I want to Thank
to Andrea, over at The Cottage Market, for choosing my post, Mid Summer Front and Back Yard Garden Update, as one of her features from last
week's Morning Cup of Joe link Party!!
Thanks so much, Andrea!!
Please stop by and link up to this lovely party!
And now for a few Personal Notes...
I am so happy that Hurricane Debby has left the east coast as I was so tired of hearing about it....
You know if Joe was still alive, he surely would have had a Field Day with that at my expense even though I spell my name differently....
So,
after the downpours we got last night, it looks like 3 1/4 inches of
rain from Hurricane Debby since I emptied the gauge at 7:30pm on
Thursday.....
We had several hours of steady pouring rain here in NEPA which caused a lot of flooding in many communities....
And I even had a bit of ponding on my walkways out in the back yard the rain was so heavy....
I guess the weed block I used when laying these brick walkways was
really good because it took quite a bit of time for the water to recede
in these areas.....
I
am also glad that I listened to my Dad and did not make the paver patio
extension flush with the patio concrete block but instead, laid it
about 3/4 of an inch lower or else I may have gotten water in my Den....
The wind was blowing the rain at a slant so much so that the windows in the Den , under the awning, were drenched so everything also under the awning got soaked including all my cushions and pillows....
We are now supposed to get some beautiful, cooler weather with low dew points for the rest of the week!!
Thank God!!
Today, I will be sharing how I decorated the top of the TV Entertainment Center and the area in front of it in a Pirate's Cove theme!!
This is the second year that I did this but I did change it around a bit this year....
Since my Seasonal Tree in the Living Room is done in an "Under the Sea" theme, I wanted to keep that Coastal/Nautical theme going....
Last year, I was inspired by a few movies that are dear to my heart...
"Hook"
I loved "The Goonies".....
And "Pirates of the Caribbean "......
I even made Pirate outfits for both my sons one Halloween!!
I decided to keep the evergreen garland that I hung here at Christmas last year up all year round and use it as a base to create seasonal garlands.....
You may remember that I bought these lamps to use on top of the TV Entertainment Center....
I wanted lamps that resembled the candles that I always used here but I needed more lighting since I painted the faux brick/stone paneled wall to look more like a brick one......
Last year, I used a white Tree but that Tree is still up in my Sitting Room as the upstairs is still decorated for Christmas so I am now that much ahead for this year's Christmas Season....
We will start on the left side....
I placed this white fish here that I previously used in the Beach under the Tree...
I made this sign last year......
I decorated the Tree with these ornaments that I made last year......
This is how it looks without the lights off....
I painted the sail boat aqua as it was royal blue when I first bought it at Big Lot's....
The boat is flanked by 2 aqua bottles filled with shells and sand.....
The right side.....
Another sign I made last year....
A piece of aqua colored coral that my dear friend Anne Marie gifted me last year.....
And this is how it looks without the lights....
And now we will look at the garland......
First, with out the lights....
I started to decorate it by adding an aqua and white berry garland that I have had for many years......
Then I added a gold wired net like ribbon to it.....
Next, I simply added some ornaments that were originally used on my Seasonal Tree....
I also hung large aqua colored ball ornaments on each end with 2 star fish that I embellished......
The fairy lights come on by timer.....
With the lights in the room out....
The screen saver on the TV comes on when I use the Roku....
My son Joey set it up for me on the 3 TV's that I use the Roku on....
The fish actually swim on this screen saver instead of the stationary ones that You Tube offers.....
I placed an Ocean sign in front of the TV....
On the floor in front of the Entertainment Center.........
The chest belonged to my former neighbor Elly....
On the side of it, I have an aqua mercury glass candle holder.....
I did have 2 but when Joey and I were hooking up the new TV a few months ago, the other fell and smashed into a million pieces....
Sigh....
2 vintage aqua mason jars filled with shells from Miami Beach that Elly picked when she lived down there in the Winters....
I also made this sign last year....
2 globe book ends are on each side of it....
With a pair of binoculars.....
A shell filled with shells , a Pirate's map rolled up and a bottle filled with shells and sand....
And I placed this anchor, that I made last year, in front of the chest....
And there you have it!!
My TV Entertainment Center decorated in a Pirate's Cove theme....
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I changed it up a bit this year....
In my next post, on MONDAY, I will be finishing up my Tour of the Living Room decorated in a Coastal/Nautical "Under the Sea" theme for Late Summer......
So I hope you will stop by to visit again on MONDAY!!!!
Enjoy your weekend!!!
Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

I am linking up to these parties:
THURSDAY
Please take some time to visit these terrific hosts and all those joining in on the fun!
A fun way to decorate that area and tie in with the under the sea theme. You had a bit more rain than us, 3.25 inches translates to about 82 mm and we had about 75 mm of rain from that system. Have a lovely weekend. I see you already had a fun time at the flea market you visited today.
ReplyDeleteLinda,
DeleteThanks again for stopping by!! We are supposed to have a nice cool week...I am looking forward to doing some work outside and not sweat to death doing it...I hope you have a great week!!

I really like the Pirate theme! The garland on your mantle is perfect. We really didn't get the rain, but we sure got the winds! I think my town was the only one with electricity and some cities to the east of us were out for 2-3 days. Bye Debby - don't come back!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you survived the aftermath of Debby and the water. Your pirate theme seems especially appropriate, all things considered!
ReplyDeleteI like your pirate theme, too. Very creative
ReplyDeleteDebby,
DeleteGlad that you enjoyed it...I did have fun creating those items last year and decorating with them this year....Have a great day!!
Hugs,
Deb
We had lots and lots of rain too and lost power for an hour or two on Saturday morning (though I swear by then the wind was gone and the sun was starting to shine). The pirate theme ties in so nicely with your Under the Sea theme!
ReplyDeleteYou did get some rain! Very glad it did not come inside! Love the cove! Thanks for sharing with us at SSPS, we sure appreciate it!
