In my last post, I shared what I chose for my WOTY for 2025....
Click HERE if you missed that post!!
I know I originally promised to do a post on my Aspirations for 2025 today but I chose to delay that post until THURSDAY.....
Today, I will be sharing how I changed over the front of the house from Christmas to Winter....
It is now definitely Winter here in NEPA even though we will be missed by a large Winter Snow Storm that is staying south of us today and supposed to just give us a dusting of snow...
UPDATE: Well, we ended up getting about 2-3 inches of a light fluffy snow...
I am adding the pictures of that at the end of this post....
We have not had temps. like this for a long period of time in the Winter for quite a number of years because of Global Warming.....
And it is expected to be like this until the 3rd week of January...
We also had these kinds of low temps. in December too!!
Now this is the type of Winter that I remember when I was growing up....
Yesterday, which was Sunday, I did a bit of shopping after morning Mass, which was Epiphany, the Feast of the Three Kings and the official end of the Christmas Season in the Catholic Church........
I keep up all my Christmas decorations until Epiphany, which is a custom of many here in NEPA, as this area has a rich history with many Eastern European Immigrants settling here to work in the coal mines....
And they brought their customs and traditions with them.....
With that being said, I want to wish all of those who follow the Julian Calendar and will be celebrating Christmas Eve tonight and Christmas Day tomorrow, a very Merry Christmas!!!
Many in NEPA still celebrate " Russian" Christmas ...
I also stopped at my Storage Shed yesterday and brought home a few boxes to pack away my outdoor Christmas decor in, along with all my outside Winter decor....
This is how it looked decorated for Christmas.....
It was 28 degrees with a brutal wind and even though the Sun was out, I will not see the Sun on my front porch until the beginning of April....
Now changed over to Winter....
But I persevered, made 4-5 trips up and down my steps to the parking lot, loading my car back up with decorations to be taken back to my storage shed....
Good exercise!
Christmas....
Winter
It took me about 2 hours to pack up what I wanted to and redecorate for Winter.....
My porch will now stay like this until about mid March because after all, we have gotten some of our best snow storms and blizzards in March here in NEPA....
Christmas
Winter
I packed away all the candy canes and the wood reindeer that my son Joey made for me many years ago in Cub Scouts.....
Christmas
Winter
I moved a pot over from the corner of the porch, placing an angel inside of it and hung a Winter slate from the railing.....
I also changed out the bow on the lighthouse, that I made from pots, with a bow I made from 2 different ribbons.....One with red cardinals and a plaid one.....
The pot on the side of the door and the garland around the door is unchanged.....
Christmas
Winter
I changed out the Christmas Wreath......
For a Winter one that I made a few years ago.....
I also changed out the wooden sled that my son Jim made for me in Cub Scouts.....
And removed the bells above the door which I plan to paint red for next year....
And that is my shaker container of Ice Melt right by the front door....
What can I say other than this is real life in NEPA in the Winter!
Christmas.....
Winter
I changed out the green light bulb that I had in the porch light with a red one....
And I hung a Winter sign that I made out of 3 signs bought on Clearance a few years ago in Big Lot's....
Along with a Winter slate.....
I also changed out the bow on the porch light with another made from the cardinal and plaid ribbons....
And hung a small snowman slate above my childhood sled....
I left the chair as is.....
Just added a star to the top of my Dad's tool box....
Of course, I left out the snow man sign....
But changed out a Christmas Tree Farm sign.....
For a Winter wreath that I made a long time ago but added snow balls to it last year....
Again, real life as my tools of the trade for Winter are stored behind the chair....
Shovels, broom, Ice chopper and car broom...
I plaid bow and a Penguin slate added to the tree in the corner....
Christmas
Another Winter slate hung from the post....
I did buy a new Winter mail box cover at Gabes yesterday for $5.....
I loved the red cardinals on it......
And I changed out the Christmas flag for a Winter one.....
The wind was really whipping yesterday so it was hard to get a good pic of the flag...
I left the garland as is.....
I even left the Amish Farmer's Star and simply attached a small Winter bow right over the red velvet one....
The view from the other side of the mail box in which I keep garden tools in.....
The flower bed under the Living Room window.......
Christmas
I was able to pull the metal present signs and candy canes out of the pots though frozen....
Yes, they look a bit bare as I never got around to cutting more greenery from the trees on the side of my road to put in those pots but in pictures further on in this post, you will see that I filled them with SNOW!!!
The front flower bed on top of the slope in front of my house.....
Christmas
Winter
I changed out the Santa and light bulb solar lights from Dollar Tree with Snow man ones.....
And added a Winter mini flag.....
Christmas
The park bench stayed the same.....
On the other side of the bench......
Christmas
Winter
I changed out the Christmas mini flag for a Winter snowman one....
This post was supposed to end here but then the snow that was supposed to miss us started!!
"It came a bit further north than we first predicted"
You think so?????
We got about 2, maybe 3 inches of a light fluffy snow.....
So I went out and shoveled 5 of my neighbor's sidewalks and 2 sets of steps to our parking lot.....
My neighbor Ed's....
The front of the house from the parking lot below.......
I kept all the wreaths on the windows....
Snow makes it all look so much better, don't you think?????
This flower bed looks so much better with snow....
See how I filled the pots with snow???
The front flower bed.....
SNOW does make everything look better, doesn't it????
I hope you enjoyed seeing the simple changes that I made to change over the front of my house from Christmas to Winter....
Soon, I will post how it looks all lit up at night because after all, don't we need a little light in the darkness of Winter???
In my next post on
THURSDAY, I will be sharing some Goals and Possibilities for the first quarter of 2025....

Snow makes everything look so pretty. I like the rain deer resting in the garden with the snow all around. Nice photos! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteWe are due a snow here in Georgia, we usually get a good one every 6 to 8 years: and it's been 7! So we are hoping! I enjoyed all of your snow pictures!

I have always loved snow, but I think after this snowfall we may need to break up... this is the most snow we have had in years. My husband kept going out every hour to clear off the back drive, and each time it looked as if he did nothing. I am thankful I am not driving in it back and forth to work right now. Your decorations look lovely Debbie, I am not sure how you have so much energy to put them all up each season. I haven't even thought about taking anything down yet. Maybe next week, lol. Hope you had a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
