I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

For the New Year, I am trying something different with my 3 times weekly posts....

On THURSDAYS, I will feature what I cooked and ate during the week, showcasing local cuisine and a few recipes for things that I actually made...

I decided that on SATURDAYS, I will showcase What I Have Been Up To in the past week, sharing events and places I went to, if any....

On MONDAYS, I will be featuring What I Have Bought or Been Gifted Recently, if anything...

Today is THURSDAY so it is time to share what I have cooked and when I have been eating....

I ordered these Italian Herb Grilled Chicken Breasts from Sam's Club....

There were 6 of them in this container and we had  4 of them for dinner the night before with mashed potatoes, gravy and corn...

The following night I made up some bow tie pasta and alfredo sauce....

I cut up the last 2 chicken breasts and added them, along with the juices that were in the container they came in, to the pasta and alfredo sauce mixture...

It was delicious....

Today, I want to share that I returned of my vintage Moss Rose china to the inside my Dining Room Hutch for the Summer months.....

Several years ago, I decided not to use the glass doors of this Hutch and it was one of the best thing that I did.....

The top of the Hutch is decorated in my Victorian style with a nod to my ancestors.....

I did it a bit differently this year....

I decided to display Victorian couples on each side....

 These are Home Interiors figurines......

A picture of my Paternal Grandparents, Agnes and Adam, on their wedding day is in the large frame....

They were immigrants from Poland, who had 8 children that became Birth Right citizens, with my Dad and 4 of his brothers going on to become part of the Greatest Generation, all serving in WWII!!

These are all pictures of Mother and my Maternal Grandparents.....

My Maternal Grandparents, Paul and Mary....

My Maternal Grandmother and Great Grandmother, who also immigrated here from Poland, on the left......

My Mother as a child and my Grandmother on the right.....

My Mother as a baby being held by her Mother.....

Another Victorian couple....

I collected Made in Japan vintage Moss Rose china for many years....

Buying it at yard sales, church flea markets and estate sales......

I also display my collection of Indiana Glass Colony Park Lane Clear Ruby Red Flash Vintage Glassware

I arranged the inside of the Hutch a bit differently this year also.....

 On the top shelf.....

 Middle Shelf

Milk glass goblets with white roses in them are on each side of this shelf....

The small tea cups and saucers are child's set.....

 The bottom shelf.....

The Dining Room furniture belonged to my late husband Joe's Maternal Grandmother whose name was Rose.....

She also was an immigrant from Poland, who came here at 18 years old as her father was working in the coal mines....

She never learned to speak English and passed away the year before we were married.....

On the side of the Hutch.....

On the window divider.....

My sister passed on this cupid planter to me a few months ago and I used florals from my stash for the arrangement.....

The butterfly was a gift from my son Jim and his family....

The Joy stone was a gift from my late friend Anne Marie....

I hope you enjoyed seeing my collection of vintage.Moss Rose China.....

The Hutch will stay this way until Halloween when I turn it into an apothecary cabinet.....

I hope you will stop by to visit again on SATURDAY for my next post.....

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

And try to find JOY in every single day!

  1. Great family pictures!! Don't you love seeing the way people dressed over the years -- so different than nowadays. My ancestors came from Germany -- my grandmother didn't speak English until she was about 12 years old. I know a few words -- not enough to carry on a conversation. The hutch is beautifully arranged -- such pretty pieces of china. The chicken looks very tasty -- I'll have to see if it's available at our store. Since I, too, live alone, it is so convenient to be able to buy already cooked food -- just heat and eat!! Enjoy your weekend.

  3. How wonderful to have lots of features of all the work you have done, Deb. I love that you have so many pictures of your family/heritage. My hubby's great grandparents came over from Poland and raised 11 children in MN. Grandad only had one child-a son--my hubby's father. The people that came from Poland were extremely hard workers and prospered because of it. Have a good weekend- xo Diana
