I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

Just a reminder, I will be posting on Wednesdays and Sundays every week so be sure to check back on those days to see a new post......

However, today I am late with getting this post up.....

I will be sharing some new Fall and Halloween Buys and a few Crafts that I have enjoyed making....

But first, I want to Thank Bev, over at Eclectic Red Barn, for choosing my post, Apples with a Touch of Sunflowers in the Kitchen ,as one of her features from last week's Thursday Favorite Things Linky Party!!!!

Thanks again, Bev!!

And I also want to Thank Amber, over at Follow the Yellow Brick Home, for choosing my post, Apples with a Touch of Sunflowers in the Kitchen, as one of her features from last week's Thursday Favorite Things Linky Party!!!!

I am glad to hear that Amber is starting to feel a bit better after contracting Co Vid.....

  Thanks so much, Amber!!

Please stop by and link up to this charming party!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

Our son, Joey, treats us to Dinner every Friday......

This past Friday, we got a Cheese Steak Pizza from one of our favorite local places, Serpico's......

And on Saturday, I baked this pre-made "White" pizza in the oven....

In this area, it is known as "Old Forge" pizza.....

 SOOOOOO good!

Joey and I ate it as Joe does not like it so he made his own pizza....

Mr. Picky!!

In my last post, I shared how I decorated the Front Porch and Yard for Fall.......

Click HERE if you missed it.....

Well, I have already made changes to it!!

This is what the wreath on the front porch looked like in the post I just did....

I thought that the red truck in the center of the wreath had faded a bit too much from the elements so I decided to replace it with a new one bought at Dollar Tree......

After brightening up the sign with the use of a few markers, I replaced the old one with this new one....

 Much better.....

I also wanted to replace the impatiens on each side of the wheel barrow in the flower bed under the Living Room window as they were starting to look a bit water logged ......

Joe found these at a local store, Malacari's, which is where he bought almost all of my annuals for the Summer season.....

These were the perfect size and the perfect price.....

2 for $5.00!!!

 All 4 for only $10!

Pretty colors......

I transplanted the 2 in the above picture into the pots where the impatiens were planted....

And put the pot of white and yellow mums in the wheel barrow.......

Looks more like Fall, Don't you think????

I put the other pot in the flower bed in front of our house.....

Some of the impatiens that I took out of those pots still looked decent so I transplanted them into another pot and placed it on the side of the park bench......

Now I have a pot of impatiens on each side of the bench.....

As more of the annuals out front start to fade away, I will be replacing them with greenery that Joe will get from the woods around us which will stay in those pots through out the Winter....

This post is late because I have been so busy this weekend crafting up a storm and I wanted to be able to share all that I bought and made......

First up are some things that Joe bought at Bed, Bath and Beyond.....

Because of the blue in this, I may be putting this out in the Den.....

Love this sign and I am thinking in the Kitchen, maybe....

This bag of 8 pumpkins was $8......

Love the texture of the fabric of these pumpkins.....

They are small enough hat they cam be added to wreaths, arrangements, etc.....

Joe used a coupon...$10 off $30 for these purchases....

Did you know that Bed, Bath and Beyond coupons will always be honored and are viewed as not having an expiration date by the store even though one may be printed on it??????

Next up in another Dollar Tree Haul for Fall that Joe bought from a list that I gave him!!

With this haul, I was pretty much able to get everything that I had been looking for that I saw on the Dollar Tree web site.....

I am still working on embellishing these cute little pillows......

I had been waiting for our stores here to get these small orange checked pumpkins in.....

A metal sign.....

Another thing I had been searching for was these ornaments......

More sunflowers and pumpkins for crafting.....

And a few Scarecrows.....

I said I had been waiting to find these ornaments.....

I took the florals off the truck ornaments and glued them to the checked leaf ones, adding some sunflowers and pumpkins that I initially removed....

I will be using these in the Kitchen, maybe on a garland....

This is a wreath that I made for the Kitchen a few years ago.....

I decided to freshen it up using this sign.....

And these pumpkins.....

I added the sign to the center of the wreath....

And embellished it a bit more with the pumpkins, sunflowers and the remaining florals that I removed from the red truck ornaments.....

This all will go in the Kitchen along with these things that I made previously....

I was now looking for a few Halloween things from Dollar Tree.....

However, our Dollar Tree stores were awfully slow getting Seasonal Decor items in....

