I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

On Tuesday evening, my son Joey and I finally got to see Rock Icon, Alice Cooper, at the Arena right by my home....

Joe, Joey and I had already bought our tickets to see him in concert in 2020 , only to have the concert cancelled by the Pandemic....

He did do another concert at our Arena 2 years later but we were not able to go so when I saw he was coming back to NEPA again, I jumped on the chance to finally see him in concert...

These are pictures posted by the Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza....

The concert started about 8:10 pm with him singing song after song after song until only a few minutes before the concert was over when he spoke to the crowd and introduced his amazing Band which included an appearance of his wife of almost 50 years, Sheryl!!

Alice Cooper is 77 years old and performed straight for 1 hour and 40 minutes!!!!

We are so happy that we went as it was an amazing concert with me reliving songs from my teen years!!!

Even though the concert was Tuesday evening, Alice Cooper was here in NEPA on Monday night and went to a local restaurant in Scranton to celebrate his wife Sheryl's Birthday along with his entire Band.....

This picture was posted in the Scranton Times Newspaper...

Again, it was a great evening and I am so glad we went as I know Joe was smiling down on us as I continue the tradition, that we first started in 1975, of going to concerts  ...

Since then, Joe and I attended over 70+ concerts and shows.....

And I hope to see more Icons in concert in the future....

Because......

Today, I am going to be sharing Part One of what I call my Bright and Cheery Patio.....

The reason why is that, unlike my front porch, which has a definite color theme of red, yellow and orange, there really is no color theme for the Patio off the back of my townhouse....

Today, I will be sharing this half of the Patio....

We bought the chairs and table 2 years ago and I originally set them up across from where they are now on the paver extension of the Patio that I put in myself...

Last year, realizing that these are metal and were out in the elements, I decided to move them under the awning so they will be somewhat protected....

 Over in the corner......

This year, I hung 2 beautiful wooden wind chimes, that I received as gifts, under the awning to protect them from the elements....

I hung this one that my niece Renae and great nieces Cortney, Cait and Carly gifted me last year when my husband Joe passed away.......

"A Limb has fallen from the Family Tree

I keep hearing a voice that says

"Grieve not for me"

Remember the Best times

The Laughter, the song

The Good Life

 I lived while

I was strong......."

Beneath the wind chime.....

I had these annuals left over from the full tray, that I bought for a mere $22.13, for the front yard...

I planted one red begonia in this pot.....

On the top 2 shelves of this plant stand, I transplanted some Hens and Chicks in these bright colored pots....

One impatien in the pot on the bottom of the shelf....

One marigold in the pot in the bike planter....

In the corner.....

I have had this hanging basket filled with faux greenery for several years.....

On a plant stand in the corner.....

I filled this pot with some of the faux flowers that I have been buying....

I recently bought something new at Ollies....

 A new deck storage box....

It was only $19.99.....

I bought one several years ago for $60 in Home Depot...

I decided to move the older one over to the other side of the Patio.....

I plan to store all my Patio decor in these 2 deck storage boxes over the Winter and free up some room in my storage room inside the house where I stored them last year so I can store the things from the front porch in their place in the storage room....

Another pot that I filled with faux flowers sit on top of it.....

The pink drum table will provide extra space to place a book or magazines on...

I bought the wreaths that I hung on the windows quite a few years ago at a church flea market....

I bought the light fixture in Ocean State Job Lot last year....

I see that I forgot to put battery operated candles in the lantern hung between the windows....

My Niece and great nieces gifted me this sign after Joe passed away last year...

Under the one chair is a vintage wire milk crate with a cushion on it that I use as a foot stool....

The seat cushions came from Ocean State Job Lot and the pillows are from Big Lot's....

The pillows are reversible.....

I look forward to spending a few mornings out here with my cup of Brew and my lap top...

Hopefully, it will be cool enough to do so and not as hot and humid as it was last year which kept me in my air conditioned house...

On the side by the back door.....

A citronella candle is in the glass base of an old solar light that no longer works....

Another pot with faux flowers on top of another plant stand....

I planted 2 coleus in this pot....

I have the black mat over the overlap of the 2 outdoor mats because last year, I kept tripping over it and almost broke my neck....

Maybe I will look for another outdoor rug to layer over that overlap.....

The paver extension that I laid quite a few years ago....

Last year, I decided to move this chair and table over here as they are resin and will hold up better in the elements than the metal table and 2 chairs....

The chair cushion was bought in J.C. Penney's and the pillows in Big Lot's....

On the right side of the chair is a plant stand bought in Ocean State Job Lot last year.....

More pots of faux flowers....

Same thing with the pots on the left side of the chair and table....

And this is where I will leave off for today.....

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I set up this half of my bright and cheery Patio for this year....

This is what the forecast for NEPA looks like for the next few days....

I hope to be able to decorate my Front Porch for the Memorial Day weekend but as you can see, that will depend on the rain....

If I am able to get that done, I will be sharing it on SATURDAY but the post may not be up til later in the day....

So I hope you will stop by to visit again on SATURDAY!!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

  3. I know Joe was there jamming with you! What fun to go see! Alice Cooper. Concerts are a great way to relive special moments. We saw James Taylor not too long ago and it was an excellent concert. Your porch and all your plants are just magical. It looks like something out of a fairy tale. A fairy tale cottage!

  4. It is so nice to see all your gardens in the sunlight since it has been gray and wet here for a few days. And did I mention chilly? I love the mix of colors and all the special touches. Your patio looks wonderful and I hope the weather this summer allows you to enjoy it often.

  6. Oh wow, it really does look so cheerful! Mine feels totally plain next to yours. I love how bright and colorful it is — I can imagine that even on a rough day, just sitting there with a cup of coffee would lift your spirits. Absolutely stunning!

  7. Hi, Debbie. I can't believe you are so far with your planting. We just had an entire week of cold and rain. The sun is shining today, and everything in the greenhouse has to be planted. The tomatoes are touching the roof! LOL. Your patio space must be a peaceful godsend to sit and relax a bit. Hope you have a friend over to enjoy it with you. Take life a bit easier and ENJOY it!, Sandi

  8. That bright aqua blue carpet really livens up the area and gives it a nice contrast. All of your plants look like they are thriving! What a beautiful spot to relax!
