was....

And now for a few Personal Notes...
What I Have Been Cooking & Eating.....
Now I have made no bones that I truly do HATE to cook!!
All that work and it is gone in 10 minutes with nothing to show for it except for a few extra pounds!
Really?
Food has always been my biggest enemy so I am NOT a fan of Food in general and wish I could do without it...
With that being said, I do NOT read any Food Blog Posts as I have no interest but I know a lot of people do so even though I HATE to cook, I still have to as my oldest Joey comes here every day for Dinner..
Don't get me wrong....I can cook but I truly do not enjoy it...
This was something I made last week.....
Nothing fancy....
Easy Peasy Noodle and Chicken Bake..
Click HERE for the recipe on Pinterest....
I also made Chicken Meatballs with spaghetti for dinner on Tuesday evening....
On Fridays, my son Joey gets us Take Home since I feed him dinner all week long...
He ordered a Pan Fried Pizza and a Cheesesteak Stromboli from a local Itailian Eatery, Dino's, located in the Mall right down the road...
Dino's has been a long time favorite of ours with my sons hanging out there when they would walk down to the Mall...
There was enough Stromboli left over that we had it for Dinner on Saturday along with a side dish of Rice-A-Roni Four Cheese Rice...
I INTEND to make this a feature of my blog posts, sharing recipes and local cuisine on Thursdays........
I finally finished changing over my Den from Christmas to Winter....
2nd room done downstairs along with the outside...
I do not take down my Christmas decor all at once as that would be mass disaster...
I take it down room by room, as that is also how I store it since each room has a different color theme when it comes to Christmas, and then re-decorate that room for the next Holiday or Season......
And Yes, I STILL have Christmas up in the Kitchen, Dining Room and Living Room....
I am taking my time packing Christmas away this year, being mindful of how I do it and I INTEND to enjoy the process....
I have decorated the Den for Winter for several years now and I do LOVE it because living in NEPA, our Winters can last well into April and we have gotten some of our best snowstorms in March!
The picture below shows the area of my Den, which was our back Patio originally, that was once part of a larger Storage Room...
There was a wall here, with a door in the middle of it, that led into the Storage Room...
I had my Dad take down the wall to enlarge the room...
The door with the mirror on it is the original door to the storage room which now opens up to what is left of the Storage Room....
This is to the left when you walk into the room from the Kitchen...
On the wall to the left of the storage room door...
I do leave out some of my Christmas decor for Winter.....
This Thomas Kinkade plate is one of the items that I chose to leave out...
On the door is a wreath I made many years ago....
It looked like this....
This year, I decided to change out the gold threaded burlap ribbon bows with bows made from a pretty ivory velvet ribbon with a beaded edging that I found in my stash....
The other door in this corner is to a pantry closet that I had my Dad build for me as I have a very small Kitchen.....
I think I made good use out of what was once part of a storage room....
When my husband Joe was alive, I spent a lot of time here in this corner as he watched his hockey games in the Living Room and I watched my programs out here in this cozy little corner...
I realized that I have not spent much time in the room since he became ill and passed away and felt sad because I also realized that there were other rooms that I was not living in in my own home....
I will address this subject in another post as I INTEND to live in my entire house anymore...
This room had wood paneling which I primed and painted a deep tan above the chair rail that we installed and blue below it........
I ordered a wood looking wall paper border in the colors of burgundy and blue from EBay and put it up myself....
Above the TV.....
The theme for Winter in the Den is what I call a Winter Woodland....
Picture being out in the Woods in the Winter....
What would you see?
Snow covered evergreen trees, pine cones on the ground, birds and owls with an occasional Snowman that children from the neighborhood built after a snow storm......
A former neighbor gifted me this set of 3 owls which I love....
I have one outside on my park bench in front of my house and I also use these 2 for Halloween in my Kitchen....
I moved this evergreen swag from the Powder Room for Christmas, here, into the Den....
A furry owl and a birdhouse....
I left out all my bottle brush trees that I used for Christmas...
To the left of the TV is a snowman that I bought at a church flea market for $1.....
To the right is a bucket of snowballs, a glass with hand painted red cardinals on it, with an ornament from my church which I keep out year round....
In this corner....
This is the electrical box and a no longer used phone box that my Dad disguised by building a box around them ....
I leave the "Believe" sign up year round....