Joe was stalking the 2 Dollar Tree stores by our house for me and did find these things on my list.....

I loved these single stem black roses when I saw them online.....

They light up!!!!

Not only did I want them for Halloween in the Dining Room but also for the Powder Room where I have black roses and flowers normally!!

And I love these goblets.....

Last Friday, after watching a video on You Tube from one of my favorites, Jean E, I knew I had to leave this house and go shopping.....

Click HERE to see her video of her Fall Haul at Dollar Tree, Gabes and Dollar General.....

I am estimating that this woman in well into her 70's but she decorates her home with reckless abandon which I love!!

She is my hero in showing that age is just a number!!

So I ventured out of the house on Friday morning, sporting my mask and had a heck of a good time....

In Five Below, I found this for $5!!!

I had a bunch of ideas flowing through my brain on what to do with this but I did want it for one particular reason.....

Here it is all set up and looks cute especially for kids as it resembles candy corn.....

I had been inspired last year by a post I saw on Sarah's Blog, Sadie Seasongoods, but could not find any plastic pumpkins late in the Season last year when I first saw this....

She turned these....

Into these!!!

Lo and Behold, I had this kit that I must have bought at least 10 years ago!!

I liked this idea because I have this pottery like Jack O Lantern on the front porch....

The kit comes with a can of spray paint that resembles Rustoleum's primer......

I forgot to take pictures of how it looked after Step One was finished.....

Then you paint on a watered down version of the top coat and immediately wipe off with a paper towel creating the Rust effect......

And this is how it came out!!!

From this!!!

I could not be happier with the result!!

It is not finished yet as I added a bit of green on top and when I unpack my Fall decorations once I get them down from the attic, I want to wrap faux leaf garland and bittersweet berry garland around the topiary after I spray it with a clear sealant....

Here it is again in comparison to this one that I bought at Wegman's a few years back!!

Not bad if I do say so myself!!!

Even though there was a mountain of these topiaries piled up for sale, I sent Joe back down the next day to buy one more because I saw several women with at least 2 of these topiaries in their carts....

Good thing that I did because he bought the last one that was in the store.....

So once again, this is what it looks like.......

After measuring for an idea that I had, I decided to paint the top 2 pumpkins with orange spray paint, again having forgotten to take a picture of this first step.....

I used the orange spray paint from my stash as I wanted a more realistic look....

Then I did the top coat treatment using this from the Rust Kit.....

I then glued on some leaves, orange glittered ribbon and what I call floral fillers and this is what I did with the 2 smaller pumpkins from the topiary!!

And it fits perfectly in this urn that I have......

This will be used in my Living Room as part of my Autumn Elegance theme.....

So what did I do with the bottom pumpkin from the topiary???

After watching Jean E's You Tube video on what she bought and what she planned to do with the things she bought, I borrowed an idea from her!!!!

I was lucky enough to find these 2 Witch's Legs at Dollar Tree!!

I spray painted the large bottom pumpkin black and glued some styrofoam inside of it, tucked the legs into the styroform and added 2 large floral bushes that I already had and a few other fall florals and this is what I made!!!!

Not sure if I will use this in the Kitchen or Dining Room......

I may add a few more florals but I need larger bushes as this is pretty deep.....

This was my Halloween Haul from Dollar Tree the day I went out shopping!!

Yes, I hit Pay Dirt as I found almost everything that I was looking for!!

This sign will be used in the Powder Room.....

You already saw what I did with these.....

Loved this vintage looking Halloween sign.....

This tray was the first thing I grabbed when I walked in as it called to me!!

I am thinking of doing this.....

Love the border on it......

Grabbed 2 more rolls of this ribbon as I used it outside in the Summer and inside for Easter.....

Loved these blocks.....

And you can hang them if you are so inclined!!!

Again, I adore the vintage look of this sign!!

For the Kitchen for decoration.......

These are salad tongs but in Jean E's video, she mentioned also putting these in a pot so I am most likely going to add these to my Halloween Funeral Basket arrangement in the Dining Room.....

Love this deco mesh rope as it looks like burlap and can be used for any Season.....

I did buy more florals which I will show you why in a bit......

Loved these.....

I was thrilled that they finally got all the woods that I had been looking for in!!!!

Acorns.....

One can never have too many bones to scatter around........

And ornaments!!!!

Apples.....

Acorns......

Cats and Hats!!!

