Feeling a Bit Disenchanted with Blogging!!
Click HERE if you missed it!!

That post sparked quite a conversation among some Bloggers and garnered comments from over 50 Bloggers!!!

I promised some time ago that I would revisit this topic and I will be doing so in this post!!!

I found that many of the bloggers who responded to this post feel the same way I do.......

These are a few of the common Threads that I picked up from the comments......

1. Most Blogs now lack that personal feel and have become "Professional" and are used as a way to make money through advertising......

2. Many are quite annoyed with all the advertising on Blogs and some have even stopped reading those blogs with way too much advertising and pop ups

3. Most do not care for all the Product endorsements and would much rather see crafts and projects that the blogger has done by themselves using simple everyday things ...

4.  Most enjoy seeing Thrift Store, flea market, yard sale and Estate Sale items that were upcycled by the blogger themselves and doing so economically....

5. Many like to read Blogs.......Read about the every day life of the Blogger .......about their families, their homes, their gardens and about their trials and triumphs!!!
6. Many like to link up to Linky parties and find them as a way to find Bloggers with the same interests as their own while showcasing their own likes and interests through linking up their Blog posts.

7. Most do NOT care for the Blog Hops that have now become popular where only a few Bloggers are showcased and no one else can join in and link up.  It was also brought up that it is usually the same Bloggers that are featured over and over in these Blog Hops and most of the homes showcased are what I call "Cookie Cutter" homes......

8. On the topic of "Cookie Cutter" homes, many feel that most Bloggers are all trying to copy the style that is currently the "In" thing and that few Bloggers actually showcase their own original and unique styles.....

 9. Many do NOT care for the "Expert" attitudes that Bloggers now seem to have.  Suddenly, everyone became an "expert" in design, home improvement, etc. without no formal training or education!

10. Most think that Humility seems to have been thrown out the window in Blog Land!! They feel that many Bloggers have a "Look at Me" attitude..... "I am famous" or please make me famous!
 11. The majority who responded like COMMENTS!! They like to receive and to leave comments on their own Blogs and on other blogs...They feel it is a personal way of responding to one another..... I feel the same way....

12. A lot of Bloggers use their blogs as a "Journal" of their life and view it as a way of preserving things like recipes, stories , travel, etc. for their families to look back on.....

13. Some Bloggers like Instagram to look at the photos for inspiration but most voiced their opinion that they would rather read content on a blog compared to just photos.....

14. Some like face book and twitter and some do not. Many like face book as a way to keep in touch with family which is why I have a face book page.....
What I have learned from the comments on this post is that while many are not happy with the changes in Blogging, they continue to Blog and read Blogs to be inspired, to make connections with other people who have the same interests, to learn about others in different parts of their own country and in different parts of the world, to learn new crafts and to share new recipes!!

Many have tried to quit or cut back on Blogging but are lured back into it because of that personal contact with others......

Some of us may not like the blogs that have become "Professional" and are used for nothing more than making money but for every Blog that is this way, there are Blogs that are personal and original and unique........

And I feel that as long as those Blogs exist, Blogging will still continue to draw people in.......

I want to mention a few Blog posts that mentioned the original post that I did and also posted something along similar lines......

Katie over at Let's Add Sprinkles-  Keep In Touch Party!

Katie just recently did another post on this topic...Peeved!

Anita over at Far From Rubies recently wrote this on face book:

"On another note, y’all — I really want to encourage you by showing that you do not have to jump on the latest trend bandwagon or spend money redecorating with those trends every few weeks to have a stylish and welcoming home. I see constant change - and encouragement/pressure to shop my this and that, buy this here and there, which is just not realistic and certainly not environmentally responsible. Why bother doing Marie Kondo decluttering just to dump the excess somewhere and then get more stuff?
I do change things around in my house, but — they are mostly the same old things just moved somewhere else or something I’ve found, restored or thrifted. I do buy new things occasionally but they are few and far between and they are always things I’ll keep or sell if for some reason they don’t work out. You really can just move things around for a fresh look or pack a few things away and bring them out seasonally. Surely I’m not the only one who does that, right?

This fabric started out as bathroom curtains years ago then came into the kitchen a few different times, and I made them into a table runner this week. The box I made out of a newell post from the old house several years ago and brought it back as a simple centerpiece filled with real ivy. No big box stores were shopped and no plastic will be dumped in a landfill next week.
It’s the little things😊"

I LOVE Anita's Blog as her style is so original!!!

