I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

Crafting, A Farmer's Market, New Buys and An Amazing Sunset!!

 Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Just a reminder, I will be posting on Wednesdays and Sundays every week so be sure to check back on those days to see a new post......

As always, click on each picture if you would like to enlarge it....

Today, I am going to be sharing some crafts that I have been working on, some new Buys, an amazing Farmer's Market and an equally amazing Sunset!!

In my last post, I shared another installment in my Series of "What's in Your Hutch/ Curio?

This is the corner curio in the Sitting Room....

I also shared what I gifted my friend Anne Marie for her Birthday, making the 2 Potion Bottles for her....

Click HERE if you missed this post!!

This whole post is basically Personal Notes!!

 Food of the Week

Friday night means our son Joey treats and it was Buffalo Wild Wings right up at the top of our hill by our house!!

Joe and Joey both got the All American Burger...

Of course , Joey's had to be with nothing else on it!

He also got potato wedges and an order of Naked Chicken Strips with Garlic Parm dipping sauce....

I did not eat anything all day long as this was my calorie ( and more) allotment for the day......

Tater tots ( gave half to Joey) and a Cheese Curd Burger with bacon for me......

I also gave Joey all the cheese curds on the side and could barely finish this monster of a burger....

  All so good!!

2 weeks ago, we bought 2 boxes of tomatoes for our niece Renae to can...

They were a mere $10 a box from the Amish Farmer that sets up every Friday at the convenience store/gas station right down the road from us...

Renae gifted us some of the unfinished product!!

 Don't these look nice?

Joe uses them when he makes chili.....

Joe also bought more zucchini for me to make zucchini bread as I gifted most of what I made to friends, family and neighbors....

Also some tomatoes for sandwiches...

While he was there, I had him take a few pictures to show you the amazing set up that The Amish Farmer has......

Do you see that sign in the back on the right?

Yes, He even has fresh Chicken and eggs!!

And he will have several different kinds of home made cheese, including bacon cheese, when the weather gets a bit cooler....

Baked goods...

There are Jams and Jellies at the end of the table......

Whoopie pies.....

And now he even has pumpkins and will also be getting the most unique Fall gourdes in soon

He does a fantastic business every Friday....

All week long, I have been crafting....

This is a good time for me to do so as I do not have much to do now as far as decorating the house until after Labor Day...

So I am trying to go through and make things that I have put off for quite some time and take up a lot of room in the Craft Room and Sitting Room closets....

The first thing I wanted to finish was a clay pot lighthouse that I promised my Niece Renae I would make for her 3 years ago when I made one for myself.....

So all week long, I painted, decorated, glued and applied a sealer to it....

I glued a solar lantern that I bought in Dollar General to the top....

I then glued sea shells, that I got from my neighbor Elly, around the 2 smaller pots....

I glued clear gem stones over the windows to mimic glass....

I also glued river rocks to the base...

She can tie a ribbon bow for different Holidays and Seasons to the handle if she wants or just fold it down....

With the solar light lit up....

I kept it in 2 pieces as it is heavy and it makes it easier to handle...

I sprayed it with a matte sealer....

The saucer on top of the bottom part helps elevate the second pot enough so it does not cover the windows and door I painted on  it...

Now it was ready to take to Renae....

She loved it and is deciding where she is going to display it....

This is the one I made 3 years ago ......

It has been on the front porch in all kinds of Winter since then....

That was a big project that I now can say I finished!!!!

I also did some Fall crafting....

I made this wreath using deco mesh from 2 large bows that I had taken apart.....

I used up some ribbon that I had in my stash also for the wreath....

I had this burlap covered leaf from Dollar Tree that I had used for something else and had taken it apart as it saw it's last day last year....

I wired it to the back of the Dollar Tree wreath frame as a background to glue a Fall card in the center of ....

I also added some orange deco mesh rope that I wove through the wreath....

Next up is a pumpkin and this was my inspiration picture that I found on Pinterest...

And this is my version of it....

I had white ruffles with a black trim in my stash that I glued to the pumpkin.....

I topped it with some left over ribbon that I had...

I also trimmed it with some black spider trim....

I plan on using it in the Powder Room....

Again, using up things in my stash!!

Joe had bought these things at Dollar Tree for me as I browse their web site and if there is anything I see that I want, I send him on the hunt for it...

I love these....

And I also liked this...

Of course, I had to "dabble" a bit.....

I trimmed it with some orange eco mesh rope....

I also added some flowers...

I embellished the envelopes too!!

I trimmed them with the orange deco mesh rope....

And used some ribbon flowers and a Dollar Tree leaf form a pack of 20 of them...

I will be hanging these on my Autumn Tree in the Living Room...

I also did some Christmas Crafting and hope to do more of that....

Even though I did share what I made on Face Book, I will not be sharing it until September 25, Rudolph Day, on my Christmas Blog, A Debbie-Dabble Christmas....

I simply did not have any time to do it this month especially after I had just did a post the day before.....

More New Buys...

Joe picked up these 2 items on Clearance in Big Lot's.....

He bought them the same day and used a $5 off $15 coupon....

This metal Patriotic porch sign was 75% off so that took it down to $5....

And the rug was marked down to $2.25!!

When you figure in the porch sign was $5, you could look at it that it was basically free with the coupon!!

I will be displaying the porch sign for Labor Day this coming weekend!!

We are still watching the Bunny for my neighbors that I mentioned in previous posts...

This bunny is eating better than most people as I am feeding him lettuce and kibble....

My neighbor next door is giving him carrots, apples and red cabbage....

And the neighbor behind us is feeding him parsley and also some lettuce....

