I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

In my last post, I shared my Valentine's Tree in the Dining Room....

And the rest of the Dining Room decorated for Valentine's...

And now for a few Personal Notes...

Well, I finally caught the Cold that Joey had since last weekend....

But after 3 days, I actually feel much better where Joey is still suffering from it...

My new washer and dryer were delivered today....

Joey and I managed to get the Powder Room door off and my next door neighbor Mo came over to get the bifiold doors off  the closet, which houses the washer and dryer...

 The delivery guys were wonderful....

Very kind, courteous and professional when having to maneuver through my narrow hall way...

They even allowed me time to clean behind the old washer and dryer....

A very simple set as I do not want or need all the bells and whistles....

Joe kept records of all major purchases and the old ones were 17 years old!!

I definitely got my money's worth out of them.....

We had been waiting for the dryer to die for several years as lately it was not drying right and I was having to run clothes through it twice...

So when the washer died first, I decided to replace both!

So glad that I did as I am so pleased with how fast both are washing the clothes and drying the clothes which should be saving me some money!!

 And they are so quiet!

When both the old ones were on, it sounded like a tractor trailer running through my house!

You can see I have a lot of storage in this closet as I had my dad put shelves on all 3 sides and I added extender shelves too....

Winter is definitely not over here in NEPA as it already started snowing....

And we have another storm coming on Tuesday, Thursday and next weekend!

I finally got all of Christmas in the Living Room and downstairs now packed away...

I gave myself some grace after a particularly hard Christmas and just when I was getting back on track, my friend Ann Marie passed away....

And again, I am giving myself grace as I am usually my own worst critic...

I will be keeping these decorations up for the entire month of February and will start taking them down the first week of March...

I prefer to celebrate Heart month in honor of my Dad who passed away in February from a massive Heart Attack....

I will start this post at the front door.....

To the right side of the door when you walk in....

I left the florals from Christmas in the vase that Joe pulled out of our dumpster a few years ago.....

It amazes me the things my neighbors throw away...

The vintage marble topped stand that was a church flea market find....

The hurricane candle holder that Joe bought at Wegman's many years ago.....

Two heart boxes that I embellished and vintage Valentine Ephemera....

The apothecary jar that was gifted to me by a friend......

On the front door....

A Dollar Tree sign that I embellished....

 Joe's Grandmother's hutch....

On the side of the hutch....

I bought these brass sconces many years ago at a yard sale....

I decided to leave out a few things for Winter, like these gold bottle brush trees....

A Valentine's bottle and red velvet roses....

 The top of the hutch......

Again, I wanted to incorporate a bit of Winter in my Valentine's decorations....

I left out these white deer that I used in the Dining Room for Christmas...

Added a red rose ornament and I placed these on top of the gold mercury glass candle holders....

I bought them after Christmas.....

I placed candles inside of them.....

I also left out this piece with the white trees and gold deer on it from the Dining Room that I used for Christmas....

These is an evergreen swag with red velvet roses behind it....

And I hung the Love sign on top of the hutch....

Same on the other side....

I went with a red and white color theme inside the hutch.....

I also kept my white and gold angel collection on the hutch....

The top shelf.....

Red reindeer....

Middle shelf.....

I am leaving out this angel tree all year round....

 Bottom shelf.....

More red reindeer, the red cardinal snow globe and a red mercury glass tree....

The candle inside the hutch are from Dollar Tree.....

On the other side of the hutch....

 On the stairs.....

I left what I had inside the lanterns for Christmas as is.....

And switched out the bows for ones made from red velvet ribbon with roses embossed on it....

A heart vase with red velvet roses inside of it.....

On the other side of the stairs......

I made the heart wreath.....

And I made this one too....

Joe bought the 3 heart sign on clearance last year....

I embellished a red velvet wine bag from Dollar Tree......

And now I am going to skip over t0 the "mantel" as I did not get a chance to decorate the 4 foot Tree by the stairs yet.....

I treat the top of the TV Entertainment Center like a mantel......

 I

I did this real simple this year......

I left the garland up and just added red velvet bows on each end....

A heart garland....

Gold rose ornaments and a few winter red berry and pine cone picks.....

And another bow in the center...

My friend Anne Marie gifted me the 3 figurines that I used.....

I bought the Valentine's post card at The Christmas Tree Shop.....

Since I am getting this room done a bit late, I opted not to go with the gold tinsel Tree decorated with red and gold hearts in the center as in past years.....

Instead I just used a battery operated lit evergreen Tree in the center....

I flanked it with 2 red bottle brush trees that I left out after Christmas.....

I always thought that the design on these figurine's outfits resembled lips so that is why I use them for Valentine's....

Nice and simple this year....

Hopefully, I will get the Trees done in the Living Room so I can share them with you on MONDAY in my next post....

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

  1. So many treasures! I love all of your vintage touches! So glad you are feeling better and hoping that your son is on the mend soon! Have a good week, Deb!

  2. Love the new washer and dryer! I agree on simplicity. I had a heck of a time convincing my husband and the salesperson that I didn't need ANY special features. I want to wash clothes and dry clothes. That is it, lol. Sounds like the whole transaction was a great experience.

  3. I bet these rooms bring you such happiness. Do folks who visit just stand for minutes at a time looking from one thing to the next in order to take it all in? Just so many pretties!! Have decorated lots of place but never thought of the stairs. The banister, yes!! My favorite little pieces are the heart-shaped boxes on the marble table. They are so delicate and quaint. Great finds.

  4. P.S. Glad the washer and dryer arrived quickly and have already been put to good use. We have a fairly new dryer and washer and neither are very satisfactory.