Anita just participated in one of those Blog Hops and at the end of her post she wrote:

"I realize I march to the beat of a different drum from everyone else, ok so I'm in a completely different band, but I really want my home to tell *our* story with our things that mean something to us or that were passed down from relatives. I also feel very strongly that there is enough "stuff" already out there cluttering up the planet, so I always shop for antique/vintage/thrift first then buy new as the exception.
So instead of shopping my house online or at a big box store, please be inspired to shop your local thrift, antique and second-hand stores as well as online sites that sell used/vintage and antique.
Reuse/recycle or repurpose what you already have and just move things around from time to time for a fresh new look.
Your home will then be unique and tell your unique story. And isn't that what decor should do for you?"

I definitely agree with Anita!!!!!

Her home stood out among the others in my opinion!!

So there you have it........

The Bloggers who responded to my post were passionate about making and keeping blogging personal......

I want to leave you with one of the most personal Blog posts  I have ever read......

In my early years of blogging, I had the pleasure of linking up to Smiling Sally's Link Party, Blue Monday.....

It was through this party that I got to know Sally and we connected personally as we both had survived a form of cancer.....

Unfortuately, Sally's cancer came back and claimed her life......
.
In this post, she bids her faithful readers Good Bye.....

Smiling Sally's Gift

Sally truly was a "Gift" to all who knew her......

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

And I hope you will be back to visit again soon!!!

If you do not have a blog, PLEASE  give me some way to reply to your comment, maybe by including your email in your comment.  If I can not find a way to reach you, I will reply on the post where you commented so please check back......

Vintage Suitcases and Transferware

 Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

A few posts ago, I shared how I decorated the China Cupboard in the Den using Transferware.....

In the first post, I shared the top of the China Cupboard.....
Click HERE if you missed it........

In the second post, I shared how I decorated the inside of the China Cupboard with my collection of Transferware dishes......
Click HERE if you missed this post......

Before I go any further, I want to Thank Jennifer. over at Life Tales Books and Personal Publishing,
for featuring my post, How I Love Transferware Dishes, from last week's Heart and Soul Linky Party!!!
 Thanks so much, Jennifer!!!

I also want to Thank Angelina, over at Petite Haus, for also featuring the same post, from last week's Thursday Favorite Things Party!!
 Thanks so much, Angelina!!

Please stop by and link up to these great parties!!

Today, I want to share the last area of the China Cupboard ........
The area around the bottom and side of it......
I have 2 vintage suitcases placed underneath the China Cupboard that I like to use for display.........
Since the color theme of the Den is blue, burgundy and beige, the pieces of red and blue transferware dishes fit in beautifully I think........
I have also used several other items in these same colors.......
There is a small table next to the chair.....
 On top of the table........
Is a crock filled with a floral arrangement that I made......
On top of the table is a wooden heart that I glued a candle to and a few blue and white ornaments.......
The card propped against the crock says.......

"Come and share a pot of Tea, my home is warm ad my friendship's free!!!
Beneath the small table is a cute little plaid chair......
A sweet little bear is sitting in the chair.....
Since I will not be able to decorate for the Patriotic Holidays of the Summer, this area already had a bit of Patriotic tones to it.....
On top of the two vintage suitcases.......
On the top suitcase........
The Patriotic beach houses were bought a few years ago at Pier One......
On the side of this house is a mini blue and white china tea set......
On the other side of the beach house......
The marking on the bottom of the saucer.......
There is no marking on the cup.....
Over on the other side.......
Is the other beach house......
On the bottom suitcase......
The sugar bowl did not have a lid so I placed a few flowers inside of it that I bought at a flea market that were made of panty hose.....
Both the sugar bowl and the dish next to it have this marking on it......

The lid standing up against the top suitcase .........
Is from the covered casserole that I used on top of the China Cupboard to hold a bird cage.....
The red, white and blue bottle brush trees were also bought at Pier One......
The marking on the bottom of the saucer and tea cup set.......
An Uncle Sam like cute little guy......
. On the side of the China Cupboard.......
There used to be a small corner shelf hanging on the wall next to the China Cupboard but I donated it to Salvation Army......
The corner now has a cleaner look.....
I filled the red truck with some greenery.....
I placed a large crock in the corner, placed a blue transferware dinner plate on top of it and then placed this sweet Patriotic doll that I bought last year at a church flea sale......
I embellished her a little bit last year......
This area is going to stay this way for the Summer.......

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I used transferware to decorate this area of the Den......
I finally have the entire downstairs now void of Holiday and Seasonal decor.......

I do still have to un-decorate the upstairs as it is still decorated for Christmas but this is not unusual because I usually do this in March........

I will be glad when I get that done......

With my knee, it has been a struggle but I am taking it slow......

I pretty much am confined to the house as walking anywhere is very painful for me.....

I still have 5 weeks to go before my surgery so I do want to start a few craft projects.....

I do plan to share what I have been doing in the house so I hope you will be back to visit again soon.......

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!
