I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

St. Patrick's Day China Cupboard, 2020

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Happy March!!!!

Can you believe that it is March already?????

We really have not had much of a Winter but March has been known to give us some of our biggest snow storms and Blizzards like this one in 2017 that dumped almost 2 feet of snow on us on March 16th!!!!!!
When I left work that morning, there was 13 inches of snow on the ground and I drove home in white out conditions!!!

It was the first time that I did not drive my little Hyundai Elantra and drove Joe's Hyundai Tuscon, an SUV, in snow....

I was thrilled that I made it home okay because none of the roads had been plowed but I actually had no trouble at all because most of the time, I cold not see where I was going!!!!
By the time it was all over, we had almost 21 inches of snow!!!!
Here I am shoveling our steps!!
I do honestly love to shovel and be out in the snow!!
And I do not mind driving in snow because I know how to do so after having to drive in it for over 41 years but I am always afraid of the people who do not know how to drive in snow and am thrilled now that I no longer have to think about it because I am retired!!!

But only time will tell what this March will bring in the way of weather.......

I spend almost all of this past week packing away both Winter and Christmas decorations that I had left out as part of my Winter decor in the Den.....

Then cleaning the Den......

And returning the room back to it's "normal" style when not decorated for the Holidays......

That is except for the China Cupboard and the area around it......
For many years, I decorated the Tree in the Den that I used for Christmas and Winter, for St. Patrick's Day......
But depending on when Easter fell, it made it hard to keep up with so a few years back, I decided to pass on some of my St. Patrick's Day decorations and keep what I could , using them to decorate the china cupboard in the Den for St. Patrick's Day instead......
Since I was waiting to have my Knee Replacement Surgery last year, I did not get to decorate for St. Patrick's Day.......

So I was really looking forward to do so this year........

Here in NEPA, there is a large population of descendants of Irish immigrants that came to America both before and because of the Irish Potato Famine in the 1840's.....

Scranton, Pa., hosts what is considered one of the largest St. Patrick's Day parades in the Country....
And pretty much, St. Patrick's Day celebrations go on for almost the entire month of March throughout NEPA!!!

Crazy, huh?????

Since I was taking down all of my Winter decorations, I decided to decorate the top of the China Cupboard also for St. Patrick's Day which is something that I had not done in years past.....
When I used to be a vendor at local Craft Fairs, I made and sold a lot of wreaths and had bought wreath stands to display them on......

I have passed on most of those wreaths stands to family and to other vendors that I know who could use those stands in their displays......

But I did keep  2 or 3 stands so I thought I would use one to display a St. Patrick's Day wreath that I made on top of the China Cupboard.......
I like to use my Old Curiosity Shop dishes for St. Patrick's Day because the scenes on them remind me of a village in Ireland.......
I have used some St. Patrick's Day ornaments as knick knacks so to speak......
Like the shamrock and angel in the above picture......
This sweet girl figurine is from Home Interiors and I thought she fit right in with her green garb.....
I made this wreath with florals from Dollar Tree years ago.....
I tucked this cute vintage style card in the center of the wreath.....
The tea pot in the in front of the candle is actually another ornament......
Again, more  Old Curiosity Shop dishes........
More Ornaments and little Leprechan hats bought at Dollar Tree........
Some of the ornaments were bought in Michael's and a few were bought at after Christmas Clearance sales over the years.....
A vintage St. Patrick's Day card......
To the right is my Thomas Kinkade Calendar......
I replaced the February plate with this pretty March plate......
Looks like a cottage in Ireland......
Let's take a look at how I decorated the inside of the China Cupboard.......
The Tree and area around the China Cupboard will be featured in my next post.......
I hung ornaments from the lace on top of the China Cupboard......
The top shelf.....
St. Patrick's Day ornaments added to the Old Curiosity Shop dishes......
And Pot of Gold favors from Dollar Tree.......
I also used a few green foil shamrock doilies.....
I also used white mugs bought at T J Maxx.......
The middle shelf.......
I kept getting a glare on the vintage styled St. Patrick's Day plaques bought at Michael's several years ago so I apologize for that.......
A vintage green depression glass bowl......
The sugar and creamer that matches the mugs on the top shelf......
A vintage post card rests in the bowl.......
A green carnation for Dollar Tree placed inside of the creamer......
The bottom shelf........
More vintage St. Pat's post cards......
The tea pot that goes with the rest of the other pieces........
St. Patrick's pipes were bought at Michael's........
The inside of the China Cupboard is lit with battery operated puck lights and I also ran a set of battery operated Fairy Lights through out the display.......
In my next post, I will be sharing the small Tree and the area around the China Cupboard that is also decorated for St. Patrick's Day.......
Now that the Den is done, I am moving on to returning the Powder Room back to "normal" which I should get done this weekend........

Next week, I hope to take down Winter and Valentine's decorations in the Kitchen, Dining Room and Living Room and start to decorate those rooms for Easter.......

So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

For February Rudolph Day, I posted over on my Christmas Blog about some ornaments that I bought after Christmas on Clearance and plan to use to decorate trees throughout the year....
Click HERE if you missed that post......

  1. SO pretty, Debbie!! I don't have a drop of Irish blood, but since I'm a March baby, St. Patrick's Day has always had a special place in my heart. And green is one of my favorite colors.

  3. Hi Debbie: I love all your different patterns on the Olde Curiosity Shop dishes. I have a whole set but they are just of the one scene. I don't know if I will do much for St. Patty's Day. Christmas about did me in and I am still putting some stuff away. Thanks for your sweet visit..xxoJudy

  4. Hi! I'm Tiane, from Brasil! I arrived here on Amalia's blog. The reference to Christmas in the name of your blog caught my attention. I love Christmas! And I love craft decoration! And I love antiques and gardening! I saw in your profile that we have some affinities. Dirty Dancing and Pretty Woman are also among my favorite films. I was impressed by the amount of snow that fell in your city! Wow! I never saw snow, despite living in one of the coldest regions of Brazil. Not cold enough to snow. It's summer here. I didn't see your entire blog, but I intend to see other posts later. Have a nice week and a beautiful march!
