Today, I am so excited to be sharing how I decorated the Hutch in the Dining Room for Halloween this year....
Again, since many of you have questioned where I will be putting all
the new things that I recently bought and made, I will be pointing them
out.....
After looking through tons of pictures on Pinterest, I decided to take all the dishes out of the Hutch....
I never did anything like this as I always displayed dishes in this Hutch....
After I found this sign at Dollar Tree, I knew exactly what I wanted to do....
I wanted to create an Apothecary Cabinet!!!!
Yes, that is Minvera standing by it......
I will get to her in a few minutes.....
So let me show you the Hutch first.....
We will start with the top of the Hutch....
I moved the ceramic Haunted House, that Joe bought for me our first Halloween that we were married, into the Kitchen.....
That Haunted House was on top of this Hutch for 45 years....
And it was time for a change....
I made all the potion bottles several years ago....
And usually displayed them on the buffet.....
The glasses with the orange skeleton hands were bought at Dollar Tree last year....
Inside the Hutch....
I bought these paper plates at Dollar Tree to use inside the Hutch.....
I removed the glass doors from the Hutch....
The top shelf.....
You may remember these candlesticks that I bought at Big Lot's......
They are the only new things on this shelf.....
The skull is sitting in an antique sterling silver bridal basket.....
The middle shelf.....
I bought these in Dollar General for $2 each....
And this mask for $1......
The Arsonic mugs were bought last year at Big Lot's and the caldron was bought at J.C. Penney's.....
The bottom shelf.....
I bought these candles in Dollar Tree.......
Along with these.....
And I made this ....
I made the Spell book several years ago....
And there you have it!!
My Halloween Apothecary Cabinet....
I hung 2 Dollar Tree signs, bought last year, on the handles of the drawer.....
You may remember little demure Minerva who resides in my upstairs Sitting Room....
She was all decked out for a Ball this past Christmas.....
And I used to decorate her for Halloween....
However,
before moving her upstairs, she used to creep Joe out because he felt
like the eyes on the skeleton head were watching him and following him
about the room!!!
This year, I have decided that Minerva is gong to make a come back downstairs in the Dining Room for Halloween....
As a Witch!!!
I started with this pumpkin head that I bought in Gabes for $1.49...
I painted it a deep orange as I did not want her head to be so bright....
I wanted her to be wearing a mask as if she was going to a Halloween Masquerade Ball....
I also bought this one.....
Both came from Dollar General......
I picked up this scarf from Dollar Tree.....
And these came from Dollar General......
And of course, what witch does not have a broom???
I bought it at Dollar Tree....
And here is Minerva......
All dressed up and ready to go to a Witch's Halloween Ball.....
I am really quite happy with how she came out.....
Let's take a closer look....
I still hung 2 signs on the window divider behind her....
I made her witch's hat.....
I turned the pumpkin head around so the face is in the back because I did not want it to take away from the mask.....
I left her dressed the way I dressed her before Christmas last year....
I added a Halloween ornament that looks like a brooch ......
I cut the scarf in half and tied it around her waist.......
And you can see where I used the other mask that looks like a cat....
Of course she is wearing her skeleton gloves....
I added a bow that I had to the broom.....
Joe bought this "EEK!" sign for 90% off at Big Lot's last year....
I placed it at her feet along with 2 pumpkins that Joe also bought for 90% off that I embellished.....
I am really glad that I decided to move her back downstairs....
I had such a good time decorating the Dining Room a bit differently this year than other years...
I hope you enjoyed seeing what I have done so far!!
On FRIDAY, I will be continuing my Tour of the Dining Room all decked out for Halloween including my Halloween Tree....
So I hope you will stop by to visit again on FRIDAY!

Love it all, Debbie! Decorating for Halloween is almost as fun as decorating for Christmas! Love how you made Minerva into a witch for the Halloween Ball! I think if it had eyes it would creep me out a bit too! LOL TFS
ReplyDeleteYou have a better dollar store than we do. I would have bought that Apothecary Shop sign too!
ReplyDeleteI used to put on a haunted house with my youth group. I can't believe I never thought of turning my own china cabinet into a cabinet of curiosities! What a fantastic idea!!!! I just love it!!! You have the greatest ideas. Wonderful!
