And now for a few Personal Notes...

For the New Year, I am trying something different with my 3 times weekly posts....

On THURSDAYS, I will feature what I cooked and ate during the week, showcasing local cuisine and a few recipes for things that I actually made...

I decided that on SATURDAYS, I will showcase What I Have Been Up To in the past week, sharing events and places I went to, if any....

On MONDAYS, I will be featuring What I Have Bought or Been Gifted Recently, if anything...

Today is SATURDAY, so I want to share what I have been up to....

On Tuesday, members of The Young at Heart Senior Social Club that I belong to and am President of, met for lunch at a local restaurant called The Cafe....

 There was 18 of us....

As you can see, we all enjoyed a great lunch and a wonderful time together....

We were there over 2 1/2 hours!!

I had a turkey club wrap which was delicious....

39 years ago, on February 26th, my life drastically changed forever...

Losing my Dad suddenly, without the chance to say good bye, still is, after all the other losses that I have experienced,  the greatest loss of my life and the most traumatic....

My Dad was my best friend and I got to spend more time with him than most children get to spend with their Dad....

My Mother could not return to the house he built for her as he passed away in that house, with my sister and I finding him...

She sold my childhood home 3 months later and moved into a Senior Apartment at the age I am now, 68 years old...

Every Holiday tradition I had ended and I could no longer "go home"...

I was 29 years old with a 3 and 5 year old who would not remember their beloved Grampy...

I have missed him for 39 years and think about him each and every day....

Last picture taken of my Dad about a week before he passed away...

I wrote several blog posts about my Dad and our very special relationship....

If interested, you can read them HERE and HERE....

I had to give myself some Grace this week....

And I finally realized why I do not look forward to Spring and Easter.....

And actually try to hold on to Winter as long as I can...

They say Easter and Spring is a time for New Beginnings.....

 So true....

Easter 1987.... 1st Holiday without my Dad, every tradition I ever knew was gone as my Mother was selling my childhood home after not being able to stay in it after my Dad died there...

My entire life changed forever and I had to start all over in 1987, forming all new Holiday traditions for my family...

Easter 2004.... 1st Holiday without my Mother, who passed away only 2 weeks prior on March 29th,,

The new tradition I started when my Dad passed away was that my mother would come to my house for Easter dinner and other Holidays so again my life drastically changed forever...

Easter 2024.....I knew as we celebrated Easter that it would be my husband Joe's last one with us & I worried about my sons...Joe passed away from pancreatic cancer only 2 weeks later...

Easter 2025....a new beginning again with major life changes for my family as we celebrated the 1st Easter without Joe...

Can I tell you that I am really tired of new beginnings in my life happening in Spring around Easter???

Today, I will be sharing Part one of my St. Patrick's Day decorations in the Den...

I have frequently mentioned here on this Blog that my ancestors were part of the huge influx of Eastern European immigrants who came to this area and others in Penna. to work in the Coal Mines and the Steel Industry in the early 1900's....

Prior to that, since Penna. was one of the original 13 Colonies, it was predominately English, Welsh, Irish and some Germans that inhabited the area...

In the early 1800's , the Irish immigrated here to escape the Potato Famine in Ireland....

So there is a large amount of residents of Irish descent in this area and Saint Patrick's Day is a BIG thing here with the Parade in Scranton listed among the largest in the Country....

I was deciding whether or not to decorate for St. Patrick's Day as I skipped it last year....

But since I only decorate the China Cupboard in the Den, the area around it and a 4 ft. Tree on the side of it, I thought why not!!

It is hard to believe that all of my Saint Patrick's Day decorations fit in this one tub.....

It is the use of my vintage green Old Curiosity Shop dishes which really add to it, I think!!

Sort of reminds me in cottages in Ireland...

Also, I have used a lot of ornaments as decorations......

I used to decorate the 4 ft. Tree that I decorated for Christmas in the Den, for Saint Patrick's Day.....

But then I opted to decorate the Den for Winter so I needed to do something with all those ornaments.........

That was when I came up with the idea to just decorate the China Cupboard and the area around it....

Along with the 4 ft. Tree on the side of it....

For today's post, I am going to be sharing this part of the China Cupboard.....

 On the top.....

I decided to use the green mercury glass trees that I used in my Living Room Hutch for Christmas......

I bought the Old Curiosity Shop dishes at Salvation Army a few years ago......

I love the different pictures on the dishes....

A Jim Shore Angel ornament.....

My late friend Anne Marie gifted me a few antique postcards which I will be highlighting in this post and  my next one.........

This one is postmarked 1918 so since it is over 100 years old, it is considered Antique...

2 years ago, I placed some of them in Christmas card picture frames that I had in my stash.....

I made this wreath a very long time ago....

Many years ago, I bought 4 vintage styled St. Patrick's Day plaques at Michael's....

Another one of those plaques from Michael's....

This Home Interiors figurine always reminded me of an Irish Lass....

The tea pot with shamrocks on it is an ornament that I bought at The Christmas Tree Shop....

Another vintage postcard....

No date on this one...

I also framed it....

The Leprechaun is an ornament....

My late husband Joe bought this sign in Big Lot's on Clearance at 90% off and I embellished it using this tape....

Which I put around the edges....

Inside the China Cupboard....

I used 2 green charger plates and more green mercury glass trees....

I hung a card ornament in the center.....

 On the top shelf.....

I placed this sign, bought in Dollar Tree, many years ago in front of the green charger plate....

Ornaments in a green depression glass bowl.....

The pipes came from Michael's....

 Green foil paper shamrock doilies....

 A Saint Patrick ornament....

 Another ornament from Michael's....

The middle shelf....

A creamer and sugar set bought at T J Maxx....

A Leprechaun and Angel ornament....

Gold coins from Dollar Tree.......

The hat is also from Dollar Tree....

The bottom shelf....

I placed this sign from Dollar Tree in front of the charger plate...

The matching tea pot to the creamer and sugar....

2 more ornaments placed in tea cups....

 Another ornament....

On the other side , hanging on the door.....

I bought this many years ago at a yard sale for $1....

2 years ago, I embellished it using green velvet ribbon.....

And this is where I will leave off for today........
