I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I want to Thank to Charlene, over at A Pinch of Joy, for choosing my post, Spring/2nd Quarterly Goals and Possibilities,  as one of her features from last week's Busy Monday Link Party!!

Thanks so much, Charlene!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

I will not be posting on THURSDAY this week.....

I am going to take THURSDAY off from posting as Wednesday is the one year anniversary of Joe's Passing and I need to give myself some Grace....

I will be back on SATURDAY, sharing not only my Easter Front Porch but also my Annual Easter/Spring Home Tour for 2025...

My son Joey treated us to pizza on Saturday from local business, The Dough Company!!

Can't go wrong with 2 large pizza's with mushrooms on one and sliced meatballs on the other for only $24.99!!

You may remember that I bought 2 turkey breasts at a price of Buy One , Get One FREE!!

Last week, I made a nice turkey dinner for my son Joey and I.....

I made turkey salad with what was left over....

Minus the celery because Joey does not eat veggies...

On Sunday, I made a pot of turkey soup , using the bones....

I think I did well with my FREE turkey breast!!

The other one will be used for my Easter Dinner...

I also wanted to share how beautiful my church, Saint Maria Goretti, looked for Palm Sunday as we begin the start of Holy Week.....

In the vestibule as you enter the Parish complex....

A view from the back of the church......

On the left side of the altar.....

 Love these deep red vases....

This cross is stunning....

The right side of the altar....

A beautiful vase on the organ....

Palms attached to the pews.....

One of the best parts of my church is that we have padded pews.....

Both the seat and the back of the pews which make it quite comfortable for my back....

My friend Elaine decorates our church and several others in the area and does an amazing job....

The title of this post is "I Already Bought Most of my Flowers for the Summer!"

Don't worry!!

I have not lost my mind and gone crazy and bought all my annuals for the Summer even though we are still having low temps here in NEPA in the low 30's in the morning....

After the extreme heat and humidity that we had last Summer, I decided I was going to cut way back on buying annuals this year....

When did NEPA become Tropical????

Yes, quite a bit if last Summer we had dew points in the TROPICAL range!!

I spent most of my time outside last Summer watering, trying to keep my flowers alive, only able to enjoy them looking out the window of my air conditioned home....

I was totally committed to not buying a lot of annuals this year....

Until I started to notice all the faux flowers and greenery popping up on social media like Pinterest, FB reels, You Tube videos and Instagram.....

So I jumped in and ordered several bunches of faux flowers and greenery......

I did a bit of comparison pricing and I found Walmart online to have the best prices......

Yes, over Amazon....

I mainly wanted flowers for the back Patio and yard because the Sun beats down on it all day long in the Summer.....

And I also wanted some for the front porch.....

There are similar bundles of these flowers are all over social media....

18 bushes in all....

A nice size too....

I ordered these flowers to use as fillers....

24 in all!!

Including these ferns...

I ordered these red ones for the front porch....

8 bushes

On these, even the flowers are plastic...

I then wanted to use some greenery to help fill in some of the larger pots....

I ordered these boxwood stems.....

10 bushes....

And I also ordered this garland.....

At first, I thought they shipped the wrong item since the size of the box was so small....

It is amazing to think that 2 strands, 6 1/2 ft. each, popped out of this box like a Jack in the Box....

Now all of these flowers are UV fade resistant and water proof and can be used outside....

I think these are so popular now is because of the effects of Climate Change causing intolerable heat in the Summer in so many places especially those in the South....

I will still buy some annuals for the pots out in the front yard for the Summer....

But I hope to plant mainly perennials in the pots out in the back yard instead of annuals and use these faux flowers on the back patio...

I know one of my goals is to spend less and shop my own home, not buying many new items...

I look at these flowers as an investment and hope to be able to use them for several years, therefore saving me all the money I usually spend on annuals yearly..

In my next post, which will not be until SATURDAY, not only will I be sharing my Annual Spring/Easter Home Tour but I will also be including the front porch decorated for Spring / Easter....

And how I used some of my new purchases when decorating the porch for Easter....

So I hope you will stop by to visit again on SATURDAY!!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  3. Wow, Deb, those flowers look so real!! I've seen them all over as well and have been tempted. Maybe this is the year I'll give them a try, too. Thinking of you this week, my friend. One year...it doesn't seem possible. Sending prayers your way, and yes, give yourself some grace...xo

  7. I am always amazed at the prices you share on food, our prices here seem to be higher, and you are only 1 state away. Hmmm.... why is it men do not eat their veggies? I have one of those here, so I hide them, sneaky me! ha! I have those same flowers Debbie! My flowers are beginning to come off, but I am going to hold out another years before I buy more. I already promised myself to only use what I have this year, so I feel like I have to stick with it. I set personal goals for myself, some of them can be out there, but this one, I am digging my heels in and seeing if I can make it. lol Have a wonderful weekend Debbie, the church looks great, Happy Easter!

  8. Hi Deb..was thinking about you and the family on the sad anniversary...hugs))
I also use faux plants for our planters. We don't have much humidity here we are high desert, but it does get hot up to 100. We would be watering constantly! Yours look great@
    Hugs..Barb

  9. I'm glad you gave yourself grace and time to celebrate and remember Joe. Your pizzas look so yummy (and I can't believe the price for 2!). Your flowers, too, look like a great investment! I'm impressed with how real they look!
