How I Love Transferware Dishes

 In my last post, I shared a Spring Vignette on the top of the China Cupboard in the Den ......
I used several pieces of my red and blue Transferware Collection in this display......

Today, I will be sharing the inside of the China Cupboard ...........

The Den is the only room where I do some decorating for Saint Patrick's Day.....

Unfortunately, because of my Knee Replacement Surgery scheduled for the end of April, I will not be decorating for St. Patrick's Day or Easter this year.......

I know that I have shown you my Transferware Collection numerous times in the past but I have changed things around a bit and displayed the dishes a bit differently......

What exactly is Transferware?????

"Transferware is the term given to pottery that has had a pattern applied by transferring the print from a copper plate to a specially sized paper and finally to the pottery body. While produced primarily on earthenware, transfer prints are also found on ironstone, porcelain and bone china."
The color theme of the Den is blue, burgundy and beige so these dishes fit in perfectly ......
The China Cupboard was given to me by a neighbor who was going to throw it out......

I refinished it to match several other pieces of furniture in the Den.......
Hanging on the left side of the cupboard.........
Is a blue toile ornament and a Victorian Lady sachet that I embellished.....
Hanging from the top of the China Cupboard is a cute wooden Garden Glove......." A Thyme to Reap"......
And hanging on the door which I like to keep open, is a pair of embellished gloves, a dove ornament and a reproduction Victorian Lady Flue Cover......
You can see that I hung a lace scarf over the door.....

I decided to use quite a bit of pieces this time......
No use keeping them stored away where no one can see them, right?????

The sugar bowl did not have a lid when I bought it so I placed a flower made out of panty hose in it......

I bought a whole box of different colored flowers made out of panty hose at a church flea market....

I also bought this covered casserole at a church flea market but there are no markings on it.......

    Your transferware collection is amazing. I have some Old Britian Castles. I love that it looks almost pinkish. That soup tureen from the church flea market is amazing. Great find.

    Your collection is exquisite Debbie. I've always loved Delftware (the Dutch transferware). My Mom had a huge collection when we were growing up. Sadly she had to give most of them away when she moved into the old age home but I have such fond memories of Mom's old house and seeing your collection brought it all back again. I hope your knee isn't giving you too much trouble. Sending love as always
