I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

And now for a few Personal Notes...

 Food of the Week

On Friday, our son Joey treated us to a cheese steak pizza from a local eatery right down the road from us, Serpico's....

 So good!!

I was a bit under the weather yesterday, Saturday....

I think it was from eating too much of these things.....

I can not normally eat much fruit and veggies due to my IBS and Post Gall Bladder syndrome but I found these did not bother me...

But apparently, they do not bother me when eaten in moderation which I will now do....

The cantaloupe is from the Amish Farmer who sets up every Friday at the Valley Mart down the road from us....

Valley Mart, where Joe and our son and DIL, Jim and Danielle, always buy their Lottery tickets, will be closing in September....

My son Joey is thrilled because he once worked for Sheetz and loves their food....So much so that he often drives to one that is about 10 -15 minutes away a night for snacks....

If you are not familiar with Sheetz, it is very big in Western Pa. and has been moving into our area over the past few years....

" Sheetz, Inc. is an American chain of convenience stores and coffee shops owned by the Sheetz family. The stores sell custom food, beverages and convenience store items, with all locations having offered 24/7 service since the 1980s"

This will only give us more Food Options when they open.....

If interested in seeing what they have to offer, click HERE!

Next year, the Amish Farmer will be setting up on Fridays a bit further from us but only 10 minutes away in the Home Depot parking lot...

I spent yesterday relaxing....

A rarity for me....

It was nice and cool with low humidity so I took advantage of sitting reading a book, first on the Patio in the back....

First from this chair...

And then I moved to the other chair to get out of the Sun....

I finished the book I was reading and moved on to the 3rd one in the Series....

A delightful Series....

I then moved out to the front porch in the evening....

When I started to get eaten alive by the Mosquitos, I moved into the house and went up to my Sitting Room to read while Joe was watching Pittsburgh Steeler Football....

I do not like Football and have never watched it in my entire life!!!

I did enjoy my Carpe Diem Day and seized the day yesterday!!!

As I mentioned in my last post, this year, I wanted to expand upon an Apple theme that I decided to do for the late Summer in the Kitchen last year....

I wanted to add Sunflowers to it, making an easier transition into Fall......

And I wanted to bring back my Kitchen Tree which would also make my Fall decorating easier if the Tree was already set up in the Kitchen.....

In my last post, I shared my new late Summer theme of Apples and Sunflowers in this area of the Kitchen....

Click HERE if you missed that post....

Today, we will pick up where I last left off and show you what else I did in the rest of the Kitchen.....

On the side of the stove....

I "dabbled" and embellished this Dollar Tree sign I bought last year....

Apple and Sunflower pot holders....

Below....

I made a Sunflower and Apple arrangement to put in the grater that I hung.....

An Apple Orchard towel.....

Vintage Apple dish towel and a vintage apron hang on the side of the stove....

I tucked a few Sunflowers into the vintage Planter's Peanuts canister where I have my rolling pin collection.....

I hung a Dollar Tree Apple sign above the stove...

An Apple dish towel....

On the side of the stove, I simply taped a graphic printed off the computer over this sign....

Hung an Apple pot holder on the handle of the cabinet....

Apple and Sunflower dish towels I ordered from Boscov's.....

And added Apple rugs bought in Gabes a few years ago.....

Where my Kitchen window used to be before we made the Patio into our Den....

I had my son, Joey, order this set of curtains for me on Amazon for only $7.50!!

I do not have an Amazon account....

I hung the valance here as I treat this area as if there was still a window here....

In the side....

I hung an Apple pot holder and remember the Sunflower place mats I bought at Dollar Tree??

I decided to hang them on the sides of the cabinets....

And I added a wood cut out Apple that I made last year and added a small Sunflower to this year in the center of the place mats....

I also hung an Apple on each side of the valance from the curtain rod....

More Apples hanging from the tea cup chandy I made...

The Angel hanging in the middle of the chandy was a gift from a friend...

Same on the other side of the cabinets...

On the "window sill"....

I cut a Sunflower place mat that I added gimp trim to to fit on the sill....

A crackle glass Sunflower candle holder that I have fairy lights in that come on by timer....

Sunflowers in the milk bottle vases....

The wall on this side of the Kitchen.....

I hung another Apple sign from Dollar Tree.....

In this corner...

I added a few Sunflowers to the wire tea cup here....

I made the wreath to hang on the cabinets last year....

This year, I added Sunflowers to it.....

I like the pop of color it gives to it!!

I hung Dollar Tree Sunflower pot holders on the handles of the cabinets....

Just a few changes to the Beverage area....