My neighbor Khalid and his family will come back to a 30 pound Bunny!!

LOL!!

I crawled under this Tree along the fence at least 10 times til I gained his trust and had him eating lettuce out of my hand and he allowed me to pet him before I was able to grab him and pick him up!!

Not bad for a 64 year old Senior Citizen who has a knee replacement and bad back.....

Joe and I got a kick out of Joey telling us that his Boss was impressed that 2 Senior citizens, like Joe and I, chased this sweet bunny around yards and under trees for over 2 hours until we caught him!!!

LOL!

My impatiens out front are looking good....

And my coleus in the front are growing like crazy!!

Remember that this is what it looked like when I first planted them!!

I think I will be using more coleus next year.....

And I will leave you today with this amazing Sunset from my front porch.....

Soon the Sun will not make it around to the front of our house in the evening and when that happens, we will not see the Sun in the front of our house until next April.......

Fall is on the way and I can not wait!!

I hope you will stop by to visit again on Wednesday!!!!!

  3. Finally something I bought at our Big Lots. I have the porch sign, too! I did pay more for mine! I actually painted over the stripes to give it a peachy pink border to match the decor on my porch. That lighthouse is just gorgeous!

  4. You're right on top of things, getting a lot of autumn crafting done. Three cheers -- I'm not nearly so far ahead! And that looks like a fabulous farmer's market. Don't you just love them?

  5. It's alway so much fun to see what you're up to each week, Deb! I love that you've already started crafting for the season and that you have such a cool farmers market too. I would be there all the time if we had one that close. I haven't been in our Big Lots in years but you've inspired me to pop back in and see if I can't find some goodies too. Hope you have the best day, CoCo

  6. Deb, what a fantastic farmers market! So many things to comment on here, but once I got to that fabulous series of sunset photos, everything else disappeared from my mind! Those are really excellent. I am so "over" summer and can't wait for autumn.

  8. The thing that impressed me most about the farmer's market was the COLOR! I really liked the lighthouse (I live in Maine!) and the solar light at the top is such an awesome idea! My crafting time disappeared this week; my fridge died and my hoarding paths are too narrow for the new one to come in so I am boxing stuff up to move! Finding treasures I forgot I owned--which is a good thing! If I came to your house, you would find me standing in front of your curio cabinet/china cupboards, just staring at your treasures!

    1. Kathy,
Thanks so much for stopping by and for your kind words!! It is an amazing Farmer's Market! So sorry about your fridge...Ours died in the middle of the pandemic and we took the only one that Lowes had that would fit instead of waiting for 3 months!! Hope you had a great Labor Day weekend!!
      Hugs,
      Deb

  10. Debbie, I have to tell you this was such a treasure for me to read. Your photos and crafts are stunning. The farmers market sounds fantastic. I couldn't help noticing in one of your photos there was a sign referencing Pennsylvania. Are you from PA too? I'm in Western Pa about 40 mins from Pittsburgh.

  11. I wish I lived near your Amish farmer! Snatch up those pumpkins because they have amazing stems! I'm featuring your post on tomorrow's You're the Star on my blog, with the picture of your adorable ruffle pumpkin. I'm going to have to try that with some thread & ribbon. I never made it back to comment & tell you I did have the total colectomy with ileorectal anastomosis. I got very lucky not having to have a colostomy bag at 34 because there just happened to be a specialist surgeon traveling through our area teaching surgeons how to use the robotic equipment. He went to one of only 2 teaching hospitals in the country where they teach that method and not the total colectomy with diverting ileostomy. He did my surgery for free on his part (not the hospitals & other doctors involved) because he & his partner published a paper on me because I was the first immunocompromised patient to have the surgery. Other surgeons had been afraid to do it on someone like me (I've already been told I probably won't see my 11 year old graduate) because if everything wasn't pulled out exactly right, or if the bowel was nicked, the bacteria could spill into my abdomen. It turned into an emergency surgery because of past surgeries & scarring and it went from a 3-4 hour surgery to around 12 hours. The pain was horrendous upon waking, so I don't know if I'd do it again. I might take the 40 days in between you know whats (yes, it was that bad and my doctors were horrified at the condition of my intestines). I did get to see my surgery video and the large intestine. I had been heading to Tulane Medical School when I got bacterial meningitis & was told I could no longer work around people, much less sick people because the illness had just about completely killed my already failing (slowly before then quickly after) neutrophils. It was devastating, so getting to see the surgery was amazing. I don't really remember seeing the intestine though because I was coming out of anesthesia being wheeled to recovery. I made him promise to wake me to see it before it went to path and then incinerated. He did send me the picture though. I don't think it made up for the pain, but it was pretty great. Since the surgery didn't completely fix everything like it should have, they will have to place a gastric pacemaker for gastroparesis. They're doing everything they can to avoid it because, luck of all luck, I also have Factor V Liden. I got a blood clot in my superior mesenteric artery 6 weeks post op. They were shocked to just randomly have a clot that far out, & it took them 8 hours in the ER to find it. All of a sudden they were running and rushing me to the ICU lol. They had been dragging their behinds all day, then all of a sudden it's an emergency. Since it was so long after surgery, they sent in a geneticist who found the Factor V. It made sense though since my grandmother has had problems with clots since she was in her early 30s as well. They said I had an 80/20 survival rate because of the size & location of the clot, but I was never scared. God wasn't going to bring me through all I've gone through to go like that! Also, the bunny is too cute! It sounds like the entire neighborhood is feeding the little guy. He will be 30lbs when his people come home! Thanks for coming by to share on all three of my parties! Have a great week!
