I
feel it is a personal Journal that, hopefully, someday, my Twin
Granddaughters will be able to look back on to learn about who I
was....
I will be posting 3 times a week on MONDAYS, THURSDAYS and SATURDAYS....
As always, click on each picture if you would like to enlarge it....

A NOTE ABOUT COMMENTS
I
enjoy reading your comments and will return the favor by visiting and
commenting on your blog or reply to you directly here if you do not have

And since I have a very busy life, like most of us do, it may take me awhile to return your comments but I promise I will....

And now for a few Personal Notes...
Amazing what you learn when you have to do something that you never did before....
Case in point is that I went to my municipal building the other day to pay my taxes....
Yes, this was something that Joe always did....
I learned that they not only have a drop off box for Sanitary and Sewer payments but also have one of these....
A community Library Box which is located right by the door of the building!!!
If I ever find the time to read, I now know where I will take the books I read to....
I decided to make a small batch of Joe's famous Whimpies the other day....
Yes, in NEPA, we call them Whimpies, which is a name brought over by the Eastern European immigrants who settled here in the early 1900's....
You may know them as Sloppy Joe's
My son Joey does not eat veggies so I had to leave out the onion, peppers and relish....
I substituted the chopped onion with a healthy dose of onion powder and substituted the peppers with paprika....
The last time Joe made this, he split the batch in 2 and made one batch the same way I did for Joey...
Joey never liked Whimpies and for the first time, he enjoyed them when Joe omitted the veggies....
And he thoroughly enjoyed them for dinner the other evening....
One year ago today, I called the ambulance to take Joe back to the hospital as I could not manage him at home anymore as he was so weak....
My son Joey took the day off so he could be with us in the ER and hospital...
I will never forget how Joe looked, covered with blankets and a towel wrapped around his head ( raining ) as he waited until they could load him up into the ambulance....
He smiled bravely and waved to Joey and I as we stood watching from the front porch, waiting so I could lock up the house and follow in my car...
I knew in my heart he was not coming home again...
He passed away 4 days later...
I am choosing to remember him waving good bye to me when he was leaving on his annual trip to Pittsburgh to see an NHL Hockey game instead of that last wave Good Bye....
The next few days are going to be hard with a Mass for Joe on the one year anniversary of his passing, the 16th....
It is hard to believe that we have lived a year without him.....
Today, I will be finishing up my tour of the Kitchen decorated for Easter....
In my last post, I skipped over my Beverage Bar area......
You can see I have almost no counter space ....

So I had to make the most out of the space I have....
I do like to decorate this area for the different Seasons and Holidays....
An Easter sign that Joe bought on Clearance at 90% off that I embellished....
And another one that I painted to match the colors that I decorated the Kitchen with for Easter...red, orange and yellow....
It is hard to find any pot holders in those colors so I used these bought at Dollar Tree a few years back....

I did go back and buy another one of these because an Easter mug in orange is very hard to find....
I hung an Easter sign that I also embellished....
Like the pot holders, I decided to use sunflower mugs from Dollar Tree......
I placed an orange checked dish towel on top of the marble topped turntable.....
I filled those cute mugs with my coffee creamers.....
Flavored coffee and honey for Tea....
Flavored tea bags in a vintage red enamelware container and sweet cream creamers in my Cozy mug which was gifted to me by a neighbor.....
I decided to use Mom and Dad Minnie and Mickey mugs, gifted to us by my son Jim and DIL Danielle when they visited Disney World, to hold peppermint spoons and hot chocolate packets.....
Also another sunflower mug holds coffee wafers....
My coffee mugs are mugs gifted to me by Jim and Danielle....
I mostly use the enamel ware styled one with the D on it which was a Birthday gift...
I shopped what I had to decorate this area for Easter.....
The last area in the Kitchen that I want to share is the counter bar......
I left up the evergreen garland, after stripping it of all the Winter decor, and decorated it for Easter....
I embellished a bunny and carrot garland that my late friend Anne Marie gifted me....
Adding a few bottle brush carrots from Dollar Tree to it....
I hung a carrot that I made out of a Dollar Tree carrot gift bag.....
I did buy the 2 large stuffed carrots in Dollar Tree and hung them on each side....
I also made new bows this year out of orange checked and a solid orange ribbon that I bought in the Fall in Dollar Tree....
I used a runner that I had on top of the counter bar.....
I placed vintage yellow fiesta ware tea cups and saucers with a vintage paper mache egg in them on top of the red mercury glass candle holders.....
I left out this copper colored ceramic tree after Christmas, placing it in a vintage yellow fiesta ware bowl..........

Same on the other side....
You can see that I hung bunnies on the shutters.....
I kept the side of the counter bar really simple....
Hanging 2 vintage aprons and a pot holder....
The ceramic mold was my parent's.....
And that ends not only the tour of my Kitchen decorated for Easter but the room by room tour of my house decorated for Easter this year....
The house will stay decorated like this until the beginning of May.....
I am really proud of myself that I did not buy a lot of new Easter decor this year....just a few items....
In my next post on MONDAY, I will finally be sharing how I decorated the front porch for Spring/Easter along with a few new buys and a plan for Summer flowers....
So I hope you will stop by to visit again on MONDAY!!
Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

THURSDAY
Please take some time to visit these terrific hosts and all those joining in on the fun!
Virtual hugs during this sad anniversary. That is a wonderful photo of Joe smiling while he is wearing his hockey jersey and waving. I hope you can hold that image in your heart during the mass and remembrance this week. I know he is proud of how you are handling everything on your own and enjoying watching those adorable granddaughters grow up as he looks down from heaven.
ReplyDeleteI like your red, orange and yellow Easter color combo, Deb! It really works! And that ceramic rooster mold that belonged to your parents must mean a lot to you. I will be thinking of you this week as I'm sure it has to be a tough one. That photo of Joe, smiling and waving, is a beautiful way to remember him!
ReplyDeleteHi Deb..will be thinking of you all as you get through this week. Hard to believe it's been a year. You need to be proud of yourself..hugs))
ReplyDeleteBarb
Barb,
DeleteThanks for visiting again and for your encouraging words...It has been quite a year....Wishing you and your family a very Happy Easter!!
Hugs,
Deb
I too will be thinking of you this week and sending big hugs to you and your family. I love how bright and festive the kitchen looks for Easter. Take care of yourself Debbie.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, I wish you could come over and decorate for me. My Easter decorations usually involve switching out to a new, crisp Easter tea towel on the stove handle ... and then the kids use it for drying dishes. Your kitchen looks utterly gorgeous. I love your mother's ceramic mould - what a treasure to still have!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little drink station! Just perfect for spring. Prayers for you during this week! Visiting from the Talking About it Tuesdays linkup.
ReplyDeleteJennifer,
DeleteThanks so much for taking the time to visit and for your prayers...Happy Easter to you and yours..
Hugs,
Deb
