I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Blogging has always been a stress reliever for me along with an avenue to share my passions which are my home and my garden.....

I feel it is a personal Journal that, hopefully, someday, my Twin Granddaughters will be able to look back on to learn about who I was....

I will be posting 3 times a week on MONDAYS, THURSDAYS and SATURDAYS....

As always, click on each picture if you would like to enlarge it....

I enjoy reading your comments and will return the favor by visiting and commenting on your blog or reply to you directly here if you do not have a blog but I do have my comment section set to Moderation due to spammers and hackers so your comment will not appear immediately...
And since I have a very busy life, like most of us do, it may take me awhile to return your comments but I promise I will....

In my last post, I shared the final area of the Kitchen decorated for Winter/Heart Month...

And now for a few Personal Notes...

 Hello, February!!!

 1 month down....

2026....So far so good.....

For the New Year, I am trying something different with my 3 times weekly posts....

On THURSDAYS, I will feature what I cooked and ate during the week, showcasing local cuisine and a few recipes for things that I actually made...

I decided that on SATURDAYS, I will showcase What I Have Been Up To in the past week, sharing events and places I went to, if any....

On MONDAYS, I will be featuring What I Have Bought or Been Gifted Recently, if anything...

Since today is MONDAY,  I want to share what I recently bought.....

This is all I will say about these because I do not and will not tolerate any Political comments made on this Blog post and they will be deleted...

I had my son Joey order these from Amazon for me.....

One of them arrived already and this is where I displayed it....

You are entitled to your Political opinions and so I am, at least for now...

This is my own way of protesting this President and Administration...

 Moving on....

Valentine's Day was never a big deal with my late husband Joe and I as I usually had to work on that day.....

We celebrated it more as a family when my sons were young and now that I am a widow, even though I have said this for quite a few years now, I decorate more for Heart Month rather than Valentine's Day...

My Dad and most of his siblings all passed away from heart disease with my Dad dying suddenly from a massive heart attack at 67 years old, 39 years ago on February 26th, 1987.....

It is in honor of him that I keep my Valentine's decor up until the end of February and will be doing so again this year as Easter falls on April 5th.....

This year, I wanted to incorporate more Winter decor into the Living Room after Christmas...

 Why More Winter Decor???

Because this is what it looks like outside 1 week after the snow storm that dumped close to a foot of snow last Sunday....

We have had our coldest weather in some time last week....

We went down to 0 degrees......

And only hit a high of 11 degrees one day....

But a warm up into the high 20's, low 30's is coming this week so hopefully, some of this snow will melt.....

But there is a bit of snow predicted for next Friday.....

AND to top it all off,  PA's own PHIL just predicted 6 more weeks of Winter....

It was my 68th Birthday on Saturday but because of the extreme cold, all the snow and no where to put it and my son Jim's family including the twins fighting the sniffles since Christmas, we are postponing my family Birthday celebration until it warms up a bit .....

I do not want them taking the twins out in this extreme cold unless they absolutely had to....

Thank you to those that took the time out of their busy day to wish me a Happy Birthday...

I will tell you more about my day in my nest post on Thursday ...

Let's start at the front door....

I hung this sign from the valance rod....

To the right of the door when you walk in.....

I left the florals in this large vase as is after Christmas....

On top of the marble topped stand...

Heart boxes that I embellished...

I filled the candle holder 's bottom with red and gold ornaments as red, gold and a bit of white is the color theme for the Living Room decorated for Winter and Heart Month this year....

I also filled this apothecary jar, which was a gift from a friend, with red and gold ornaments, added a bow made from red velvet ribbon...

It is surrounded on the bottom by a ring of evergreen garland with red velvet roses....

Back to decorating more for Winter in the Living Room this year.....

I decided to keep out a few pieces to decorate the Living Room for Winter, mixing it with my Valentine's decor....

I kept out all the figures from this Sam's Club set except for the Tree which I packed away...

I kept out both of these pieces.....

This gold deer piece.....

And the white tree with a gold deer on it....

I kept out the small white trees, Angels, deer, the trio of white figurines and the small gold tinsel trees...

In addition, I left out gold and red bottle brush trees, red reindeer and gold churches that I displayed for Christmas on the Hutch.........

You will see how I used these pieces in this post and in my next post when I share the "Mantel"....

The Hutch is decorated for Winter this year....

On the side of the Hutch, I left this arrangement in the brass can after Christmas....

The shelf on the left side of the Hutch....

A gold bottle brush tree, a red and white poinsettia and one of the pieces from the Sam's Club Snowmen set...

I really am thrilled with the way the Hutch looks this Winter...

With the lighting on......

I hung gold and white snowflakes from the garland above the antique mantel mirror above the Hutch...

I left the gold glittered churches in place after Christmas along with the evergreen trees.....

Moved a white mica coated Angel here from the Dining Room and added a red deer....

In the center is one of the pieces from the Christmas Dining Room buffet....

There is an evergreen swag with red velvet and gold roses on it in the center of the top of the Hutch...

I left the red velvet bow and Red Cardinal Ornament in place...

Same on this side....

I have the tape uplights on in this picture...

The inside of the Hutch...

I always display my white and gold Angel Collection in this Hutch along with the beautiful mantel clock that holds my husband Joe's ashes....

The top shelf.....

2 of a set of 3 white figurines that my late friend Anne Marie gifted me were added....

Along with 2 of the choir girl candles that I bought at Christmas...

The middle shelf....

Added a red ceramic tree and placed it behind another mica coated Angel and the other white figurine...

Red rose ornaments were placed in the gold mercury glass candle holders...

The bottom shelf....

The snowman parents from the Sam's Club set...

A red and gold finial ornament is between the snowmen and a red cardinal snow globe, gifted to me by my sister, Barb, is in the center....

I left the red mercury glass votive candle holders out after Christmas too...

The candles in the Hutch are battery operated one with timers from Dollar Tree....

It really looks pretty all lit up in the evening....

On the right side of the Hutch.....

On the shelf....

The 4th snowman from the Sam's Club set...

Hanging from the knobs on the drawers of the Hutch....

Red and gold tassels and hearts....

The stairs....

On the left side....

Some of my Victorian Doll Collection which some day, I hope to pass on to my twin granddaughters...

I topped the lanterns off with a red velvet bow.....

And filled them with pin cones, red jingle bells and a Winter pick....

The candles are on a timer....

The ride side of the stairs.....

A Heart wreath that I made...

And a plaque that I also made....

This one is from Dollar Tree...

A red velvet wine bottle cover that I embellished...

I hung a set of bells from the railing...

And this is where I will leave off for today....

  1. Good morning, Debbie -- Brrr, you have had a very cold winter -- a balmy 81 where I live!! I totally agree with the signs you have -- the HOA regulations in my housing area don't allow signs such as that to be displayed. Celebrating Heart Month is so meaningful -- my late husband died of a massive heart attack at 67, and heart problems run in his family. Sorry your son and family have had the sniffles for so long -- certainly best that the twins stay in and all keep warm. Enjoy your birthday celebration when you can!! When my son and I were driving in a nearby town, we went by a church named St. Maria Goretti -- I'd not heard that saint's name until you mentioned your church -- the church near here is a beautiful building. Have a good day.
