I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

I will be posting 3 times a week on MONDAYS, THURSDAYS and SATURDAYS....

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In my last post, I shared  my Winter Beverage Center.....

And the snow storm that hit a good chunk of the Country this past weekend!!

Click HERE if you missed that post!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

For the New Year, I am trying something different with my 3 times weekly posts....

On THURSDAYS, I will feature what I cooked and ate during the week, showcasing local cuisine and a few recipes for things that I actually made...

I decided that on SATURDAYS, I will showcase What I Have Been Up To in the past week, sharing events and places I went to, if any....

On MONDAYS, I will be featuring What I Have Bought or Been Gifted Recently, if anything...

Today is Thursday so I am sharing what I cooked and ate lately.....

Over the weekend, with the snow storm and my son not coming for 2 days for dinner because of it , meant I really did not have to cook!!

Thank the Lord!

I ate some of this NEPA staple....

Along with sandwiches made from this pulled pork from Sam's Club...

The chicken bone broth that I made....

 With these noodles in ti...

And I also made myself another NEPA staple....Pierogies!!

I had a dozen in the freezer that I bought at Christmas so I fried up some butter and onions to have with them as I like them the traditional Polish way....boiled and in butter and onions...

Prior to the storm, I bought myself a hoagie for dinner when I made Joey's steak as I do not like steak.....

This was bought a a local place, Malacari's, and are the same hoagies that I bought for last month's Senior Social Club meeting....

Can't beat that price!

The Friday before the storm, Joey treated for me Take Home from Mission BBQ...

We both got the pulled chicken sandwich ,which was so much that it could not even fit on the bun...

And their vat of Mac N Cheese....

This past week, I have been trying to catch up with things after shoveling out from the snow for 2 days so I still have the Trees to do in my Living Room for Winter/Valentine's...

I also needed to give myself some grace....

Heaven got another Angel one year ago on January 27th, 2025, when my dear friend Anne Marie passed away from Stage 4 Uterine Cancer...

With her baby, Autumn...

After only a few months, my dear friend, Anne Marie, lost her battle .....

At a Tea Room with our friend Rose Marie, who I also lost about 10 years ago...

I miss her so much especially when I am decorating or bought something new for the house because we shared the same love of Holiday decor, vintage items, antiques, Victorian style...

At a Roaring 20's party at the Stegmaier Mansion for the Victorian Society that we belonged to...

 Joe and his "Dames"

We both had strained relationships with our Mothers but were close with our Dad's, we both had a son named Joseph, we both were Nurses...

.

At Harvest Tea's....with my sister, Barb...

We often joked that we were "Sisters from another Mister"...

A Royal Tea at the Stegmaier Mansion...

If there is such a thing as a "Friend Soulmate", she was definitely mine.

 Taken at her beautiful home...

She understood me and never judged or condemned me for my strong opinions and personality...

We both gained and lost weight together....

She got a kick out of blatant honesty, that often offends people......

Anne Marie, Joe and Tony, her husband...

We confided our personal problems to each other...Even though we did not see each other a lot, we kept in touch through FB messages...

I never dreamed that I would lost both my husband Joe and my best friend Anne Marie within only 9 months of each other....

Her husband Tony, was kind enough to gift me this beautiful Butterfly, which she loved, with some of her ashes inside of it so I can keep a little bit of her with me...

I Love you, Anne Marie..

Until we meet again, my friend!!

The last picture of us together in February, 2024, before they both became ill....

This is why I am a bit late with this post....

Today, I am continuing the tour of my Kitchen decorated in a Winter/Valentine's Theme....

There actually is just a bit of Valentine's decor in it this year...

We will start at the door way out to the Den....

A Red Cardinal pot holder....

Winter florals, including a Cardinal, in the grater....

And a pretty pine cone towel, gifted to me by a friend....

Winter florals in the antique Planter's Peanuts canister, that was my Mother's, along with my rolling pin collection....

 Above the stove....

I framed another picture from a calendar....

 Hot cocoa towels....

Star and Snowman cookie cutters hanging on the cabinet doors....

The small counter top between the stove and sink....

A Winter bird house pot holder and a Snowman candle...

Where the Kitchen window used to be before we made the patio into another room and took the window out...

I still treat it as a window....

Again, the theme for Winter in my Kitchen is Red Cardinals and Snowman....

Winter birdhouses with Red Cardinals hung from the fretwork....

I made the Winter swag and used plaid and Red Cardinal ribbon for make the bow...

Hung a plaid valance that I made from a tablecloth....

3 different ornaments hung together from the valance....

On the sides of the cabinets....

I left out the Hot Cocoa signs after Christmas...

Red Cardinal ornaments hanging from the chandy...

This year, I added the handmade heart ornament to this plaque that I got in a Michael's surprise box several years ago....

This is what it originally looked like and this is what I did to it...

I stripped off the fabric and flower...

I cut the border off this pot holder from Dollar Tree...

Glued it to the plaque and trimed it with trims and ribbon roses,,,

I made 2 of these...

And this year, I added the hearts to both of them.....

I also hung hearts above the hot cocoa signs...

New this year, is the display that I did on the window sill....

I decided to leave out the red and white trees after Christmas....

A Love sign with a Red Cardinal on it...

In the middle is this beautiful Snow man with Red Cardinals that my sister, Barb, gifted me for Christmas....

I had the light post with Red Cardinals on it...

A Joy sign with Red Cardinals....

Plaid dish cloths and a cute deer soap dispenser gifted to me by a friend along with a Snowman one....

In the corner.....

 A snowflake towel....

I placed a big mouth Snowman candy container on top of the wire tea cup....

And placed snow balls inside of it....

Valentine's towels, a Snowman oven mit and a Winter holly berry rug....

I already shared my Winter Beverage Center.....

 I framed another calendar picture....

 The top of the fridge....

I bought this Cardinal tea pot at a church flea market....

These Snowmen were gifted to me by friends....One with Red Cardinals and one with hearts...

My dear friend Anne Marie gifted me this incredible Snowman...

I added a Red Cardinal to it and the lamp shade....

A Jim Shore Angel ornament with Red Cardinals on it and a Red Cardinal figurine...

  1. Like you, I love cardinals, and you have so many lovely pieces. Everything looks lovely with your decorating. Freezing cold has followed a series of snow storms, so a little something to share today, my gallery walls with all sorts of nature prints.
