4 Walls in the Kitchen, Part 1

 Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Over the past few weeks, I have been sharing a bunch of little projects that I did because I wanted to refresh our Kitchen...........change it up a bit........

In my last post, I thought I would give you a break from my Kitchen so I shared my Fairy Garden Mantle in the upstairs Sitting Room.......
Click HERE if you missed it......

I want to Thank Roseann, over at This Autoimmune Life, for featuring my post, Been Dabbling in the Kitchen, from last week's Snickerdoodle Create Bake Make Party!!!
Thanks so much, Roseann!!

Please stop by and link up to this lovely party!!

The style of my Kitchen is eclectic for sure.......

I call it my French Country, Victorian, Vintage, Farm Style  Kitchen.......

I think it has elements of all the above styles making it MY STYLE!!!!

I will be sharing the Kitchen in a series of 4 posts.......

One for each wall........

We will start today with the wall that I have shared the most in all the years that I have been blogging......
I always say that this is my Focal wall in the Kitchen.........
This wall is purely decorative and really serves no purpose in the Kitchen.......
Maybe that is why I like it the best!!!!

I make no bones about the fact that I truly hate to cook!!!

Okay, pull up a chair and something to drink because this is going to be a detailed post and is loaded with pictures.......

Let's start on the left side of the wall, by the hall way, shall we??????
I am a color girl and the kitchen is painted red and a pale yellow.......

There is a chair rail on this wall.......

On the left side above the chair rail.......
This shelf , that I painted red, was made over 35 years ago by my Dad out of scrap lumber that he had lying around his work shop........
I have collected many Vintage and Vintage style pieces for my Kitchen for a very long time, buying most of them at yard sales, estate sales and flea markets.......

I have also had copper pieces in my Kitchen for over 30 years........

They never went out of style in my home!!!
A Vintage canister set......
The vintage glass jar which I have filled with faux pastries came from my neighbor Elly's house who had a wealth of vintage goodies!!!!
The grinder is similar to the one that my Mom used to grind the nuts for Polish nut roll for the Holidays and my Dad used to grind the meat to make Kielbasi......
I used to love turning the handle of the grinder to "help" them when I was a kid!!

My nephew has my parent's grinder as it was too large to attach to this shelf.....

Next to the shelf, hanging on a vintage style hook is an apron bought at a flea market.....
The vintage sifter was my Mother's......
Hung on the wall underneath the shelf is an antique looking phone that actually worked which I took from my neighbor Elly's house.......
I see that Country Sampler magazine still shows this phone for sale.......
The side of the hutch.....
How do you like my new "Grocery" sign?????
This is one of 3 white and black enamel signs that I recently bought at Michael's.....
This sign and another one were originally priced at $14.00 each........
They were marked down to 50% off and I had a 20% off coupon which took them down to $5.60 each!

I bought a blank sign with you will see in a minute that was originally $18 , marked down 60% off and then with the 20 % off coupon, it came down to $5.76!!!

The 3 signs cost all of $17.98!!

Under the chair rail......
You may remember the post I did on this chalkboard where I simply glued a tile I had over the original one......
Click HERE if you missed it.....
And maybe you remember the post I did sharing how I painted these milk bottles that are from a dairy that is still open in our area.......
Click HERE if you missed that post......
In this yellow milk can, is a floral arrangement that I did and a lighted LED branch.....
A vintage flower iron door stop sits on the floor next to the hutch.....
This hutch is one of my most treasured projects.......
I "married" a hutch that I bought for $5 at a church flea market and a desk that I bought at a yard sale for $10!!!

I have changed a few things around a bit ........
2 old Home Interiors pictures hang above the hutch....

On top of the hutch.....
A few vintage pieces......
An apple clock and a rolling pin bought at Michael's.....
On the 2 shelves......
The top shelf.....
I moved my vintage cherry pie dish over here from the top of the refrigerator.....
A few more vintage pieces.....
I bought the Feed Sack ornament last year in Boscov's......
Another vintage glass jar from my neighbor Elly's filled with vintage  cookie cutter's.....
Bottom shelf......
A vintage yellow ware bowl filled with kitchen utensils, cookie cutters and a bread pan......
This sweet pitcher was gifted to me by a dear friend......
Let's take a look at the desk area of the hutch.......
Just a simple tea setting......
I will turn off the milk glass lamp.....
I bought the "Home Sweet Home" sign 2 years ago in Michael's.....

