I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Blogging has always been a stress reliever for me along with an avenue to share my passions which are my home and my garden.....

I feel it is a personal Journal that, hopefully, someday, my Twin Granddaughters will be able to look back on to learn about who I was....

I will be posting 3 times a week on MONDAYS, THURSDAYS and SATURDAYS....

I enjoy reading your comments and will return the favor by visiting and commenting on your blog or reply to you directly here if you do not have a blog but I do have my comment section set to Moderation due to spammers and hackers so your comment will not appear immediately...
And since I have a very busy life, like most of us do, it may take me awhile to return your comments but I promise I will....

And now for a few Personal Notes...

For the New Year, I am trying something different with my 3 times weekly posts....

On THURSDAYS, I will feature what I cooked and ate during the week, showcasing local cuisine and a few recipes for things that I actually made...

I decided that on SATURDAYS, I will showcase What I Have Been Up To in the past week, sharing events and places I went to, if any....

On MONDAYS, I will be featuring What I Have Bought or Been Gifted Recently, if anything...

Since it is SATURDAY, it is time to share what I have been up to....

It has been a very hot, humid, record breaking week so I honestly, have no left the house all week!

You can see why I stayed in my air conditioned house!!

I took advantage of that and checked off a few projects from my monthly goals for June..

I will be sharing these in future posts but here are a few sneak peeks....

Reorganized part of the Sitting Room closet...

Went through everything in my storage room and reorganized it after purging a few things...

And I even got to do a project I did not plan on doing....

My sister found and passed on family pictures to me...

Again, I will explain in a future post....

Happy July 4th and 250th Birthday of America.....

My son Joey and I will be spending it quietly at home as it will still be in the mid 90's today...

I will be hostng my family July 4th celebration Cook In dinner with my son Jim and his family on Tuesday evening as Jim and Danielle are working all weekend....

Today, I am sharing how my back yard cottage garden is growing....

The Missouri primrose was in bloom for almost all of June and will soon reach the end of their blooming cycle and I will be cutting them back.....

Sitting on the Patio, looking at the left side of my tiny little back yard....

It is hard to tell what flowers are real and which ones are UV water resistant faux flowers, isn't it???

I transplanted the primrose I had growing here and bought a Salvia and planted it in the pot....

We will see how it does....

I do love the yellow blooms of the Missouri Primrose....

Ground sedum also blooming in yellow...

Looking across the yard at the arbor....

The arbor helps with attaching the lattice to the chain link fence....

The impatiens I planted in this vintage watering can are doing well!!!

The hosta planted in the vintage coal bucket seems to be thriving back in the shade.....

The columbine is just about done blooming....

 My Fur Baby Memory garden....

For our sweet Savanna and Cassie....

Looking down one of the brick walkways I laid by myself....

Against the back fence and gate which we never used as one might kill themselves on the slope back there...

The impatiens are doing great here in the shade....

My balloon  flower planted in another vintage bucket  has started to bloom!

The Phlox started to bloom and I planted an impatien in here for good measure...

On the other side of the left walkway....

The hosta's that I transplanted here from my neighbor's yard a few years ago are doing so well!!

These impatiens need to catch up in size to the other ones I planted....

My late husband Joe bought these lilies in Wegman's..

I am so happy they got to bloom this year as a few years ago, something gnawed them right down to the ground before they had a chance to bloom....

The Loosestrife is starting to bloom now too!!

The walkway to the garden shed...

To the left of that walkway, which I also laid....

My gnome garden......

A huge hosta in a pot in an ice cream parlor chair with autumn sedum growing in front of it...

I bought this cone flower and planted it.....

But something is gnawing it down so I took it out of the yard and put it back in a pot and hopefully, I can nurse it back to health.....

Darn squirrels!!

I planted some primrose in a pot and put it in the wood wheelbarrow in the back corner for now....

Again, the impatiens are doing well so I will plant them in these containers again next year....

Joe went and got this log for me when they were cutting some trees down in the apartment complex next to me where both my sons live....

Looking at this side of the yard from across....

I had a morning dove nest in one of my dwarf spruce trees that I have planted in huge pots off the Patio....

So Mama and Papa Dove were always around until the babies flew the nest....

The trellis helps hold up the lattice on this side of the fence...

More impatiens in another vintage watering can....

 The doves love my yard...

Begonias and more impatiens....

In the early Spring, I thought my purple leave plum was dying but I realized it was being choked out by the tree that sprouted up between the yards in back of me....

So I used my new loper and cut branches off that tree and now my tree is doing good....

That tree is killing off the arborvitae that are planted behind my fence and my next door neighbors....

And that is my update on how my back yard cottage garden is growing....

I hope you will stop by to visit again on MONDAY for my next post!!
