I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

Garden Wreath Re-Do, A Wedding Anniversary and D Day

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Today, I will be sharing a Garden Wreath that I added a few more things to and a special Anniversary date.....

But first, I want to thank these 2 hosts for featuring my post, More Spring Blooms and a Surprise, from last week's parties....

Thanks to Kari, over at Me and My Captain, for featuring it from last week's Celebrate Your Story Link Party!!

Thanks so much, Kari!!

And I also want to Thank Barb, over at French Ethereal, for featuring it from last week's Share Your Style Link Party!!
Thanks so much, Barb!!

Please stop by and link up tp these wonderful parties!!

A few weeks ago, I shared my Fairy Garden Mantle on my faux Fire Place in my sitting room.....
Click HERE if you missed this post....

Last Summer, I decided to decorate my Sitting in a Garden theme......

I made this wreath for the door of the room......
In the early Spring, before my surgery, I decided to add a few more things to it......

More flowers, a butterfly, some garden tools and even a hat and lights!!
This is how it now looks.......
Let's start with the bow that is made with a ribbon bought at Dollar Tree......
I added this yellow butterfly that I bought after Christmas on clearance......
It is an ornament!!!!
I tucked a little straw hat that I had in my stash under the bow a bit, on top of a pair of garden gloves....
And added a mini garden rake.....
Hanging the the middle of the wreath is a trio of garden tools.....
And a bird's nest and eggs was added to the center of the wreath.....
I added more flowers including a bunch of bright pink ones......
Can you see the mini garden shovel??????
There are seed packets......
Little clay pots.......
A mini galvanized watering can.....
And galvanized pails......
I am sure you noticed the string of Dragon Fly lights on the wreath.....
The set was bought a few years back at Dollar Tree.....
The battery pack is tucked into the center of the wreath making it easy to turn them on......
And here it is lit up in the evening......
It is just a small set of 10 lights so they did not go around the entire wreath......
Here it is with the hall light on.....
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I re-did this Garden Wreath for the Summer......

Going from this.....
To this......
Soon I will be sharing more of the the Garden touches that I added to the Sitting Room for the Summer......

Today is the 75th Anniversary of D Day....A Day that will live in Infamy.......
I have been watching all the tributes on TV both in Normandy and here locally.....
May we never forget all the troops that stormed that Beach and those who lost their lives that day and those that survived and turned the tide in World War II....
A grateful Nation honors you!!

June 6th is also another special Anniversary.......

My parents were married in 1942 on June 6th, 2 years before D Day.....

Shortly after they were married, they moved to Spartansburg, S.C.where my Dad was in Boot Camp before being deployed overseas in World War II.......

He would be gone overseas for nearly 5 years.
My Mother lived with her parents until he returned.

My Dad was one of 5 Brothers who all served in World War II and fortunately, all 5 brothers made it home to their loved ones.....
Today would be my parent's 77th Wedding Anniversary!!!

They were both born in 1919 and would have turned 100 years old this year!!!

I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  2. Hello my friend! I've been away but slowly trying to make my way back. Your wreath is full of imagination and it's so cute! I enjoyed reading about your parents. Your father and his brothers were very brave and it's incredible that all five were able to return home. I hope you're doing well. I think of you every day. {You're on my prayer list.} Hugs, Sandi

  9. Enjoyed reading about your parents, Debbie! They were both very good looking. Little did they know just two short years later what would happen. My grandfather was on the beaches of Normandy and left three children and one on the way behind. Thankfully, like your father and his brothers, he came home...wounded but home. Hope you are recovering well. Love your wreath!

  11. Wonderful tribute you have posted here Debbie. Greatest generation. Such a nice wreath and would make a nice gift for a summer birthday gardener. The little tools would be great for potted plants.
Your Mom and Dad had a fine wedding it looks to be. You look more like your Dad I think. Handsome couple. I love the wedding bouquet and it's so loaded with flowers, gorgeous!