The tea set and mugs were bought at T.J.Maxx........
A faux cherry pie and pastries......
A Rooster place mat bought at Dollar Tree......
I wanted to show you these sweet measuring spoons that I was gifted for Christmas from a dear friend!!!
 Love the copper!!
Underneath the desk area.......
Vintage canning jars and a copper lantern rest on top of a vintage metal picnic basket......
A bird hangs from the knob on the desk drawer......
Let's take a look in the right side of the hutch.......
A pot holder and apron hangs on the side of the hutch.....
The right side of the wall......
The other shelf that my Dad made for me......
I have had these copper measuring cups that hang below the shelf for many, many years......
An antique yellow ware bowl filled with wooden apples......
A vintage Mr. Peanut in honor of Wilkes Barre being the birthplace of what is now Planter's Peanuts!!!

This is from the Planter's Peanut site:

Amedeo Obici Founder of Planters

1906

Amedeo Obici, along with his friend and business partner, Mario Peruzzi, founded Planters Peanut Company in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Founded by a pair of immigrants from Italy in Wilkes Barre, Pa.

Another vintage canister set......
A vintage sifter and apron hang from an antique style hook......
Hanging below the shelf is our "Memory" Board......
This is where all appointments, Joe's work schedule and everything that is important and we need to remember is posted!!!!

My other new white and black enamel signs from Micheal's.......
I hung this sign and the one on the other side of the hutch using red and white Baker's twine......
Hanging below the chair rail is an unmarked white and black enamel sign which was 60% off and I had a 20% off coupon........
I hung a "Fresh Apple's" sign over it.......

The smaller sign was also bought at Michael's 2 years ago......
The vintage board came from my neighbor Elly's house which I painted with chalkboard paint.....

And that completes this post on the first wall in my Kitchen and the small changes that I have made to freshen it up a bit!!!!
My Knee Replacement surgery is scheduled for 3:00 pm on Monday, April 29th......

Can you tell that I am a former Rehab Nurse since I already have my assistive devices ready for my recovery at home?????
Rolling walker, quad cane, shower chair and I even have a tub ready to put my Polar Care Ice machine in so my floors do not get wet!!!

Joey, Jim and Danielle are coming over today, Sunday, for some pizza so I can see them before my surgery....

We were able to get the back patio and back yard cleaned up and ready for the Summer before my surgery so I can sit out there and enjoy it.......

I will give you a few sneak peaks......
I even managed to get my Fairy Garden Tub ready......
And my Gnome Garden Tub Ready.....
However, as May starts, our temps. are taking a fall with low's in the 30's and a chance of snow flurries!!!!!

It happens every year and that is why I do not plant any of my annuals in my pots until right before Memorial Day........

I will be sharing more of my Kitchen, my Garden themed Sitting Room and our front porch, patio and yard in future posts........

When I am discharged from the hospital and am home, I will post to let you know how everything went!!

Thanks so much for all your well wishes and prayers!!!

I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

  1. I love how much you love all the stuff you have collected over the years. I would sure hate to have to spring clean though and dust and wash everything. LOL Have a wonderful, blessed Sunday- xo Diana

  2. You have everything decorated and in a neat arrangement. Very Spring and already for you when you get home after your surgery. I saved my cane and walker, never did have a shower chair. I guess I took a chance standing, just didn't think about that one. I sending you many wishes for a successful surgery and recovery. Let us hear.

  6. Praying for a quick and total recovery on your surgery lady. I know you will be glad when that is totally behind you. I used to have one of those old phones hanging on the wall in my kitchen. I honestly don't remember what happened to it. I know I replaced it. It actually was a working phone but seemed it did tear up or something. I should have saved it! Hugs and blessings to you. Cindy

  8. I hope the surgery went well. I hope the recovery goes better than expected. You have some amazing kitchen collectables. I love the aprons and the sifters. They remind me of summers with my grandmother. She always wore a darling apron. Mr. Peanut is amazing. Hugs to you. I can't wait to hear about your surgery.
