Changing Seasons and Crafting

 Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

I am now posting TWICE  a week !!!

I will be posting on MONDAY and FRIDAY!

As always, click on each picture if you would like to enlarge it....

Today, I will be sharing what I have been up to and a bit of crafting......

In my last post, I shared how I decorated the China Cupboard in the Den for Saint Patrick's Day.....

Click HERE if you missed that post!!

A few Personal Notes...

I made something new the other day....

I got the recipe on FB on a site that shares Recipe Videos....

Click HERE to see the FB site....

There is no way to print out the recipe from the video so here is a condensed version....

Spread olive oil in a baking dish

Layer with sliced potatoes

Sprinkle with salt, pepper and 1/2 tsp. of paprika

Mix around to coat the potatoes and bake at 370 for 20 minutes

Meanwhile, add olive oil to a fry pan and brown hamburg meat and onions

Season with pepper, salt and 1/2 tsp. of paprika

A small can of tomato sauce or paste

I added some chili powder and Italian Seasoning in too

When potatoes are done, spread meat mixture over potatoes and add a layer of shredded cheese, I used mozzarella

Bake again for 10 more minutes but I left mine in for 15 or until potatoes are tender

It was very good and Joe even ate it!!

We had the Grand Pups here over the weekend as my Son and DIL went to NYC to see a concert and some off Broadway shows...

I sleep with them on the sofa with 2 ottomans...

They do LOVE to sleep!!

I was busy doing something in one of the other rooms so they sat with Joe...

And on Joe!!

They are definitely lap dogs!!

They are so sweet!!

Truth be told, I woke up on Monday morning feeling like I was getting a good "Head Cold" as my Mother used to call it....

For the past week I have been coughing with nasal congestion and a headache.....

Been testing negative for Covid daily....

But just feeling pretty poorly.....

On Monday night, it started to Snow!!

It was starting to stick to the sidewalks at 11:30 pm....

By the morning, we had about 3 3/4 inches of snow....

In the morning.....

A pretty coating on the trees.....

Winter has FINALLY arrived here in NEPA!!!

More Snow is predicted for today and possibly on Monday too!!

Very typical for March here....

While Winter has made an appearance outside, Spring made an appearance inside....

I took down all of the Valentine's decorations, packed them away, hauled them up the attic and cleaned the Dining Room and Living Room.....

I did the change over of the drapes, curtains and linens from Winter to Spring/Summer....

I took down the Winter curtains and drapes.....

And hung the peach lace curtains and aqua drapes for Spring/Summer.....

The faux window..

I know I have shared this trick of the eye before but I thought I would mention it again....

My Living Room window is very small.....

You can see the width through the lace curtains....

The brackets for the drapes and curtains are extended about a foot on each side of the window....

The shade only covers the actual window...

I hang the curtains so mainly they are only hanging in front of the window itself so the entire window is not covered by any drapery....

The drapes are actually hanging in front of the wall and not the window.....

This makes the window look bigger and allows more light into the room.....

I learned this trick of the eye from my neighbor Elly....

I also had to unscrew one bracket for the shade, install wall anchors as it was pulling out of the dry wall and then screw it back into the wall, fixing it as the shade kept falling down....

I know my Dad was whispering in my ear "That a Girl"!

I also changed over the gold chenille table linens I use for Fall/Winter...

To ivory and peach lace ones....

And I changed over a few other things in the Living Room....

I packed away the gold cherubs from these shelves and mini curios.....

In true Victorian fashion, I replaced them with Victorian Ladies for Spring/Summer.....

You can see that I also decorated the Living Room for Easter.....

A few sneak peeks....

3 decorated Easter Trees in the Living Room....

What a difference just changing the colors of the drapes, curtains and linens make....

I do have some left over fabric from when I cut a drapery panel to make the valances and I am planning on making pillow covers in the aqua....

On Monday, I will start sharing how I decorated the Living Room for Easter....

I have also did a bit of crating....

You may remember that I bought these "Bunny Butts" at Dollar Tree......

I wanted to make ornaments out of them but I wanted them to be a bit more substantial looking....

Remember all those snow balls I bought on Clearance after Christmas in Big Lots????

I glued the "Bunny Butts" to the snow balls and cut out bunny ears from card board gluing white and pink felt to them and also gluing them to the snow balls......

I then glued pink ribbon on as a hanger....

Now I have bigger "Bunny Butt" ornaments......

I also bought these unfinished wood "Bunny Paw" ornaments at Dollar Tree....

I spray painted them white and instead of just painting the paw pads pink, I decided to cover them with pink felt for some texture and actually to use up more of my craft stash....

I then spread some modge podge on the pink pads and sprinkled pink glitter on top....

Instead of using the brown string as a hanger that they came with, I used a darning needle to thread pink ribbon through the hole at the top to use as a hanger....

I hung both the "Bunny Butts" and the "Bunny Paws" on the Tree.....

I will be sharing this Tree and the smaller 4 foot one in my next post on MONDAY!!!

I saw this post over on My Hopeful Home!!!

Kathleen took these burlap Carrot Gift Bags from Dollar Tree.....

And stuffed them, making these!!!

So adorable!!!

Not realizing that there was 2 carrot gift bags in the package, I told Joe to buy me 4.....

So I ended up with 8!!

I stuffed them with fiber fill.....

And decided to do 4 of them up in true Victorian style by adding ruffled lace and ribbon flowers and beads!!

Here is where I put them.....

I made these Bunnies from dish towels last year.....

I will be doing something different with the rest of the stuffed carrots as I will be using them in the Kitchen.....

Thanks so much for the inspiration, Kathleen!!!!

Today, I will start to decorate the Dining Room for Easter.....

I hope you all have a great weekend!!!

And I hope you will stop by to visit again on MONDAY when I will start to share Easter in the Living Room!!!

  1. I gave up on St Patrick's day and hope to get to Easter on Monday. It is (another) teacher day, so I am hoping my 8 and 10 year old grandsons will be willing to help me get the boxes out and decorate. Your house always looks so festive! I am going to look for those carrot bags, so cute! I want to stuff them, too.
We finally got our first snow of 2023 and after all kinds of forecasts ended up with 1 inch. There isn't even any on the sidewalks or driveway. My husband gassed up the snow blower at the end of October and hasn't used it yet. We are either above all the storms or below all the storms on the weather maps. A weird year!
    Your grandpups are just precious.

  3. I like food that cooks all in one pot. That snow looks pretty, but wet and heavy. Let's hope it vanishes quickly. Winter is still here in my part of Ontario, Canada. Your bunny butts are adorable. Your stuffed carrots turned out lovely. So nice to see spring inside your home. Have a lovely weekend.

  4. You DO have a lot of snow. This is always a schizophrenic season -- St. Pat's and Easter! Much like TG and Christmas. But I can see you are clearly ready for both!

  9. Debbie, those bunny butts are too cute! That was an excellent idea. Your recipe share looks & sounds mighty tasty too. I need to learn how to sew, I bought a sewing machine, and have yet to learn. I'd love to make bunnies from towels, yours are adorable. Thank you for sharing your inspiration with us!

  12. Lots of great changes indoors to get ready for spring! I can't say I was at all disappointed that the snow ended up passing us by since they were predicting up to 12" for us. Your bunny but and bunny paw crafts are so cute.
