I
feel it is a personal Journal that, hopefully, someday, my Twin
Granddaughters will be able to look back on to learn about who I
was....
I will be posting 3 times a week on MONDAYS, THURSDAYS and SATURDAYS....

And now for a few Personal Notes...
For the New Year, I am trying something different with my 3 times weekly posts....
On THURSDAYS,
I will feature what I cooked and ate during the week, showcasing local
cuisine and a few recipes for things that I actually made...
I decided that on SATURDAYS, I will showcase What I Have Been Up To in the past week, sharing events and places I went to, if any....
Since today is Thursday, I am sharing a few things that I have cooked and some Take Home food.....
My son Joey treats on Fridays and last Friday, he treated me to a Cheese Steak Pizza from one of our favorite local Italian Eateries, Serpico's.....
So good and so filling....
Back in January, my son Joey received this envelope at Mission BBQ....
It was not to be opened until a customer returned in February....
Each envelope holder won something!!
This was Joey's prize!!
We got Take Home last Monday , as Joey was off for President's Day, and with Lent starting this week, I will not be eating meat on Fridays until after Easter.....
We both got the pulled chicken sandwiches....
More meat than can actually fit on the bun......
Joey ate most of my Fries....
Because we always get this vat of Mac N Cheese......
Delicious!!!
On Saturday, Joey requested one of his favorites, Crock Pot Chicken Noodle Bake.....
I use 3/4 c. of butter instead of 1/2 c/ that the recipe calls for.....
Since it was Ash Wednesday yesterday, which meant no meat for me, I made up a package of an NEPA staple, Pierogies....
I like them the traditional Polish way...boiled with butter and onions....
I made up Mrs. T's, which is a Pennsylvania product and made by the Twardzik family in Shenandoah, Pa.
They make them in all different flavors but again, I like the traditional Polish ones....
With the beginning of Lent, NEPA, which has a rich ethnic heritage because of all the Eastern European immigrants, including my grandparents, that settled here in the early 1900's, is now abound with Lenten Food Sales at churches, fire departments, VFW's and American Legions.......
From all different kinds of pizza, pierogies, haluski, potato pancakes, Pagash, clam chowder and fish fries....
And this NEPA staple that appears at all kinds of festivals, fairs, etc. all over our area...
They even have 2 locations and one is fairly close to me!
I am thrilled that my church will be holding their annual potato pancake sales during Lent so that is what we will be having every Friday evening for the next 4 weeks.....
Today, I am continuing my Winter/Heart Month tour.....
For the first time ever, I consciously decorated a little bit for Winter in my bedroom....
I say consciously because for 2 years, with my husband's illness and passing, I never got to take down Christmas in my upstairs, including my bedroom....
This year, I wanted to leave certain things out after Christmas because with the cold and snow that we have been having here in NEPA this Winter, our coldest one in 3 decades, I was spending my evenings upstairs in my bedroom, watching TV so I could turn the heat down a bit downstairs for the night..
You may remember that I had finally got around to passing on some of Joe's Pittsburgh Sports collections and redecorated certain areas of the bedroom, making the room mine.....
I changed this area where Joe's dresser is.....
And made it mine.....
I enjoy seeing it when I am sitting in bed , watching TV...
I kept Joe's Gentleman's dresser pretty much as is because I love the Victorian style of it.....
I hardly bought anything after Christmas this year due to my INTENTION for this year of only buying what I need or truly can not live without!
LOL!
These pink deer in Hobby Lobby for 90% off fell into that category of "what I could not live without".....
I decided that I would use them as a Winter decoration in my bedroom this year....
So I added them to the dresser.....
I wanted to dress them up a bit so I looked in my ribbon stash for ribbon to create bows for the deer.....
Not only did I find blue ribbon, which was what I wanted for the deer, but I also discovered I had a pretty pink velvet like ribbon.....
I made bows out of that ribbon for the large brass Home Interiors candle sticks.....
And used the blue shimmery ribbon to make bows for the deer.....
Which are in the color theme of blue and pink....
My Victorian Lady Tree is decorated in ornaments that are purses, hats, shoes, gloves, boudior dressers, etc....
So it really is not decorated in Christmas items.....
Joe often told me that I should just leave it up year round and that might be a possibility.....
For Christmas, I set up a Village vignette here.....
I simply removed a few things that were blatantly Christmas....
And was able to leave the rest out for Winter....
A Rosie B. tea set that was gifted to me by a friend.....
An Angel and a cute figurine with a snow shovel....
Blue snowflakes and deer....
I did take the lamp away and added another white tree....
I even left out the blue toy soldiers....
The figurine on the right is holding a heart....
In the evening.....
On to my new lamps in the bedroom....
In a past post, I shared that I ordered these lamps from J.C. Penney's after seeing that they were on Clearance when they popped up on my FB feed....
Original price was $160!!!
85% off and an additional 15% off brought them down to......
WAIT FOR IT.......
$17.74 for the pair!!!!!!
I had no intention of using the lamp shades that came with these lamps as I knew they would be way too big for where I wanted to use them, along with them not being my style.........
I was hoping that the shades I had used on the lamps that I previously had on my vanity would work on these lamps......
Originally, I had 2 of these vintage cherub lamps on the vanity....
But one broke so I had to use a shorter lamp to replace it....
So when I saw that set of lamps, at that price, I quickly ordered them.....
I am happy with how they look......
They are taller than the original ones....
Which took a bit of time getting used to.....
I embellished these shades many yeas ago....
I will probably donate the lamp shades that they came with or pass them on to family that may want them.....
I do enjoy spending the evenings in my bedroom, watching TV and being on my lap top....
It has a nice cozy feeling.....
I hope you will stop by to visit again on SATURDAY for my next post...
Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!
