I know I had mentioned in my last post that I would be continuing my tour of the Living Room decorated for Easter....

I will be doing that on Saturday as this turned out to be a busy week for me with appointments on Tuesday, Wednesday and today, Thursday...

I have finished the Living Room and have been working in the Dining Room...

I managed to pack away and haul up the attic all the Valentine's decor for the Dining Room, cleaned it and I am almost done decorating it for Easter....

I have not had time to take pictures of the remaining areas of the Living Room decorated for Easter...

So I am doing a post using pictures that I posted on my FB page...

If you would like to follow me on Face Book, please send me a friend request using the link on the right side bar....

I recently saw this meme on FB....

Ever since I saw these things done by my late neighbor Elly, I have hung my drapes and curtains this way , which has been for about 35 years...

I changed over all the Winter window treatments in the Living Room to my Spring/Summer ones a few weeks ago....

I changed the ivory lace curtains, on the Living Room, window to peach lace ones...

You can see that the rod is hung right under the ceiling, about a foot higher than the top of the actual window....

And that it extends out about a foot from each side of the small Living Room window...

The new shade that I put up last Fall only covers the window itself....

And I hung the lace curtains so they only cover the window, even though the rod extends out further on each side.....

You can see in this picture how small the actual window is....

I hung the aqua colored Spring/Summer drapes so that they only cover the walls on each side and do not block the window at all....

So that the entire window is only covered by the lace curtains and not the drapes, letting as much light in as possible....

These drapes and curtains actually do go down pretty close to the floor as I can do that in the warmer months as I will not be using the heater that is right under the window....

In the Fall/ Winter, I use shorter curtains and drapes because I do not want them touching and blocking the heater....

You can see them in this picture taken at Christmas as the heater starts right by that Santa, behind the table....

When I put the air conditioner in this window, I will pull back the lace curtains....

I have used this "Trick of the Eye" in my bedroom on the 2 windows in that room that are not the same size...

I extended the rods out in equal distance on each window so that in the room, both windows appear to be the same size....

Another "Trick of the Eye"

In a previous post, which was really quite popular, I shared how I stock up on food as part of my Financial Plan that I developed when I became a Widow...

When I posted it on FB, someone commented that she does not buy in bulk because it causes too much waste....

Still trying to figure out that comment, which sort of prompted this post.......

From the split chicken breasts that I bought in bulk but separated into individual meal packages

I made Cheese Chicken Alfredo Bake....

Before it went into the oven.....

When it came out of the oven....

It was delicious and my son Joey inhaled it...

I found the recipe on Pinterest...

"Cheese Chicken Alfredo Bake
Ingredients:
2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
8 oz penne pasta, cooked and drained
1 jar (15 oz) Alfredo sauce
1 cup ricotta cheese
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, mix the cooked chicken, cooked penne pasta, Alfredo sauce, ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese and the Parmesan cheese over the top.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
Let the dish rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley for a fresh touch."

I used 2 small jars of alfredo sauce, the whole package of mozzarella cheese in the mixture along with a can of mushroom slices and topped it with some cheddar cheese...

I also bought chicken breasts in bulk, separating them into individual meal portions.....

I made Shake N Bake Chicken with Knorr's Chicken Rice that I bought on sale for 10 for $10 and a can of corn, bought for 4 for $5

No Leftovers with this meal...

On Sunday, I went to a local place, Malacari's, before I went to 9 am Mass....

It is always very crowded because of their great prices and I discovered that there is usually no one there early on a Sunday morning as they open daily at 7 am...

I bought these packages of steaks for Joey as I am not a lover of steak...

I separated them into packs of 2 , a meal size for Joey...

I made up a package of these for Joey on Tuesday on my George Foreman Grill with Steak Seasoning on it, a cup of Minute Rice that I buy in a big box from Sam's Club and a can of Price Chopper beef gravy, 4 for $5.....

I had another meal out of that Alfredo Chicken Bake as I do not care for the steak and then froze the remainder of it....

No Leftovers...

I always buy their 5 pound log of ground beef....

And separate it into 1 pound packages, enough for 5 meals...

Yesterday, I used one of the packages of ground beef to make meatballs for dinner....

I used a small jar of sauce and a half a box of spaghetti pasta...

Again, no Leftovers....

I also bought a package of hamburgers to make this coming weekend....

I have enough in my freezer for meals for about 2 + months now because of my Food Stock Up Plan...

And I will leave you today with this.....

When I got out of my car after my hair cut the other day, I heard someone talking....

It was my neighbor's bird, who live across the Court from me!!!

He was definitely enjoying some of the unseasonable warm weather that we have been having lately with high's in the high 60, even hitting 70....

But that was just a fluke as for the next week, we will be returning to our normal temps of high's in the 50's for this time of year....

In my next post on SATURDAY, I promise I will be finishing up the tour of the Living Room decorated for Easter!

So I hope you will stop by to visit again on  SATURDAY!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  1. Debbie, happy first day of spring! I am like you and buy in bulk for my family from Costco. I do the same thing with the chopped beef and buy a large package and then divide it up into 4 packages. You save so much money buying in bulk and can have multiple meals. I like the chicken bake and thanks for sharing that recipe. I hope you enjoy the weekend.

  2. That chicken alfredo dish looks really delicious! I haven't used Shake and Bake in ages. I remember the ads-- "Shake and bake--and I helped!"

  3. Hi Debbie, looks like you have been busy stocking up, something I try to do. I wish we had decent prices on meat as you have found here. Our smaller mom and pop places no longer exist in our area. It's quite sad they were run out by bigger businesses many years ago. I am looking forward to reading your posts about financial planning, and ss. Take care my friend.

  4. Maybe she doesn't have a large freezer, not to mention enough containers, to put much extra into? Or she/her family hates leftovers, even if weeks later from the freezer? Maybe she doesn't get things made/frozen before it goes off? Maybe she's had a freezer full of food lost to power outages or freezer quitting? Or maybe...she simply doesn't want to, other things are more important to her.
I will say, it can be rather heart-stopping when you go to the store, fill the cart, and see the amount at checkout, until you add up the numbers, and consider how long it will be before you need to buy again.

Oh....that alfredo recipe sounds delicious. Sadly with DH's diet, it's a no-go. He's avoiding things like pasta, rice, potatoes, bread, sugar, fat...I'm glad I only cook one meal a day trying to figure out what to make! I saved the recipe anyway :-)

  5. My local IGA offers family packs of pork chops with an additional 20 cents off a pound. I always buy the family pack and put 2 in a ziplock, just enough for us. I often buy in bulk, especially meats. I even do 1/2 lb hamburger bags for spaghetti and casseroles to cut back on meat.
