Nelson Crest at Easter, 2020

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Today, I will be sharing Nelson Crest, my Victorian Doll House, decorated for Easter.......

I am continuing with My Personal Notes in the beginning of each post because you have mentioned that you enjoy that I am trying to "Keep it all Real!" during these difficult times!

Now I know many of my female friends are freaking out with the closing of hair salons......

Joe has mentioned that Hair Color Dye Kits are a hot commodity at Wegman's......

Well, that is something that I am ever so glad that I do not have to worry about!!!

5 years ago, I made the decision to stop coloring my hair blonde.......

I went blonde many years ago after I realized that it would have cost me a small fortune to maintain my natural brown hair color and I did not want the "skunk" effect when my gray hair started to grow in....

My stylist had been coloring my hair blonde but blending it in with my gray and not totally covering all the gray, giving it a more natural look.......
So it only took about 2 hair cuts to get rid of all the blonde......
The above photos were from 5 years ago when I was 57 years old......

I am lucky that I inherited my Mother's silver gray color and not the yellow gray color!!!
Only a few months ago, I shared on face book how several Entertainers decided to "Go Natural" and embrace their age and their gray hair!!

Jane Fonda........
 And Sharon Osbourne........
I think they look great!!

My neighbor Lynn, who is in her mid 50's, also decided to "Go Natural" about a year ago......
This is a photo of the 2 of us last Summer when I was recovering from my Knee replacement Surgery......
We laughed that it wasn't the best picture of us as neither one of us had make up on!!

I am glad to have this picture because as last week, my neighbor, Lynn, took a transfer within the Va Hospital system and moved to Florida.......

She is a warm weather and beach lover......

I will miss her as we both loved to decorate our homes!

So I am glad that I do not have to worry about coloring my hair ......
I did get my hair cut on March 8th before all of this started and I usually get my hair cut every 4-5 weeks.......

I am lucky that I have a hair style that can transition into a longer version......

Now Joe on the other hand, refused to get his hair cut on March 8th.......

His pride and joy is that he still has hair at 65 years old!!!
He longs for his "glory days" when his hair was almost down to his shoulders!!!
This was my Senior Prom in 1975........
Check out Joe's Hair!!!!

LOL!!

I was 17 years old and Joe was almost 21 years old!!

He may just get his wish for hair down to his shoulders by the time this is all over!

Finally, we are starting to see signs of Spring here in NEPA........

This is my forsythia in our front yard.......
And this is my neighbor's on the end townhouse.......
They are just starting to bloom.......

After it took these pictures, I was thrilled to see that I also caught a glimpse of Spring in this photo.......
Do you see the Robin underneath the forsythia on the left side of the picture???????

We are still having temps. in the high 30's - low 40's in the mornings and high's in the low to mid 50's in the afternoons....typical for NEPA in April!

Joe has been able to buy a half a boneless ham and 2 rings of our favorite Kielbasi for Easter dinner along with a turkey breast that he already bought...

Now all I need is sausage for my Sausage filling and I will be set to have our Easter dinner with all our traditional foods.......

I am not distancing myself from my children as Joey is living here currently and Jim and Danielle live right up the road and the 5 of us will be together for Easter dinner......

It is Joe, Jim and Danielle who are out there working so everyone else can obtain the food and other things that they need during this time......
I pray for their safety and health all the time but I am a firm believer in "What is Meant to Be, Will Be" and if we are all meant to get through this, we will.......

When I chose POSITIVITY as my Theme for this Year, I never knew just how important Positivity would actually be........

Lately, I have been seeing some pretty crazy stuff out there on face book and some people, in my opinion, are really "going off the deep end" with ranting and raving posts......

I am choosing to simply ignore these posts on my Feed!

My Mother was a self proclaimed "Worry Wart".

I saw the mental anguish that she went through first hand because she ALWAYS looked at "the glass half empty" and not "half full"!

And I knew the toll it took on me, as a child, to have a Mother who would go "off the deep end" over the slightest thing!

I chose NEVER to be like her in this respect and I never let my sons see what it is like to have a Mother who is always fearful and worried about EVERYTHING!

I chose to be calm and cool for the sake of my family and I am choosing to remain that way now!
I really liked this saying and I am choosing to focus on beauty, laughter and positive happenings during this time on both my face book site and here on my Blog......

I REFUSE to let this frighten me and upset me!!

How are you choosing to handle yourself during this time?????

What Seeds will you chose to plant?????

I like to decorate Nelson Crest for Every Season and Holiday.......
And Nelson's Crest yard and front porch are ready for Spring and Easter!!!!!
The left side yard......
Shrubbery is blooming.....
And Bunnies are frolicking!!!
The balcony off the Master Bedroom......
Down in the yard.....
The front walkway.....
An Easter Egg Tree!!
The right side yard.....
I don't decorate the inside of the Nelson Crest for Easter.....
Just the outside......

I hope you enjoyed seeing Nelson Crest all decked out for Easter and Spring!!

In my next post, I will be sharing a bit more of the crafting that I have been doing for Easter!!
I made a few Easter Baskets from peat pots and used things that I had in my stash...
So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  1. You look great! My hair is going to be a mess. I've been contemplating letting it go natural, which at this point is a mix of brown and gray. The blonde - which used to be my natural color - is a pain to upkeep. I guess I'm being forced to test it out now. I love the picture of you two at the prom!! My sisters graduated around the same time and I remember them having very similar dresses! And the dollhouse is darling. I have one that is a wreck. I told my husband to dig it out and restore it...now that he has the time. We'll see about that...

  3. I let my sister in law dye my hair in October. went from gray to dr brown I tried to wash it out.. it was not permenent.but ater repeated washings it did not come out so I went to a salon and ended up with orange hair and my grand daughter called it pumpkin head............it took several trips to get it right and to really get it short.............no one will ever touch my gray again even if it suppose to make me look younger i love my gray

  4. Love the natural look you are wearing! I stopped coloring my hair many years ago and embraced my graying hairs.

  6. Everything is so adorable....the colors work so well with Nelson Crest. On the hair thing, I'm like you and had a haircut very early in March...and am getting quite shaggy---it still grows so fast. On the color----who knows what color it is, I've been 'blond' since 1967...well, now I have a lot of white highlights... We will see, because i used my 'extra' package of hair coloring at the beginning of March. I didn't think of hair coloring should be on the 'necessity' list. We are holding, and I'm hoping we have at least some color soon outside, our forsythia is just beginning to bud, and some daffys are getting ready. Stay well, and thanks for the fun post to read! 7. That is just too much and too cute that you decorate your doll house for Easter too!! I love it. I am very thankful that I haven't dyed my hair in years and that I too have a cut/style that I can let grow. My husband does not and I had to attempt to cut his hair recently; we settled on a nice and easy buzz cut.

  8. Loved seeing the Nelsoncrest decorated for the holiday, as usual! When my kids were little, I used to decorate mine as the kids enjoyed it. I am still a brunette as I am not ready for the awful salt and pepper color that mine is! I guess I'm not ready to admit being "old." I have always colored it and trimmed it myself so it is no big deal. Your peat pot baskets are adorable; I'm now sorry I gave all of mine to my daughter for her seedlings! In Maine, I have a handful of purple crocus in bloom and several fat daffodil buds. I'm so much further north than most of you! Happy Easter.
