I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

I had my appointment yesterday with my Gastroenterologist....

Based on the fact that I ran a low grade fever, had chills ,abdominal cramping and diarrhea at the start of this, he feels that the GI virus I had ( which is still going around) caused my IBS to flare up, causing "Infectious IBS"

Very often after contracting a wicked GI virus, it will aggravate IBS.

Since I am feeling better, he feels that testing stool for bacteria or a virus would be senseless at this point...

He did suggest I take my IBS medication, Bentyl, about twice a day to give my GI system a rest as this could take a month or 2 for the flare up to calm down...

IBS usually goes hand in hand with Hashsimoto's Thyroiditis, which is an auto immune disease like IBS....

I suffer from both of these conditions....

But if I continue to experience symptoms or they get worse, to make another appointment and then we will go from there...

So it seems all is good and my suspicions were right...

Today, I am going to be sharing how I decorated the Hutch in the Kitchen in a Late Summer/Early Fall theme using Apples and Sunflowers.....

I call this wall in the  focal point in my Kitchen because it honestly serves no other purpose but for decoration....

I am going to share my seasonal Kitchen Tree and the areas on the sides of the Hutch in my next post on SATURDAY...

This Hutch is an upcycled item for those of you who are new here....

I bought the upper shelf unit at a church yard sale for $5....

It was originally part of a bedroom set of furniture...

2 weeks later, I found the desk at a yard sale for $10 and it was already stripped down and ready to paint...

I painted both pieces in red and white to match my Kitchen colors and married them together to form this "Hutch" for my Kitchen.....

I sort of went with a baking theme for this wall area...

The top half of the Hutch.....

As you can see, I painted the back wall on the shelf unit red....

The pictures above the Hutch are from Home Interiors and I have had them for over 35+ years....

I bought the black clock at a yard sale because I love the look of it even though it does not work.....

A yellow pitcher, bought in Gabes a few years back, and a vintage yellow enamelware coffee pot are on each side of the black clock....

A vintage yellow Fiestaware plate and an apple clock that does work!!

A bow I made from a solid red and a green leaf ribbon.....

Vintage egg cups and a vintage yellow enamelware styled salt and pepper shaker set also grace the top of the Hutch.........

The top shelf....

A vintage cherry pie dish and a Dollar Tree Sunflower plate....

A red egg cup, a vintage Durkee Ground Ginger container and a wood rolling pin that was gifted to me by my late friend Anne Marie....

A wood Homemade Apple Pie sign, bought for 25 cents at a yard sale, hangs in the middle of the Hutch..

A vintage glass canister/cookie jar filled with vintage cookie cutters.....

A wood apple, an apple dish which is part of a 4 piece set of measuring cups, salt and pepper shakers and a green egg cup.....

The bottom shelf....

A Pfaltzgraff Winter Berry salt and pepper shakers, and a vintage pitcher that Anne Marie also gifted me....

More eggs cups and apple dishes and a chicken salt and pepper shaker set....

A vintage green mixing bowl filled with both vintage and new kitchen utensils and cookie cutters.....

A vintage glass Cinnamon Sugar container, baker's red and white twine, a copper candle holder, and a "Let's Eat" wood rolling pin bought for $1 at Dollar General!

The lower desk area of the Hutch....

As I mentioned previously, I will be sharing my Kitchen Tree in my next post....

Again, I went with the Apple and Sunflower theme....

On the left side, a crackle glass Sunflower hurricane candle holder that I placed a battery operated candle inside.....

The other 2 of the apple set of measuring cups .....

A Dollar Tree Sunflower sign that I embellished....

My vintage Hull Apple cookie jar and salt and pepper shaker set.....

A fabric covered book with apples on it placed under the Apple cookie jar along with a wood pie sign  and faux treats...

Some vintage yellow Fiestaware tea cups and saucers and an Apple Orchard sign bought for $1 in Dollar General....

A vintage milk glass lamp and an Apple Cider jar that I made....

I decoupaged a graphic that I printed out onto a glass jar which already had a red lid...

I used a Dollar Tree Sunflower place mat on top of a red and white striped one....

I painted the drawers of the desk red and bought the apple knobs from Lowes...

 Under the desk....

I hung a metal Sunflower sign, also bought at Dollar General for $1, from the drawer knob...

A vintage copper tray is the back drop....

On top of a vintage metal red plaid picnic basket....

I left out the copper colored ceramic tree bought in Dollar Tree for $5....

A copper lantern, a faux pie and a wood Apple all placed on top of a yellow Fiestaware platter....

A wood Apple pie Mason jar sign and a wood basket of Apples....

A galvanized can, bought at The Christmas Tree Shops, and a Sunflower pail with a wood Apple inside of it...

A cute sign my son Jim made for me a very long time ago and a Fresh Apple sign hangs from the knobs on the side drawers...

And there you have it!!

The Hutch, along with the entire Kitchen is decorated in this theme and will stay this way until the middle of September when I change it all out and decorate it for Falloween!!

I hope you will stop by to visit again on  SATURDAY when I will be sharing the rest of this wall and my Kitchen Seasonal Tree, finishing my tour of the Kitchen Decorated in Apples and Sunflowers for Late Summer/ Early Fall!!