I bought the metal Sunflower Bottle Cap like sign in Michael's a few years back...

I switched out my mugs for 2 solid white ones and the Sunflower ones I bought at Dollar Tree....

And changed out the place mat I use here to one of the Dollar Tree Sunflower ones...

Just a few simple changes....

I also changed up the top of the fridge....

I made up a new floral arrangement of Sunflowers and Apples for the vintage yellow enamelware coffee pot...

I made this Apple out of a roll of toilet paper last year....

I left my Hen out and placed a wood basket of Apples in front of her...

I used 2 of the graphics that I ran off  to make ornaments for my Tree in this theme....

By adhering them to gravy bottles using Spray Glue!

I covered the lamp shade with a vintage strawberry and Apple dish towel about 20+ years ago!!!

The counter bar....

I hung this Dollar Tree metal Truck sign that says "orchard"

I added 2 handmade Apple ornaments that I bought at a yard sale to the garland....

As I mentioned before, I made Apples out of toilet paper rolls last year....

I placed the green and yellow ones on each side of the lamp on the counter bar on top of red mercury glass candle holders....

I took 2 of the Dollar Tree Sunflower place mats and sewed them together to create a runner for the counter bar.....

I cut the cafe curtain from that set I got on Amazon....

To fit under the microwave on the counter bar....

And I used the top that I cut off to make another valance to hang here between the kitchen and hall....

On the side of the counter bar....

I made this last year using Apple garland and a vintage Apple napkin....

A vintage apron and the ceramic Hen cutting board was in my parent's Kitchen....

And that completes my Tour of our Kitchen decorated in an Apple and Sunflower theme for Late Summer and Early Fall.....

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I changed over my Kitchen, spending little money and a bit of creativity in using what I had in my stash........

I estimate I spent under $50 for this transformation....

The Kitchen will now stay like this until about the 3rd week of September when I change it over to Fall and Halloween.....

I do the Living Room first so that room I will start right after Labor Day and it usually takes a good week....

In my next post on Wednesday, I will be finishing up my Summer decorations by sharing my Summer Tree that I have in my Craft Room.....

So I hope you will stop by to visit again on Wednesday!!

Stay safe, healthy and most of all, HAPPY!!

  1. The steak pizza looks really good, I haven't had one like that in a long time. Your apple sunflower theme is just perfect for this time of year. Right now the farm near us is having pick your own peaches, we haven't gone to get any but will for sure when the apples are ready

  2. I really like the mixture of apples and sunflowers. Sounds like you had some terrific weather! I am a little jealous of your reading time. We have been overwhelmed with grandchildren lately.

  6. Hi Debbie, Your apples and sunflower theme is so cheerful and fun. My mom loved sunflowers and loved to decorate with that theme, and I always think of her when I see them. Your reading time sounds so nice. Our weather has been good here too, so I think I will try to get out and read, too!

  8. I love the combination of sunflowers and apples! They're perfect for late summer. The lighted vase in the corner of your countertop is so cute. Those sunflower curtains were a great find at $7.50! That's a good deal! I had my gallbladder removed 2 weeks before my wedding, but they didn't catch it until it was gangrenous! I had more than 250 gallstones which they had deemed "innumerable" before the surgery. I'm going to have to make sure I don't eat too much fruit. I haven't noticed anything going wrong when I eat it, but I've never eaten a lot. I do have issues with nuts though, but I think everyone post gallbladder removal does! I had IBS as well, but it got so bad that they had to remove my entire large intestine and appendix along with it because it had completely stopped doing the rhythmic motions it's supposed to make. I lucked out and got an amazing surgeon who is one of very few in the country who can remove the entire 5 feet of intestine and reattach the small intestine which allowed me to not have to have a colostomy bag. Yeah, that was never going to happen lol! I told my husband I would let it kill me before getting a bag at 33!! It was the Lord sending this amazing surgeon through our area for a few months, and He just urged me to finally confess everything to my regular doctor who immediately called the surgeon. I was so, so blessed! Thanks for sharing on Crafty Creators!
    XOXO,
    Niki

  9. I love how you incorporated Apples and Sunflowers in your kitchen. The colors are so cheery, I like how you used the sunflower curtains also, that you were gifted. I notice the lovely crochet hot pad above your store, I was fortunate this summer to thrift two hot pads the the red flower and trim. You did a amazing job decorating you kitchen with things you had in your stash. Your patio is so cozy also, my patio is a working in progress all of the time,(I have had grandkids this summer and the toys take over my back yard lol) Thank you for showing us your apples & sunflower décor.
