I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

More Front Yard Landscaping, 2026

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Blogging has always been a stress reliever for me along with an avenue to share my passions which are my home and my garden.....

I feel it is a personal Journal that, hopefully, someday, my Twin Granddaughters will be able to look back on to learn about who I was....

I will be posting 3 times a week on MONDAYS, THURSDAYS and SATURDAYS....

As always, click on each picture if you would like to enlarge it....

 A NOTE ABOUT COMMENTS

I enjoy reading your comments and will return the favor by visiting and commenting on your blog or reply to you directly here if you do not have a blog but I do have my comment section set to Moderation due to spammers and hackers so your comment will not appear immediately...
And since I have a very busy life, like most of us do, it may take me awhile to return your comments but I promise I will....

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In my last post, I shared how I freshened up my flower bed under the Living Room window...

 With new rubber mulch....

I also lit up this star and attached it to the Amish Wagon Wheel....

And now for a few Personal Notes...

For the New Year, I am trying something different with my 3 times weekly posts....

On THURSDAYS, I will feature what I cooked and ate during the week, showcasing local cuisine and a few recipes for things that I actually made...

I decided that on SATURDAYS, I will showcase What I Have Been Up To in the past week, sharing events and places I went to, if any....

On MONDAYS, I will be featuring What I Have Bought or Been Gifted Recently, if anything...

Today being MONDAY, what have I been buying lately?

Basically only Mulch......

Somehow I lucked out and was able to get free delivery from Home Depot on 10 bags of brown rubber mulch....

Sam's Club rubber mulch, that I used in the back yard, is out of stock....

Home Depot's bags were smaller, at .8 cu. ft. where Sam's Club were 1.25 cu. ft. and they were $6 a bag...

I ordered 10 bags of mulch for the flower beds on top of the slope in front of my townhouse....

Again, they were a mess from the Winter and as I mentioned in previous posts, since my fall in late September, I did not get to clean up the leaves before Winter....

This is how bad the flower beds on top of the slope looked....

Weeds were already starting to grow as we had record breaking temps.last week........

Now this flower bed has not been mulched for over 2 years as it was last mulched in 2023 before my husband Joe passed away....

Before I go any further, I do want to share how my Forsythia looked when it was in full bloom.....

I will start at the left end.....

Again, I used the rubber mulch, hoping that I will get a few years out of it.....

It is definitely a lot cleaner and does not blow around on windy days and I do get a lot of wind being up on this hill.....

I moved the pot with the top of an old Christmas Tree I placed inside of it for the Winter over here to this end.....

I placed one of the fences, that I removed from the flower bed under the Living Room window, here at the edge of my yard.....

I will plant some annuals in this pot and remove the top of the Tree....

I bought 2 of these solar lights from Dollar Tree last week....

To elevate them, I pound a piece of rebar into the ground, place a PVC pipe over it and simply place the solar light, with the spike on, down into the pipe.....

You will see that I placed my garden flags closer to the sidewalk and my Political statement flags closer to my parking lot so everyone can see them....

I will be planting annuals in this pot but will be waiting until right before Memorial Day, as we can still get frost up until then here in NEPA....

I cleaned up the flower bed, sprayed the weeds with Ground Clear , which kills then right down to the roots, put the rubber mulch down and then put down a heavy coat of Preen.....

My late husband Joe bought these deer on clearance at 80% off in Wegman's after Christmas one year....

Funny that this popped up on my FB memory feed today from 8 years ago!!

I believe the doe was around $15.....

I will also be planting annuals in this vintage watering can, that I spray painted red a few years back.....

The owl was part of a set of 3 that was gifted to me by neighbor's....

This cardinal wind chime is hanging off of a mini flag pole.....

I will be painting the red cardinal.....

I elevated firefly solar lights in the same manner using a PVC pipe....

I trimmed the azaleas bushes as I wanted to do it before I put the mulch down....

That is ground cover sedum and a deer that was a gift from a neighbor.....

I took out the park bench, leveled the lamp post, put the park bench back in, leveling it and anchored the lamp post to the park bench using zip ties.....

I placed the legs of the park bench on rocks and bricks so it will not sink down into the ground.....

I will be planting annuals in these 2 pots....

I added bows to the lamp post and the lantern that match ones that I have on my front porch....

The plate full of rocks and water is for the Bees.....

A fairy, that was gifted to me by a friend, and the paver stone says" Angels Gather Here"....

I will trim the rhododendron after it blooms and after the birds leave the nest that they built inside of it....

On the right side of the park bench.....

I moved the red truck planter over here and you guessed it, it will be planted with annuals....

And a pot planted with hens and chicks.....

More mini flags....

And another firefly solar light.....

The statue was my late neighbor Elly's.....

That is primrose planted in front of the statue....

I trimmed these 2 azaleas, which are usually the first to bloom in a brilliant red.....

As I did last year, I placed a bird bath dish on top of my rusty cherub bird bath.....

Hopefully, the solar water fountain feature, that I bought from Amazon last year, still works as my next door neighbor's children really enjoyed it last year...

I took the bird bath dish in because we are supposed to get frost the next 2 mornings and I did not want any water inside of it to freeze and crack it...

Another elevated solar light and another deer, that was also a gift from a former neighbor....

Another pot with hens and chicks planted inside of it....

I placed another piece of fence on this end of the yard.......

I am hoping my investment in all the rubber mulch that I bought for both the front and the back yards will pay off and I will only need to refresh it a bit in for few years to come....

These 10 bags that I used for this flower bed cost me $60 plus tax with FREE delivery from Home Depot...

I am very happy with how it looks.....

And I will be back with future posts once the azaleas and rhododendron blooms and I plant the annuals in my pots...

I hope you will stop by to visit again on THURSDAY as I continue to share yet one more landscaping project in my front yard.....the SLOPE!!
