Truth be told, I have been watching some "Shop with Me"
You Tube videos....
I was shocked when I found out about the new Dollar Tree pricing model....
But I can understand this as this is what a spokesperson from Dollar Tree had to say about the price increase.....
" The hikes in prices were the result of rising costs and tariffs "
Well, we all knew this was going to happen with those tariffs and the costs would be passed on to the consumers and not just at Dollar Tree....
What I did notice when I went to Dollar Tree, for the first time in quite some time about a week ago, is all the red dot stickers that were placed over the $1.25 prices....
I thought it was a pricing code....
You know....like those items with a red dot were now increased to $1.50...
So I did a google search and found this article explaining it all
NO!!!
It turns out that these are simply used to mark which items will now cost more but they do not tell you how much more..
So instead of these items being priced at $1.25, the red dot sticker covers that price on the item and indicates the price has increased for that item until each store gets around to marking the new prices...
Prices vary depending on the item and can be as much as $2.00 for these once $1.25 items at Dollar Tree
You can see a list of items whose prices have increased and what they will be in the future HERE!
I did notice in one of the Dollar Tree stores near me that the new prices were marked on the red dot but not in the other store by me...
Instead the other store has some of these signs up....
I guess we need to give them time to change the prices on the merchandise already in the stores...
Now stores like Dollar General, who are currently offering Dollar Deals, and Family Dollar may still be offering some items for $1 but I would not bet on that happening for much longer as they too will be affected by the tariffs and have to pass the cost onto to us the consumers....
So the days of an entire store having everything it carries for $1.00 or $1.25 ,where we could just blindly throw everything in our carts knowing it was all one price, are now behind us...
I could be angry and I am but more so, it honestly brings me more sadness as an Era has truly ended.....
And I know this is only the beginning with many stores either following suit or filing for bankruptcy and going out of business in this current economy...
I hope this will help you navigate shopping at Dollar Tree until they get all the new price stickers on items as I see they are making some head way with that in my stores....
Now, what did I buy in Dollar Tree for Falloween???
Well, I saw a few things that caught my eye on my favorite "Shop with Me" You Tuber , The Queen.....
Click HERE to see her video on Fall Dollar Tree Plus Merch....
In the beginning of August, I will be changing over my Kitchen to my Late Summer/ Early Fall Apples and Sunflower theme so when I saw that Dollar Tree had a few Apple items, I knew I had to check it out....
These are all $1.50
Yes, that apple is fabric and look at the beads on the string to hang it....
This was also $1.50 and is new.....
Now I saw this on a You Tube video but did not pay attention to the price...
These were $1.50 each....
I looked for them last year but could not find them so I was thrilled to find them this year....
You can see that they have a price sticker.....
These were still actually $1.25....
This will be hung on my front porch.....
This is go in my Living Room which I decorate for Fall......
These long pumpkin stems were only $5 and I am planning on putting them in the large tall vase by the front door...
I was thrilled to get the Fall Issue of Country Sampler magazine.....
I am so looking forward to Fall as this heat and humidity is killing me.....
The last thing I want to share today is an update on my Gnome Garden in my galvanized tub......
This is what it looked like when I first set it up.....
Afterward, I thought it looked a bit on the drab side.....
So I got out some craft paints and did a bit "dabbling"....
And this is where I will end for today......
I was battling sinus issues and a blocked ear in the beginning of the week and now, I apparently have some sort of a GI bug as I am running a low grade fever too....
GEEEZ!!!!!
Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

Inspire Me Tuesdays
Lou Lou Girl's Linky Party
Tuesdays with a Twist
Tuesday Turn About Link Party
I've been inspired by your fairy garden to revamp mine. The bottom of the metal container (like yours) has metal fatigue, so found a small one, sorted through my fairy/gnome items and will be filling it soon. We have Dollartree here in Canada, prices have gone up to $1.75. We used to get bread there at $2, as opposed to almost $4 in the grocery stores, but that has been phased out. We now buy it at Dollarama for $2.75, still cheaper than the grocery stores. Every penny counts in grocery shopping these days. I'm a sale shopper so always looking for a good deal and then buy in bulk. The awful humidity has gone up here, at least for awhile, so we are enjoying mid 20 Celsius days, which is about 77 F for you as you aren't metric. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteHi Deb..looks like you are about ready for Fall..hang in there, it will be here before we know it!
ReplyDeleteHope you are on the mend soon!