I framed Thomas Kinkade cards that depict Winter scenes...
In the corner is an end table that my husband Joe bought at a church flea market for $6!!!
I bought the red transferware plate in Gabes several years ago...
It is solid oak and even though it is a reproduction, it is still valued at around $200!!!!
I store my seasonal dishes inside of it...
I put a fresh coat of stain on the top and painted the base of it to match other furniture pieces in the room....
I left the greenery arrangement in this tin pocket from Christmas, along with the Snowmen, removing only a Santa....
"Wanted, One Magic Hat" sign was gifted to me by a friend....

I left the Snowmen under this cloche and added this bottle brush tree....
The mug was a Christmas gift from Father Alex and I keep chap stick, a nail file, eye glass wipes, etc. in it so I have it handy when sitting here watching TV....
Above the chair....
I always used the snow balls on this shelf but since I had extra snowball like ornaments that I did not use on one of my Trees in this room, I decided to use them instead....
I do like how they sparkle....
I bought the Birds in Gabes.....
Another plate in the center with vintage bottle brush trees bought at an estate sale....
The snowflakes are also ornaments that I did not use on the Tree this year as it is a smaller Tree than before....
That is a vintage scarf on the shelf.....
I clipped a Winter bird's nest to the sconce, hung a Snowman ornament from it and added a snowball....
The picture is on a timer and changes colors....
It is not really a Christmas scene so I thought it would be perfect in this room for Winter....
Another Bird on this shelf along with a plate, that is chipped on the side that I bought for 25 cents in Hobby Lobby last year!!!
You can't see the chip as I placed this bleached bottle brush tree, that was made and gifted to me by a fellow blogger that has since passed away, in front of it....
2 more of those ornaments....
Same thing in this sconce....
Remember that "Wanted..One Magic Hat" sign on the end table???
Well, here is that One Magic Hat!!
Several years ago, I bought a "Huggle" in Ocean State Job Lot....
Now have you ever scene the pocketed things that you can put over chair arms to hold control, etc????
I made my own with my "Huggle"!!
I took off the seat cushion, draping the side of the "Huggle" over the arms of the chair and placed the seat cushion back on the chair....
I now have pockets on both arms of the chair where I can put my controllers, the cords I use to download pictures to my lap top....
I also want to mention that the TV is on a reproduction Ice Box cabinet that we bought for a mere $15 at an estate sale !!
It was in the basement and used for storage and Joe and I dragged it up the basement steps to the car!!
I am happy to say that I have been sitting out in my corner again, enjoying the space!!
The back door....
I hung a snowflake garland, snow flake ornaments and white jingle bells from the valance rod....
I think they show up nicely against the burgundy lace valance....
I made this snow man wreath....
On the right side of the door...
My Thomas Kinkade 4 Seasons clock....
The Den windows....
I hung these large snowflake ornaments bought, in J.C. Penney's, from the valance rods...
On 2 Home Interiors shelves between the windows....
This sweet figurine was gifted to me by my late friend Anne Marie....
I left the greenery, berries and pine cones out after Christmas....
On the top of the computer armoire.....
Another plate with a chip on the side, disguised by a tree.....
Vintage reindeer that were my parents......
A Thomas Kinkade Angel and clock........
The pewter coaster is a remembrance of the first hospital I worked in that hs since been demolished...
This cloche was also bought at Big Lot's and the small Angel ornament matches a larger one on the China Cupboard that you will see in my next post...
I found this Tree in my late neighbor Elly's attic when cleaning out her house for her sons when she passed away....
The Owls are from Dollar Tree....
On the vintage ash tray table....
Since I decorated this battery operated lighted Tree with snow ball ornaments, a deer head and bird ornaments, it is Tree #2....
A penguin and a Snowman....
Above the chair next to the China Cupboard....
I left out 2 Bearington Bears after Christmas and the gnome stays out year round....
I draped a Winter tea towel over the throw on the chair....
And this is where I will leave off for now.....
I love how this room came out decorated for Winter this year....
I have been spending more time in my cozy corner, watching the morning News and my TV programs in the evening, enjoying my Winter decor....
And I hope you will stop by to visit again on SATURDAY when I will be continuing the tour of the Den decorated for Winter....
I will be sharing my Winter Snow and Ice Tree, #3....
The China Cupboard....
And my Winter Bird Tree, #4
Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!
