I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Blogging has always been a stress reliever for me along with an avenue to share my passions which are my home and my garden.....

I feel it is a personal Journal that, hopefully, someday, my Twin Granddaughters will be able to look back on to learn about who I was....

I will be posting 3 times a week on MONDAYS, THURSDAYS and SATURDAYS....

As always, click on each picture if you would like to enlarge it....

In my last post, I shared how I decorated my front porch for Fall....

And now for a few Personal Notes...

For the New Year, I am trying something different with my 3 times weekly posts....

On THURSDAYS, I will feature what I cooked and ate during the week, showcasing local cuisine and a few recipes for things that I actually made...

I decided that on SATURDAYS, I will showcase What I Have Been Up To in the past week, sharing events and places I went to, if any....

On MONDAYS, I will be featuring What I Have Bought or Been Gifted Recently, if anything...

I found something really interesting in Dollar Tree yesterday.....

They were putting out some of their Dollar Tree Plus Christmas merch.....

When I saw these, I grabbed them!!

These are ornaments but you do not have to use them as such.....

I just love them!!

6 cupcakes for $5.....

And will you look at these!!!

I do not intend to use these cakes as ornaments either....

Again, all 6 for a mere $5!!!

The back of them.....

There were only 2 sets of each and I am sure they are going to be hard to find after this.....

I was thrilled to have found them!!

Today, I am going to share how I decorated my front yard for Fall.......

I did pack up all my Summer outdoor decor....

I will start where I left off in my last post....

On this side of the front porch.....

The flower bed under the Living Room window....

I am surprised that the hostas planted in those pots have not started to yellow ....

They usually do around this time of year....

 Sunflower stakes and Pumpkin stakes.....

I have to put lights on the star on the Amish buggy wheel but I will wait until I can find a set of warm white LED ones on a white wire.....

My Target chippy angel that I bought many years ago....

On the retaining wall that separates my yard from the townhouse next door .....

The red impatiens are starting to yellow.....

 The coleus is doing well.....

The front flower bed on top of the slope in front of my house.....

These red impatiens are looking pretty good....

A Fall mini flag....

I took the pot that had pink begonias planted in it out to the back yard and brought this one that I planted marigold seeds in out front.....

Hopefully, the slugs will not gnaw them down to nothing......

My red cardinal wind chime that was gifted to me when my husband Joe passed away....

My park bench.....

I found burlap bows with gold thread running through the ribbon that I used to use on my Winter Tree out in the Den and decided to use them on the lamp post and the lantern.....

The red begonias are still doing pretty good....

These marigolds were spared from the slugs as the pot was not on the ground....

 Some faux pumpkins......

I have had this faux pumpkin that I bought at Michael's for probably 20 years....

I also brought this pot of marigolds that i planted from seed from the back yard to the front.....

Another mini Fall flag....

The marigolds I planted in the pot in the red truck planter were devoured by slugs so I propagated some coleus in this pot.....

The front porch and my front yard will stay like this until I decorate for Halloween in the beginning of October.....

See my neighbor's tree across from me starting to turn colors already....

With the setting Sun shining on it.....

By the middle of October it will be an orange and red flaming glory!!

I am way behind in starting my Fall/Halloween decorating because Labor Day was so late and I wait until after Labor Day to start....

I hope to start the inside of the house this week.....

And I hope you will stop by to visit again on THURSDAY for my next post.....

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

And try to find JOY in every single day!

  1. Hi Debbie -- Your porch is so bright and cheerful -- love all the potted flowers, especially the coleus -- gorgeous. The cake slice/cupcake ornaments from Dollar Tree are too cute. The pictures of your chippy angel always look like it is covered with aluminum foil -- maybe it's just my computer but it looks shiny silver. Fall in your area is gorgeous -- the tree colors are magnificent. There are a few trees here in the desert that change color for fall, but nothing close to what you have. Enjoy the rest of your week.
