I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

This was my Table at the Harvest Tea.......
My theme was "Pumpkin Kisses and Harvest Wishes"!!
Click HERE if you missed it.......
The Harvest Tea benefits the Msgr. Phillip A. Gray Merit Awards, which are awarded annually to graduating Seniors in our Parish to assist them in furthering their education.....

As a Hostess, you are responsible for:

Choosing a Theme for your table

Inviting Guests to sit at your table who make a donation of $10 that goes toward the Scholarship Fund

Providing the food for your guests

Providing a favor for your guests

Donating a door prize to be chanced off the evening of the Tea

These are the Hostesses and the themes they picked for their tables for this year's Harvest Tea........
Some Hostesses do 2 tables and some hostesses work together on several tables......

There are also "General Public" tables where a committee of women get together and provide  for people who would like to attend the Tea but are not invited by a particular hostess....

The church provides our beautiful  Banquet Hall, Decorations and Coffee and Hot Water for Tea..........
These are the Door Prizes that Joe and I provided for this year.......
A set for 4 of Pfaltzgraffe Winterbury dishes with 4 place mats that is valued at $160.

Joe found the dishes on Clearance after Christmas in J.C. Penney's marked down to $35!!!!!!

And Joe always donates Hockey Tickets since we are Season Ticket Holders for the AHL Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins.......
And yes, the Tea is open to men too!!!!!

Joe loves going!!

These are a few photos of what our Banquet Hall looked like on the evening of the Tea before the guests arrived.........
Entertainment is also provided and this year it was a Pianist and Soloist who delighted us with several songs......

I mentioned that there are Door Prizes both provided by the Hostesses and also donated by various local Businesses.......

These are some photos of where the Door Prizes were displayed.......
The rugs were donated by a local Business, Giant Floor and Wall Covering!!
A separate drawing was held for those rugs and a few other items......
Including the items that Joe and I donated.......
Our good friends, who were also guests at my table, Carol and Barb, were selling tickets for these prizes........
They roped Joe into helping sell tickets for the other Door Prizes.......
Of course, Joe had to show our friends how to sell tickets the "Right" way......
And of course, they had to have a bit of FUN!!!!
This is Dorothy, who is the Chair Person of this event........
Dorothy is an 80+ year old Power House who still works part time and was mayor of the small town in which our Church is located until about year ago.......

She works endlessly raising money for our church and not many people can say NO to Dorothy!!

She simply does not allow it!!!

She truly is an Inspiration!!!

Next, I will be sharing some of the Hostess tables......

You can go as fancy as you want to as a hostess or as simple as you want to........

This year, there were 2 Sports themed Tables.........

The Theme of this one was "Lady Lion".......
Hostess Tiziana Mazzarella and Noreen Phillips
Their buffet table, which they served their food off, of was even a Penn State one!!
Living in Pa., we have many graduates, both male and female, of Penn State and they still remain avid fans of Penn State Football!!

Now this table's Theme was near and dear to Joe's heart!!!!!
"Go Steelers"!!!!
You can see their buffet table to the side.....
Hostesses Mary Ann Kosik and JoAnn Kosik
Joe is a huge Pittsburgh Fan whether it be Steelers, Pirates or Penguins.......

"Scarecrows and Mums"
Hostesses Sue Sopkie and Emillie Deiter
The scarecrows were lit up the evening of the Tea.....

"A Day at the Beach"
Hostesses Sharon Thole Haverlak and her daughter Bridget Shea Thole

Hostesses Anne Marie Durako and Cheryl Reginski do 3 Tables together every year.......

Always 2 tables with a Fall theme and one Christmas themed table.......

"Colorful Harvest".....
"Celebrate Christmas"....
And "Scents of Pumpkin Patch".......

"Sip-Sip-Hooray!"
Hostess Lorraine Rodeghiero

"Aloha"
Hostesses Bernadine Burnett and Jean Bohack

"Pinky"
Hostess Peggy Basta
On her buffet table.....

"Spring is in the Air"
Hostess Sue Shovlin

"Under the Sea Night"
Hostesses Rosemary Grebeck and Sandy McAndrew
Rosemary and Sandy go all out every year.......
They rent seat covers and tablecloths.......
Even print out a Menu for their guests......
I liked this idea so much that I also printed out a menu for my guests this year.......
That is Rosemary on the far left......

There are also what we call "General Public" tables which Dorothy, the Chair Person and members of a Committee for the event decorate and provide food and favors for guests who are not invited by a specific host but donate the $10 to attend the Tea.......

There were 4 "General Public" tables this year......

"Fall Favorites"
"Spring Fever"
"Rose's Garden"
"Trick or Treat"
This is a photo of all the Hostesses........
You can see that I am smack dab in the center........
Pretty much the same Hostesses participate in the Tea every year.......

Here are some photos of my Table and my guests which are my good friends!!

Patti, Mary and Anne Marie.......
These were taken by our good friend Barb........
 Patti and Mary......
Darlene over on the other side of the table......
That is my good friend Anne Marie sitting next to me.......
Me and Joe....
Me serving our friend Carol......
Betty, Carol and Darlene.......
The Harvest Tea is a fun filled evening .......

It is an event where I take the opportunity to show our good friends how special they are to me......

Next year, I will not be participating in the Harvest Tea as a Hostess because if all goes according to my plan, I will be having my Knee Replacement surgery done at this time next year.......

But God willing, I will be a Hostess again the following year......

In my next few posts, I will be sharing Joe's 3 day Trip with our oldest son, Joe, to Pittsburgh......

Joe had free tickets to a Pittsburgh Penguins Exhibition Game so they decided to do a bit of Sight Seeing........

Our son, Joe, was able to cross off going to the Living Dead Museum from his Bucket List!!
They went to the Monongahela Incline and Point State Park.......
 And the Fort Pitt Museum.......
 And the Pittsburgh Zoo!!
So I hope you will be back to visit again soon.......

And thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

If you do not have a blog, PLEASE  give me some way to reply to your comment, maybe by including your email in your comment.  If I can not find a way to reach you, I will reply on the post where you commented so please check back......
