Welcome to Saturday Snippets....

However, today's post will not be just a Snippet (short) but a regular post.....

I will be sharing how I decorated the Front Porch for Fall this year....

But first, a few Personal Notes...

You may remember that 2 volunteers at the Hospice Center where Joe passed away were kind enough to make 2 of Joe's sweatshirts into Teddy Bears for my Twin Granddaughters.....

After I saw how cute they came out, I asked them if they would make one for me.....

I went to pick it up yesterday.......

With this one, they turned the sweat shirt inside out and used the reverse side so the Bear appears fuzzy!!!

I LOVE IT!!!

It came in a tote bag with this note attached to it.....

Those 2 women are so  caring and generous to give up their time to make these Bears for families of those who have had loved ones pass away in the Hospice Center.....

I am very grateful to them......

Okay, so let's get to the Front Porch decorated for Fall.......

There is one big change from other years.....

Do you notice something very different?????

The garland around the door and on the railings?????

I was thinking of how I could make it easier for myself to bring everything up from my storage shed to decorate the outside for the different Holidays....

I have the most decorations for Christmas.....

And since I am now carting things back and forth to and from the storage shed, I was thinking of what could save me time and energy in November, when it is colder, when I decorate the front of the house for Christmas...

Joe stored the garlands for Christmas/Winter in very large tubs, which were even awkward for him to haul up the 13 steps from our parking lot in front of our row of townhouses to the porch....

I will still store the garland in these tubs BUT I will bring them up to the house from the shed in large garbage bags, which is so much easier for me to do....

And that is exactly what I did the Tuesday after Labor Day...

I removed the bows and snowflakes that I had on the garland, leaving just the lights on them....

I recently bought 6 strands of a 6 ft. leaf garland at Ollies for only $3.99 a piece....

Since the garland had a chain link type of base, after I put up the evergreen garland around the door and on the railings, it was easy to attach the leaf garland to the evergreen one by simply pulling a piece of the evergreen garland through the chain link of the leaf garland....

It was a nice cool sunny day when I decorated the front porch and now my garland is already up for  Christmas/Winter!!!

All I have to do is remove the leaf garland , attach my bows and snowflakes and it is ready to go!!

I got actually got the idea to do a Fall garland because I have been seeing a lot of it done on those Tik Tok videos that you see on Face book.....

I am really happy with how it looks....

Okay, so let's take a closer look at the Front Porch.....

I used this Welcome sign in the Summer but thought the color looked good for Fall so I decided to simply stand it up against this pillar.....

My marigolds are doing so well now that it is a bit cooler....

And they do make it easy to transition the Porch into Fall....

I tucked a Dollar Tree metal scarecrow yard stake, that I recently bought, into the pot of marigolds.....

I made the topiary out of a tomato cage about 10 years ago.....

I have a package of the deco mesh rope from Dollar Tree so I made what I call "Loopy" bows for the lighthouse......

And 2 for the top of the topiary.......

This year, I placed this Jack O Lantern here on the red milk can that was my late neighbor Elly's....

I made the wreath for the front door a few years ago.....

This year, I hung a wooden leaf sign in the middle of the wreath ........

I took apart this bow and added the solid orange ribbon to it that I just bought in Dollar Tree to give it a pop of color....

Freshened it up a bit.....

You can see I placed a faux pumpkin by the door......

I use the "weeping mortar" on the front of the house to hang decorative signs.....

"Weeping Mortar " was popular in the 70's when these townhouses were built.....

My Dad always said it was the "lazy" way to lay brick by not wiping off the excess mortar......

A cute scarecrow sign and a few faux flowers tucked into the vintage mailbox.....

A Welcome sign and a harvest sign with a bow hung on the porch light......

A Harvest rake that I made from a child's rake....

I added a few strands of that same orange ribbon to give the bow a pop of color.....

I switched the red cushions and pillows to older ones that I had used previously in the Summer but I think they are the perfect colors for Fall.....

A "Pumpkin Everything" sign hangs above a wood crate that Joe pulled out of our dumpster and I stained....

I simply made a bow out of the orange ribbon and attached it to the back of another bow that I made....

I then attached the bow to a lantern that I placed inside of the wooden crate....

On this side of the porch....

In the corner ( don't mind the broom handles...I live here)......

I simply threaded this Fall shovel, that I have had for MANY years, through the tree that graces this corner on the porch year round......

I added a bow made out of burlap like deco mesh to the top of the tree......

A scarecrow mail box cover.....

An Autumn Harvest sign....

I have had this terra cotta Jack O Lantern, that I bought at a church flea market, for at least 15+ years.....

An Autumn flag.....

The leaf garland on the railing here is not new but the same garland that I have used for many years on this railing.....

I just attached it to the evergreen garland......

I attached the big burlap like deco mesh bows I made to each end and then added these copper colored  bows to the center of them.....

I added faux Indian corn to the center.....

I tucked Indian corn and sunflower yard stakes, from Dollar Tree, into the 2 planters filled with marigolds in front of the railing.....

The bow on the other side....

And I added orange LED lights to the tree in the corner of the porch and to the garland on this railing....

I am really happy with this new look for my Fall Front Porch.....

Before I end this post, I want to share with you how it looks in the evening....

I took these pictures at dusk when the timer is set for the lights to come on....

Yes, there are also lights on the topiary....

You can see the lights on the tree in the corner.....

The Front Porch will stay like this until October 1st when I change out a few things for Halloween.....

And add battery operated candles to the Jack O Lanterns....

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I did things a bit differently this year on the porch .....

I think putting up the evergreen garland now will make it so much easier in November when I decorate for Christmas....

In my next post on MONDAY, I will be sharing the front yard decorated for Fall and a New Haul .....

So I hope you will stop by to visit again on MONDAY!!

  2. You really have some nice decorations. I really like those wooden 🍁 I never knew that was called weeping bricks before. I actually like the textural affect in the backgrounds of your decorations.
Those t-shirt and sweat shirt teddy bears are so special and what nice ladies to do that for so many. I’m sure it will be very special to your granddaughters as they get older and learn of their granddad.
