I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

A Spooky Evening on the Front Porch .........

  Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

I know in my last post I said I would be sharing the rest of the Kitchen decorated for Fall and Halloween but there is the threat of frost this weekend so I wanted to take these photos of the front of our home in the evening before I have to rip out all the annuals that have been doing so well up to this point!!

But first, I want to Thank Maria Elena, over at Our Home Away from Home, for choosing my post, Early Fall/ Halloween Front Porch, from last week's Tuesday's at Our Home Party!!

Thanks so much, Maria Elena!!

I also want to Thank Linda, over at Life and Linda, for choosing the same post as one of her features from last week's Love Your Creativity Link Party!
 Thanks so much, Linda!!!

Please stop by and link up to these charming parties!!

Before I go any further, I want to share this event with you.....

At a Charity game on Monday evening, between Crestwood High School and Wyoming Valley West High School, all proceeds were donated to Candy’s Place, a Cancer Wellness Center, in honor of 2 members of the Wyoming Valley West Spartan family currently battling colon cancer and one member of the Crestwood High School Lady Comet's family who lost his battle with colon cancer in August.

That was my nephew John, whose daughter, Cortney , is the Goalie for Crestwood High School Girl's Soccer Team....
Shirts for the game were sold as a fund raiser and Joe and I bought our shirts which we wore to the game.....
At the Charity Game between Crestwood High School and Wyoming Valley West, the WVW Girl's Soccer team presented this to our Great Niece Cortney, who is the Goalie for Crestwood.....In memory of her Dad, my nephew John...

Our Great Niece Caitlin, Cort's sister, is holding the poster that was signed by all members of the opposing Team, WVW, which was my nephew John and his wife Renae's Alma Mater......
They may be foes on the field but off the field, many are friends with our great niece Cortney.....
We can not thank them enough for such a wonderful gesture......
Joe with our great nieces Caitlin and Carly......
On the field before the game.....
Cortney is on the left in the bright green shirt, # 29......

Unfortunately, Crestwood lost but it was a great time out with family, supporting a very important cause in honor of my nephew, John............
Please keep Renae and her daughters in your prayers as they are learning to live and cope with the loss of John....

This how our front porch looks in the day time......
It takes on a whole different look in the evening......
 Again in the day time......
In the evening.......
The light bulb that I have used in the porch light and also in the lantern out in the front yard is a Bell+Howell Flickering Flame Bulb......
Joe bought them at Bed, Bath and Beyond and no, I am not getting any compensation from Bell + Howell or Bed, Bath and Beyond!!
The Jack O Lantern on the milk can looks harmless during the day.....
But with a string of battery operated fairy lights that come on by timer in the evening.....
It does look a tad more frightening!!
During the day.....
Evening......
During the day, not so spooky......
A bit more haunting at night with a battery operated candle on a timer inside the Jack O Lantern.....
The corner of the porch.....
The Tree that is a permanent fixture on our front porch......
All lit up and another battery operated set of fairy lights, filling the stained glass lantern hanging from the hook on the post......
Since the air conditioner as taken out of the window, a Welcome Candle now lights up in the evening and that is also timer controlled.....

The front of the porch with the marigolds and begonias still blooming strong.....
With a string of orange lights woven through out the garland.......
I do not have lights in the small Jack O Lantern because water from the rain can get inside of it.....
Looking at the porch from the other side......
The topiary that I made a few years ago out of a tomato cage in the flower bed under the Living Room window......
All lit up with a string of orange lights......
Our front yard......
The lantern with one of those flickering light bulbs......
This is how the front of our house looks from the parking lot where we park our cars....
I hope you enjoyed seeing how the front of our home takes on a more spookier look in the evening all lit up!!!
Probably after this weekend, I will be planting a few mums in the front since I am sure that if we have frost, that will be the end of my annuals.....

After all, it is now October.....

A sure sign of Fall, was this flock of geese that were flying south this past weekend.....
And this Burning Bush in my neighbor's yard is getting redder by the day.....
Along with this Tree, also in my neighbor's yard, which is beginning to turn a beautiful shade of reddish orange.....
What I love most about Fall is the changing of the color of the leaves.....

Soon the mountains here will be ablaze with color.....

This is the view of the mountains that we have when we turn into the apartment complex that we have to drive through to get to our development of townhouses......
In the middle of the photo, you can see my townhouse development....

There used to be a tree line of huge evergreen trees here that blocked this view but they recently were removed because they were dying out.....
These photos were taken as you drive down the hill through the apartment complex which is where both of our sons live.....
You can see Interstate 81 past the top of the roof of the last row of apartments in this photo above.....
We have to drive down this hill and then drive up the hill to my development.....

I love having this view of the mountains here in Pa.

I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  2. I have a feeling you will have more trick or treaters than anyone in your neighborhood! Who wouldn't want a closer look!

  3. Amazing the difference in the day and night pictures. What fun to walk by that at night and have a look at it.
Praying for your nephew's family-even though I believe he is in a better place it is hard not to miss his earthly presence. xo Diana

  5. Well that was so worth the visit Debbie and I promised to pop by yesterday already. Your porch looks GORGEOUS, day and night. The perfect mix of autumn colors and a little scare factor just for fun. Pity the annuals have to come out. They really have put on a lovely show this season but I'm sure you'll be planting something special to take you into the cold Winter months. Your complex is really lovely too. It makes my heart sad when trees need to be cut down, but then again, just like everything else in life, there comes a time when the old needs to be replaced something new can take it's place. Please tell Renae and the girls, that even here in South Africa they are in someone's thoughts and prayers. John has left a beautiful legacy in his girls if their achievements and lovely smiles are anything to go by.

  6. LOVE the lights Debbie! I keep thinking about putting lights out on my fall porch but then I say no because it is still so hot here.

  8. Great night shots...I was amazed that you also have barely any color starting in PA....we saw one tree in weak orange on Sunday, my D-in-law, laughed and said, "It's just showing off!" what a year, glad you are making your own color!
