I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

 Food of the Week

On Friday night, which means NO Cooking as Joey treats us every Friday, it was Mission BBQ

Joe got a Pulled Pork sandwich....

Joey got a Pulled Chicken Sandwich with Fries....

I got the Pulled Chicken entree' which comes with corn bread...

A vat of Mac and Cheese was shared by Joey and I and what we did not eat went in the fridge...

 Sauces a plenty too!!

 ALL SO GOOD!!

August 12th was our 44th Wedding Anniversary....

And I say every year.....

It is a miracle that we have not gotten divorced or killed each other yet!!!

It is also 44 years since we moved into our townhouse as we bought it 6 months before we were married.....

Our first night spent in this house was our Wedding Night!!!

I thought I would give you a look of how it looked 44 years ago in 1978!!!

The front of our house.....

The original rail road tie and rock retaining wall in front of my row of townhouses.....

At Christmas time, a few years later.......

Easter in the late 80's when we still had a bit of a front yard....

No trees....looking down the road toward the Apartment complex where my sons now live.....

 Our Living Room in 1978.....

That sofa which as made by Flexsteel lasted almost 17 years....

Dining Room 1978

Those were the original chairs that went with Joe's Grandmother's Dining Room furniture....

Kitchen

1978

The appliances came with the house......

Before I had the counter bar built......

Powder Room 1978

Our Bedroom 1978

Shag carpeting that came with the house that we replaced throughout 2 years later....

Guest Room, later Joey's Bedroom, now Craft Room

Sitting Room, Jim's Bedroom, and now Sitting Room again

Enclosed Patio 1978

Back Yard 1978

My Dad mixing concrete for a patio block

  WOW!!

It has come a long away, BABY!!

LOL!

We don't really celebrate our Anniversary anymore....

Joe's 68th Birthday was on Wednesday, the 17th.....

And like I tell him every year.....

"You will always be older than me!"

LOL!

He worked at the Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins Toyoto Sportsplex that night....

Some of the employees that help out with the Diamond City Figure Skating Club bought several packs of cupcakes and had the entire Club sing Happy Birthday to him!!!

Joe is a Big Ham and loved it....

Me...

I would have been mortified and died a thousand deaths!!!!!

He also had the pleasure of working with both our Great Nieces that evening!!!

Caitlin worked with him in the concession stand....

And Cort is being trained on the Zamboni!!!

Cort also works at our Arena as part of the Ice Crew during the WB Scranton Penguins games....

So Joe had a great Birthday!!

We are celebrating it with our usual Pizza Party in the privacy of our own home with our kids and the Grand Pups today ( Sunday)....

And yes, I made Joe go and get a haircut for his Birthday!!

He is hanging on to his luscious locks, as my son Joey calls them, for dear life!!

LOL!

It is weird to think that now Joe is 1 year older than my Dad was when he passed away at 67 years old!!!

Joe always wins on a lottery ticket around his Birthday!

In 2019, he won $500 actually on his Birthday!

On Friday, August 19th , he won $1000 on a $3 Scratch Off he never played before and it was Number 000, the first one out of the book!!

 His Birthday was the 17th!

So he goes back to cash in the ticket and treats himself to a few more tickets....

And GUESS WHAT????

He wins again!!!!

The Win All symbol meant he won another $500!!!!

The funny thing is that when he does won, he does usually win $1000 and within a week, he wins an additional $500!!

Why it always happens this way is beyond us...

One year, he did win $1000 one day and then $500 the next but never on the same day!!!

Now you do know he is only getting his money back but at least he is getting is money back....

I wonder if his luck will change when they close Valley Mart in September and tear it down to build the new Sheetz!

As always, we share the wealth...

All 3 of our kids always get something along with our Church and the rest will go toward taxes and our Emergency Fund and Christmas fund....

Wanted to share this hanging basket in the Patio.....

I planted only 2 wave petunias in this pot....

The impatiens underneath it are also doing well!!

And there are only 2 coleus planted in this pot by the shed in the back yard....

These sunset pictures were taken from our front porch, taken over 15 minutes....

By September, the Sun will not make it around to the front of our house and my sunset views from the front porch will cease until the Spring....

On Saturday, my dear friend Anne Marie came to visit!!

We have had to postpone this visit a few times....