Why I was late in getting this post up was because I was still painting and embellishing these until 9:30 pm last evening!!!!!!

The apples will be put away for next year's Late Summer Kitchen decorations as I went with an Apple and Sunflower theme in the Kitchen this year....

Click HERE if you missed that post.....

I used red glitter on them.......

The acorns will be used on the Living Room Autumn Elegance Tree......

I used gold glitter on these......

The Hats and Cats will be used on my Dining Room Halloween Tree.....

I used sliver glitter and pink and purple half moons and stars from my stash when embellishing these.....

I used a drop of silver glitter glue for the eyes for the Cats.......

I may use half of these on my Kitchen Tree......

Along with these cute ghosts, also bought in Dollar Tree.....

The Kitchen Tree is more of a whimsical Halloween Tree where the Dining Room one is a bit on the spooky side.......

My neighbor Ed commissioned me to create 2 centerpieces for him for gifts for 2 friends of his.....

I went to Oliies because I saw that they have Fall florals for 89 cents and $1.99 a bush.....

Did they ever!!!

These were all 89 cents and they have 5-6 stems which is more then some of the bushes at Dollar Tree.....

I also bought this mini flag for $2.99 as Joe really liked it!!!!

And it looks great out in the front flower bed....

I grabbed this metal red truck sign because it had orchard written on it for my Kitchen to go with my Late Summer Apple theme for next year.....

Also $2.99

And spray paint for $2.99 as one can never have too much spray paint!!!!

I needed a container to use for the centerpieces and I found these in Dollar General......

These sweet Jack O Lantern jars were only $3.....

I bought a black cat one for myself!!

These fragrant smelling cinnamon brooms and skeletons were $1 each!!!

So I used these flowers......

And the cute jars to make these for Ed......

I added a scarecrow pick to each one...

And covered the inside of the jar with white paper to accentuate the Jack O Lantern face!!

Ed was thrilled with them and is sure his friends will love them!!!

I even made one for myself for the Kitchen!!

I did do one more Dollar Tree run to one of the other stores by us and bought these on Saturday.....

This is for the Dining Room......

I had been looking for this one for the Kitchen......

And I think I will be using this pretty chevron patterned ribbon to make a bow for my Kitchen Halloween Tree......

When I sent Joe back to Five Below, I also had him pick up one of these which I passed on when I was there but got home and thought about as I am a sucker for mercury glass items......

It will fit in well with silver mercury glass pumpkins that I use in the Dining Room......

And was only $5!!!

Okay, so that sums up what I bought and what I did with some of it.....

I was crafting all weekend as Joey usually comes over around 2pm to watch some TV shows that we tape and watch together....

I wanted to get all that done as today, I am starting to take down the "Under the Sea" decorations in the Living Room......

Since this week will be in the 8o's once again with higher humidity, I am not going to be able to take the air conditioner out of the Living Room window to clean it and change my curtains and drapes before I decorate the Living Room for Autumn......

So I may start in the Kitchen with my decorating until it gets cooler.....

If it ever does!!!!!

I will be posting again on Thursday as I will never get another post up by Wednesday after being a day late with this one......

I do hope you enjoyed seeing what I bought and I hope I may have inspired you to create some crafts like Jean E's video on You Tube inspired me!!!!

  6. Dear Debbie, I think you have hit the mother lode of goodies. You are really enjoying your retirement! I'm resisting buying anything new this year for Fall...because we have to reduce STUFF! Goodness, it will be fun to see what you do with all of it! Hugs, Sandi

  10. I so enjoyed seeing all of your projects. I bought several of the same small ornaments and made numerous garlands to sell, use at a raffle, and one for us. I alternated the little trucks, hay bales and gingham pumpkins on orange and white bakery twine for us. I also thought I was clever when I hot glued fall leaves together at top and bottom leaving a "tunnel" to thread my jute or twine through! This morning I made 8 tall votive candles with Michael's (clearance) mercury glass votives and 2 glass ones--some for the bazaar. Got a huge bag of wax chips at a yard sale and I want to use them up! Christmas is 100 days away--but our Nov. bazaar is a LOT closer!

    1. Kathy,
Sounds like you have been quite busy too...I might hang my Christmas evergreen garland above the counter bar now but intertwine fall leaves there is and some ornaments and this way, I will not have to hang it at Christmas which will make things easier...When is you bazaar?
      Stay safe, healthy and happy...
      hugs,
