Apple and Sunflower Tree and Late Summer Kitchen Hutch!!

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!

I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Just a reminder, I will be posting on Wednesdays and Sundays every week so be sure to check back on those days to see a new post......

As always, click on each picture if you would like to enlarge it....

Today, I will be sharing my new late Summer theme of Apples and Sunflowers in the Kitchen....

In my last post, I shared this year's version of "A Day in the Park" on top of the TV Entertainment Center in the Living Room for Late Summer...

And now for a few Personal Notes...

 Food of the Week

We passed on the  Reheat and Eat Dinners from the WB Scranton Pens Food Service for this week as there is nothing that appealed to us....

We do not like clams, pork or beef....

Well, the grand pups went back home with their Mom and Dad......

Since COVID is never ever going away as viruses never disappear......

When my son and DIL came to pick up the grand pups after their trip to NYC, all 3 of us wore masks....

It was Jim's idea for me to have the harnesses and leashes on the pups and hand them to Jim and Danielle at my front door, with the other things they brought for them during their stay here.....

Jim and Danielle never came in the house.

After they left, I did a 5 minute surgical scrub on my hands and sprayed the entire LR with Lysol....

So far, so good....

This is going to be a long post so I may as well get to it.....

Many times, I have said that this is my focal wall in the Kitchen as it serves no purpose other than to be decorated.....

Too bad that wasn't the case with my entire Kitchen!!

LOL!!

After Easter, I decorated the Kitchen in a Hen and Rooster Country French Victorian theme.....

I had packed away the Kitchen Tree that graces this corner from late September til April, decorated for different Seasons and Holidays.....

And I replaced it with the yellow milk can filled with red and yellow roses for the Summer months....

Click HERE if you wish to see that post if you missed it.....

Well, truth be told....

I get tired of things when they are the same way for too long....

Last year, I decorated the Kitchen after July 4th in an Apple theme until it was time to decorate it for Fall/Halloween....

This year, I wanted to expand upon that theme and decorate it for late Summer, not only in an Apple theme but I wanted to add Sunflowers to it, making an easier transition into Fall......

I also wanted to bring back my Kitchen Seasonal Tree to make it easier for me as I have a lot of work in the Fall to do with changing over curtains and drapes in different rooms in the house....

I completely forgot that I made these apple ornaments last year in the Fall when I finally found them in Dollar Tree.....

A senior moment , I guess!!

LOL!!

Now since I did not remember that I made these ornaments last year and I could not find them again in Dollar Tree this year ( Thank God I didn't)....

I made these apple ornaments using felt that I had in my stash.....

I always say things are meant to be as I really like how these came out!!!

I also wanted to make a few more apple themed ornaments so I made  these.....

I painted wood pieces that I had in my stash and adhered graphics to them that I ran off from the computer using Spray Glue......

I bought these in Dollar Tree as Joe thought they looked like apples and they did have other ones in a pumpkin form.....

So I made them into apple ornaments even if they are not....

Next step was to bring the Tree up from the storage shed we rent.....

And I did change a few other things on this wall and in the hutch to go with the Apple and Sunflower theme.....

I moved the apple pie cutting board over here from another area in the Kitchen....

And now to my Late Summer/Early Fall Apple and Sunflower Tree.....

On the side of the Tree is a chalkboard.....

A simple faux Apple in a depression glass dish....

I pretty much used what I had, or made things, to decorate this Tree....

I started with a Sunflower yard stake for the topper.....

I made a bow from ribbon I had and glued a Dollar Tree Sunflower in the middle.....

I used Dollar Tree deco mesh rope for the garland on the Tree....

Added the ornaments and then tucked 2 different types of Sunflowers into the Tree....

They were also bought at Dollar Tree.....

I will let the pictures do the talking....

I am really happy with how this Tree turned out and I like the chalkboard ornaments as it reminds me that the kids are going to be going back to school soon......

I also did some rearranging and decorating of the hutch.....

Many years ago, I had an Apple border with a green background in the Kitchen and Apples were the theme of the Kitchen year round....

The 2 pictures hanging on the wall are from Home Interiors....

I bought the red wire Apple basket at a yard sale many years ago for $1.00 and filled it with faux Apples....

I bought the Apple clock at one of my favorite shops, Country Folk Gifts, which, unfortunately, is now closed.....

And this Home Interiors picture has Apples in it...

For the most part, the shelves have remained the same but I did move a few things down to the desk area....

I replaced the vintage fiesta ware plates with Sunflower ones bought at Dollar Tree.....

And I hung an Apple Pie sign in the center.....

I changed out the red doilies for all yellow ones bought in the Dollar bins at Michel's....

I did change the display on the desk area to Apples and Sunflowers, replacing the Summer Strawberries.....

I looked all over last year in different Dollar Tree stores, trying to find this Apple Cider sign last year and found it easily this year.....

I printed out the Apple Cider graphic and simply taped it to this ceramic milk can....

I made up an arrangement of Sunflowers and Apples for it....

I moved my vintage Hull Apple pieces from the shelves above, down onto the desk area....

You may remember that I bought the Sunflower place mat in Dollar Tree and dressed it up by adding some gimp trim to it.....

I also moved 2 vintage yellow fiesta ware cups over to the desk and placed faux Apples inside of them.....

And of course, with Apple Cider, you have to have a cinnamon bun......

I also decorated under the desk....

I made another arrangement for the Apple milk can that was bought at Michael's.....

I filled a vintage mason jar with faux Apples from Dollar Tree....

I bought these Apple ceramic knobs in Lowe's many years ago when I painted the desk after buying it for $10 at a yard sale and added the hutch to it, which I bought for $5 at a church flea market.....

Hanging on the side of the hutch....

Is the Dollar Tree sign that I "dabbled" with a bit.....

On this side of the hutch....

Wood Apples that were my neighbor Elly's in a vintage yellow ware bowl along with a vintage canister set with Apples on it.....

I made the embroidery hoop last year but added some Sunflowers to it this year....

I did have a great time "playing" in my Kitchen with this new theme for late Summer and Early Fall.....

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I changed up a few things, made a few things and totally created a different look in my Kitchen...

I hope you will be back on Sunday when I share the rest of the Kitchen done up in the Apple and Sunflower theme.....

  6. Stay safe, I agree the virus is never going away and we all need to learn to live with it with our own terms. I added some sunflowers to my entrance hall, a slow move to Fall accessories.