One because we all came down with Co Vid and the second time was because I was Pup Sitting....

It was so good to see her and catch up a bit!!

I will be posting more about our visit and the wonderful gifts she brought me and where I put them in my next post on Wednesday....

Does she know what I like or what?????

Previously, in the first installment of this Series, "What's in Your Hutch/Curio?"......

I shared what is inside the Dining Room Hutch.....

  Showcasing my Moss Rose Collection.....

Click HERE if you missed that post.....

Next, I shared how I cleaned and styled the larger Curio in the Dining Room.....

In the 3rd Installment, I shared the smaller Curio in the Dining Room....

About 2 weeks ago, I gave the Curio in my Living Room a good cleaning.....

I took everything out of it, washed it all up with my cleaning mixture of ammonia and water, cleaned the inside of the Curio and the glass and mirrors, polished the outside and then put everything back in, rearranging a few things on the different shelves.......

I bought this Curio about 30 years ago....

I display some of my Angel Collection and my vintage Hofbauer Brydes Crystal Collection inside of it...

The top half of the Curio.....

Top shelf in the top half....

A set of Angels which originally sold for only $12 in Sam's Club

Brydes Crystal large vase, bell and sugar and creamer set  which gifted to me for my Wedding Shower and that started the whole Collection.....

In front, is a single stem peach Capodimonte Rose bought when we vacationed at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, Va.

Middle Shelf.....

Another set of Angels from Sam's Club....

 A Brydes crystal flower basket....

2 small pieces of Byrdes crystal and a crystal collie dog with pups honoring our sweet Savanna...

Bottom shelf in the top half of the Curio....

Another set of Angels from Sam's Club

2 vintage Fostoria Navarre Clear Ice Tea glasses

 A Byrdes Crystal large bell

And a small crystal Bell that was gifted to us by my Mother on our 15th wedding Anniversary which is engraved on the Bell....

There are 2 shelves in the bottom half of the Curio.....

I split up yet another set of Angels between the 2 shelves....

Crystal bell with an engraved flower on it , and 2 covered Byrdes candy dishes and 2 more Fostoria glasses....

Bottom shelf.....

2 more fostoria glasses and a Byrdes crystal candy dish.....

The only time I change this curio up a bit is at Christmas when I add some florals, greenery and ornaments to it....

I was also going to share what is inside my Hutch in the Living Room today but I will save that for another post.....

I hope you will stop by to visit again on Wednesday when I will be continuing this Series and will be sharing the Curio in the upstairs Sitting Room...

  2. Happy Anniversary and Happy Birthday to Joe. I love your wedding pictures, thank you for sharing! Everyone looks so young and the photo with your parents is just precious. We celebrate 46 this September and we say the motto of our marriage has been one step forward, two steps back :) - whenever we thought we were getting ahead, pow, something would happen. And we say the reason we stayed married is that we had five kids in seven years and neither one of us wanted to raise that mob on our own, lol. At this point, I think I will keep him.

I love the photos of your townhouse, too. It was decorated for the era! Both our moms had the harvest gold stove and frig so we went wild and bought avocado. Unfortunately we bought them one at a time and none of the shades were the same. Drove me nuts. Did I learn, no. We started replacing them with cream. Finally I went white and recently we have moved to black. I am not into the stainless. So neat how your yard has changed so much, too.

  4. Happy Anniversary and Happy Birthday to Joe! I have been married 40 years and we have lived in our home for 32 years. We previously had a house we lived in for several years before moving. We are a rare bunch. I don't know many people who have lived in the same place that long! (-: Or stay married that long. My grandparents were married for 62 years. I always admired them. I remember thinking how old they were. LOL Now I think that isn't that old! (-:

  5. Love seeing your wedding pictures!
Happy Anniversary to you both. My husband and I don’t do anything more than say,
“ oh, happy anniversary “, so I understand about not celebrating.
    And happy birthday Joe.☺️
Would love to know your lottery winning trick.
Looking forward to Wednesday and what you have been up to.
    Blessings to you 💜

  11. I loved this sweet look back at what the townhouse used to look like! Your wedding photos are fabulous too. I once won $100 on a scratch ticket I was given at Christmas but that's it. It sounds like Joe has really good luck near his birthday!
