I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

St Patrick's Day Decorations, Part 1, 2018

 Welcome!!!

I recently said that I would not be posting unless I felt I had something interesting to share......

This is a photo of the Tree in the Den that I decorated for St. Patrick's Day for the past few years......
This year, I decided that I would not be decorating this Tree for St. Patrick's Day any more so what was I going to do with all the ornaments that I used to decorate this Tree????????

I decided to re-purpose them as other decorations and to use them to decorate a smaller Tree for St. Patrick's Day.......
I will be sharing the smaller tree in my next post.......

I thought you would like to see what exactly I did with those decorations used to decorate the larger Tree.........

In this post, the first of 2 parts, I will be sharing the inside and outside of the China Cupboard in the Den.......
First, let me say that NEPA has a very rich Irish history and St. Patrick's Day is pretty much celebrated with parades and events for the ENTIRE month of March!!!

I kid you not!!!

So I had to have at least something decorated for St. Patrick's Day in the house.......
Let's take a look inside the china cupboard.......
Like previous years, I have used my green Olde Curiosity Shop dishes and a few pieces of green depression glass to decorate the inside of the China Cupboard......

Hanging from the top of the cupboard are 3 ornaments........
I have used more of the ornaments in side the cupboard too......

The top shelf......
Leprechaun hats on each side of the top shelf.......
And tea pot ornaments with a shamrock design.........

I taped green paper foil shamrock doilies to the back of the cupboard.......
Ball ornaments sit inside of 2 white mugs, one that says Coffee and the other says Tea.....
And Pots of Gold .......
The middle shelf........
Vintage styled St. Patrick's plaques that were once used as ornaments......
A Sugar and Creamer that match the mugs......
A green depression glass bowl with 2 Leprechaun ornaments on each side of it.........
Another vintage styled plaque which was bought at Michael's several years ago......
The bottom shelf......
In the center is the tea pot that matches the white mugs and sugar and creamer......
Again, ball ornaments rest inside of cups......
Shamrock pipes.......
A sweet Irish angel........

You can see that I also hung some decorations on each side of the China Cupboard.......

After I took the initial photos for this post, I decided to add some of the flowers and shamrock picks that I have used in decorating the larger Tree to the wreath that I made a few years ago and the shamrock that I bought at a church flea market....

I bought this Shamrock made from 3 lacy hearts for $1.00........
I added green and white carnations to each clover.......
Along with shamrock picks and more carnations to the center......

Hanging on the door that I leave open, over on the other side..........
Is a wreath that I made a few years ago.........
I made it a bit fuller by adding more carnations and shamrock picks to it......

Hanging below the wreath is a vintage styled plaque that was bought a few years ago at Dollar Tree.......
Hanging from the lace scarf that is draped over the door are 2 more ornaments.......

So you can see that I made good use out of some of the ornaments once used to decorate the larger Tree......
In my next post, I will be sharing how I decorated beneath the China Cupboard........
And the smaller Tree.........
So I hope you will be back to visit again soon.......

And thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  2. Debbie, I adore your Saint Patty's decor. I will not be putting anything out for St. Patty's day as I am in the midst of doing a makeover in the kitchen. Yesterday I had to talk myself out of setting my table with my pretty greens and white's as I usually do. Too much going on this season at my house right now. But, I can look at all of your pretties and be satisfied. Happy Wednesday. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  3. Debbie all those green ornaments are so pretty. I don't decorate for St. Patrick's because I don't have any decorations and right now I am in the middle of getting settled into our home but if I did this would definitely be the way to go!

  4. You really know how to go all out for St. Paddy's Day, Debbie!! Your decorations are amazing! Looking forward to seeing what's new for this year! I've never decorated for that day since my son was born on March 17th, at 26 weeks and at the time, we didn't know if he would make it or not. So that day has always been devoted to him - Adam's Day!!!

  9. Wow Debbie, so much lucky Irish green all over the place. Those vintage St. Patrick's plaques are gorgeous and I love the way you draped the lace scarf over the door. It makes for such an interesting backdrop. I saw on your facebook page that you're still getting a whole bunch of snow. Hope the weather improves soon so you can enjoy your lovely garden again
