And now for a few Personal Notes...
Last Sunday, on Father's Day, as a member of the Community Group at my Church, Saint Maria Goretti, we hosted what we call Sunday/Coffee/ Love Family Breakfast after the 9 am Mass...
I recently returned to the group after Joe's passing ......
The baked goods come from a local bakery, called Bakery Delite, as the owners are parishioners....
And they truly are a delite!!
Bagels......
Several different fillings of Kolachi.....
Coconut and cinnamon Danish......
Coffee, Tea, orange juice and water and of course, Father Alex's Expresso!!
The tables were set in blue and white tablecloths with Father's Day centerpieces....
We had a good turnout even though many like to take Dad our for Brunch on Father's Day....
Our next Sunday/Coffee/ Love Family Breakfast will be held in July with a week long celebration of the Feast Day of our Saint Maria Goretti!!
There will be a Novena, Prayer Services, Pizza, danish and even an Ice Cream Truck after the weekend Masses!!
Last Saturday, my dear friend Anne Marie visited....
We had a lovely afternoon together and Anne Marie was kind enough to gift me these Patriotic Goodies!!!!
4 Dinner plates....
A package of pretty Patriotic napkins....
And a stem of Patriotic pom poms!!
Thank you so much, Anne Marie!!!
Love it all!!
What do you do when the temps. are in the 90's, breaking temperature records and tropical dew points with oppressive humidity????
You stay in the house with shades and windows closed, with the air conditioning blasting and CRAFT!!!!
I decided to make more firecrackers and used Pringles cans this time...
I had cut up an old bunting that I used outside on the front porch that had faded....
I used parts of it to cover the cans .......
I trimmed them with red tinsel wired trim......
I saw similar ones on Pinterest made with "Snap, Crackle and Pop" written on 3 different cans and "Boom and Bang" on 2 different ones....
Well, I only had enough Scrabble letters to put "Snap" on one......
And "Boom" on the other!!!
I also found these pins in my stash.....
These were my late neighbor Elly's....
I have no idea if they are reproductions....
I pinned 2 of these to the bears under my Patriotic Tree in the Living Room....
I used the 3rd one elsewhere which I will share in my next post along with more crafts....
And this is another pin that I found.....
I pinned that one on this Patriotic Lady!!....
I decided to put my new firecrackers here on the platform.....
I put them on each side of the wagon.....
I think they look pretty good with the Bear's sweaters!!!
I also found a bag of scatter stars and used some of the white ones....
Today, I also want to share how I decorated the top of the TV Entertainment Center this year for the Summer Patriotic Holidays.....
I treat it as if it is a mantel......
This is what it looked like last year....
And now this year.......
After Christmas when I decided to hang a garland here for the first time...
I also decided to just leave it up and decorate it for the different Holidays and Seasons.....
I added a Dollar Tree red, silver and blue tinsel garland to it.....
And I borrowed a few ornaments that I usually used to decorate the Tree in the Living Room, that I shared in my last post....
I also used these red jingle bell ornaments that Joe bought on Clearance in Big Lot's after Christmas for 90% off....
And I did not use the 2 foot white tree that I usually decorate with red and blue ornaments this year...
Simple fact is that the upstairs is still decorated for Christmas and it is in the Sitting Room....
And at this point, the way I look at it , I am way ahead in my Christmas decorating for this coming Season!!
Let's start with the left side.....
Once again, I used my Patriotic Carolers that I bought many years ago in The Christmas Tree Shop.....
An Avon Martha Washington Fostoria cobalt blue goblet bought for 99 cents at Salvation Army many years ago............
As part of the Crafting I was doing during this heat wave, I printed out a few Patriotic Song Sheets that were free for the taking and made a border out of all things, Dollar Tree paper Patriotic Hot Dog holders that I cut and pasted onto to a piece of cardboard.....
The frames, I had....
I always use my Liberty Blue dishes at this time of year....
"The Benjamin Franklin
Federal Savings bank, established in 1925, commissioned the Enoch
Wedgwood Company to make special dinnerware to commemorate their 50 year
anniversary. The result was Liberty Blue, made exclusively for the bank between 1975 & 1976."
This is the mark on the dinner plate.....
A Bust of George Washington....
I decided to use a wreath stand and hung a Patriotic wreath that I made years ago on it in place of the Tree that I normally use here in the center.........
I printed out another Patriotic music sheet and placed it in the center of the wreath and added a string of lights to it!!
Also new this year is the use of a drum that I have had for many years and used only at Christmas.....
Why I had not thought of using it with my Patriotic decor sooner, is beyond me!!
On top of the drum, is an Avon Betsy Ross cologne decanter.......
The brass eagle was my former neighbor Elly's....
I simply tucked it in one of the ropes on the drum...
I am happy with this look for this year.....
The right side.....
And a Bust of Thomas Jefferson....
More Liberty Blue dishes....
Another framed sheet of Patriotic music....
In the back, is an Avon Fostoria cobalt blue George Washington goblet....
And there you have my Patriotic "Mantel" for this year....
In my next post on MONDAY, I will be sharing more of my Patriotic decorations in the Loving Room including another decorated Tree....
So I hope you will stop by to visit again on MONDAY!
Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

Very patriotic. Good for you to get back to the church group. It is good to keep busy. The humidity finally broke here with a brief thunder storm and rain this morning. Enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeleteI liked seeing photos of the baked goods, the gathering and your wonderful collection of holiday things. I hope your holiday is happy!
ReplyDeleteYour Father's Day breakfast looks very well attended. Fellowship is such an important part of belonging to a church. What lovely gifts from Anne Marie! She knew you would turn them into something special. I really love the campaign buttons on the bears. So adorable.
