Storage Ideas in the Craft Room

Today, I am continuing my tour of my newly cleaned and reorganized Craft Room....

But first, I want to Thank Beverly, over at How Sweet the Sound, for featuring my post, Anne Marie's Easter/Spring Home Tour, as the Most Clicked On post from last week's Anything Goes Pink Saturday Link Party!!!

Thanks so much, Beverly!!!

Please stop by and link up to this lovely party!!!

In a previous posts, I shared some projects I did in the Craft Room......

Click HERE if you missed that post.......

I also shared my vintage sewing display set up on top of Joe's Grandmother's antique Singer Sewing Machine....

And in my last post, I shared my Summer Fun Tree in the Craft Room.....

Click HERE if you missed it....

Not to be repetitive but in the beginning of the year, after finishing my huge photo reorganizing project, I went through and passed on a bunch of craft supplies to friends, which lead to me having to reorganize the rest of my remaining craft supplies....

Today, I am going to share how I did that and how and where I have everything stored......

It has been sometime since I did this and shared my Craft Room but since it is newly cleaned and spruced up , I thought this is the perfect time to do so.....

You may have noticed all the shelves in this room.....

The shelves on the walls were from when this room was my son Joey's room and I needed to create storage for his DVD's, books and electronics so I put up shelves ........

The 2 back bedrooms are only 8' x 10" where our bedroom is 16' by 20'!!!

Poor planning if you ask me....

I kept all the shelves up so that I could make use of them for my craft supplies....

And I also added a few shelf units too.....

Let's start on this side of the room......

On the side of this shelf unit is a vintage hamper that holds all the fabric that I have.....

On top of the hamper is a shelf that I bought at Salvation Army that holds jars filled with different items.....

When I sold Victorian style crafts, I used a lot of ribbon flowers so I have them organized by color......

They are stored in the containers marked with a color.....

I have used mostly clear containers with white, pink or green lids throughout the room, keeping with the color theme of the room.....

I also tried to keep with the same colors in boxes that I used.....

The shelves on this side of the window.....

The tubs labeled with chalkboard stickers, bought in Michael's, are self explanatory.....

All my craft paints are on this shelf.....

Below the shelf, I hung smaller wreaths and embroidery hoops on 2 extra shelf brackets.....

Several years ago, I had Joe attach this PVC pipe to a base, which I covered with contact paper, creating storage for wreaths.....

My Craft Table which is actually an old computer desk.....

I bought this shelf unit at Salvation Army for $5......

The vintage canister set holds markers , paint brushes and glue sticks.....

Glitter stored in salt and pepper shakers along with other supplies are stored in the chubby holes.....

Paint brushes, pens, scissors, rulers , etc, are stored on this side of the table.....

Desk supplies are stored in take out food containers and a desk drawer organizer that I glued to the key board drawer.....

Underneath the craft table is a tub full of supplies that I can just roll out as I had Joe attach a set of casters to a board that I covered with contact paper to place the tub on.....

More supplies stored where the computer tower would go.....

To the right of the craft table.....

More shelves......

On a small shelf unit in the corner........

Glues and various adhesives stored in an old drawer....

On the other shelves.....

All my burlap in a bin......

On each side of the antique Singer Sewing Machine are drawers on rollers.....

They hold more flowers organized by color.....

I actually have used the drawers of the sewing machine for storing sewing supplies.....

Fasteners, snaps, hooks and eyes

Elastics

 Zippers

 On the other side......

 Thread

Velcro and Seam Binding

 Sewing Machine Attachments and Needles

More flowers, lace and wired ribbons

On another shelf unit in the corner....

More tubs....

I positioned my sewing table, which is a kidney shaped vanity that my Dad built for my Mother, this way so I could see the TV and to create a bit more space.....

That is not garbage in that waste basket that I created......

That is where I store extra card board......

My Sewing Machine....

Scissors and other sewing supplies on the side....

These are containers from Herb Ox soup cubes that I use when I make soup!!

In another waste basket....

I bought this wood table, which was already painted this way, at a church flea market for $3...

I have stored patterns, pamplets and other things here....

In the closet, where all my dress clothes that I never wear are, on the top shelf, are a few more things.....

And on the floor of the closet is a tool that I bought years ago but have yet to use and I am determined to learn how to do so soon.....

And 2 tubs of Easter, Halloween, Valentine's Day crafts....

All the crafting supplies for Christmas are kept in the closet in the Sitting Room along with some Seasonal clothes , blankets, throws and curtains and drapes.........

And that is how I reorganized all my craft supplies.....

I had bought all the tubs and stickers used to label everything years ago.....

But after passing on 3 boxes of things to my friend Angela, I was able to make more room, empty a few tubs that I now use to store decorations and other things in and I now know what is in each tub and area and what I exactly have!!!!

This allowed me to check off one more thing on that 2-3 Year To Do Post Retirement List that I speak of so often!!!!

I hope I inspired you to maybe do some organizing in your craft area.....

In my next post, I will be finishing up my tour by sharing some of the "Pretties" in my Craft Room.....

  1. Oh no, I am not this tidy. Everything organized. I wish I was more so. I need a designated work area in one place and not in all places. I love you sewing machine cover.

  2. Great organized crafting space! I love how you kept the colors the same so that it is so cohesive. I really admire all the work you are doing. This is another project that I stop and start. I have labeled boxes but don't have a special place to put them so I spend most of my crafting time looking for supplies I know I have somewhere. This is still on my "do it one of these days" lists.

  3. I just love your old Singer and all the sewing things. Girl, I need a little of your organization! Clear bins always are good to use for sure. I need to take the time to do a little of this myself. You know I am eye balling that beautiful tree! LOL! Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  4. Hi, Debbie, You sure managed to have lots of small supplies organized in an orderly fashion. Not easy for us crafters, who want everything at our beck and call, and right on hand. And it is pretty too...lots of fun to be had in here!

  6. I could sit and look at all these pictures checking out all the details. I wish I had my grandmothers treadle machine, I sat many hours next to her going through 'her drawers, especially the button one. I need to find away to giveaway some of my craft supplies, way to much and some Im not interested in, I guess it was a phase.Thank you for sharing on OMHGWW, I will be sharing your post this week, I hope you will join us to share again!

  7. Great organizing! I organized mine a few months ago, and labeled everything in every container so I didn't have to tear apart ever bin to find some pipe cleaners or chalk! My Cricut made the labels look so neat, but yours look great with one word or two words on them. I know that took a lot of time. I now have to add more organization to my craft room, & you have given me great ideas! I love the hamper idea with your fabric! Thank you for linking up with Happiness is Homemade & You're the Star Blog Hop. I would love for you to link up with us on Traffic Jam Weekend on LifeasaLEOWife.com. You can submit any post, old or new. Again- the way you organized your craft room is inspiring me in my room!
