I am a Victorian Soul, who lives in a small townhouse that was built in the mid 1970's, not a huge Mega Mansion!! I just recently lost my Hubby Joe, who was a Retired Letter Carrier. I worked night shift as an RN on a Hospital based Rehabilitation( Physical Medicine) Unit for 37 years before I had Knee Replacement Surgery and officially Retired in 2019 after 41 years working in Direct Patient Care ... I am so glad that we retired at 62 years of age and got to spend that time together before he passed....I still do love Retirement!!!!

I DABBLE IN A BIT OF THIS AND THAT!!!!

A Few New Things

 Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

Today, I am going to be sharing a few new things both bought and found within my stash!!!

In my last post, I talked about why I chose the word "CONTEMPLATE" for my Word of the Month for February.....
Click HERE if you missed that post.....

I have been doing a bit of shopping, not much because I am trying to not buy a lot of new things......

After all, I am retired now.....

I REFUSE to say that I am on a fixed income because I truly HATE that expression as I feel no one is on a fixed income because you can work part time when retired, like Joe does, and you do get cost of living raises with Social Security......

My salary was frozen for 4 years one time because I "made too much money" and they were moving other RN's salaries up to those of us who had a lot of seniority.....

Now that was what I called a fixed income!!!!

I bought these cute egg shaped Easter dessert plates at Tuesday Mornings.....
 They were $7.99 for a 4 pack......
I thought they were adorable and affordable and they are melamine......

I found these peach pillows for my Living Room at 5 Below , of all places!!!!!
And YES, they were only $5.00 a piece!!
I love the velvety like fabric on them.....
I will mention that I also saw the exact same pillows in Dollar General and they were $10 a piece!!!!!!
I have noticed that there is a lot of peach and aqua in the stores, especially Michael's, for Spring and Easter!!!

See!!  I knew I would be back in style again some day!!!

LOL!!

In Gabes, I bought this rather cozy looking peach throw for $9.00!!
I bought a few other things and had a coupon for $5 off $25 so it was even cheaper!!
Believe me, it is as soft as it looks!!!!

I also bought this rug set for $9.99 at Gabes.....
Perfect for my Kitchen....maybe for the early Fall........
And the $5 off $25 was also applied to this price......

I had a 15%  off everything coupon at Ollie's and I found these!!
I have been thinking about buying aqua curtains for the Living Room for the Spring/Summer and for $7.99 a pair.......
With the 15% off, it took each pair down to $6.29!!!

One pair for the Living Room window with maybe my peach lace curtains that I usually use in the Spring/Summer......
One pair for the faux window in the Living Room.......

And the third pair to make valances out of......
 All for under $19!!!!!!

Okay, I still have my Winter and Valentine decorations up as I keep them up until the last week of February.......

I found in my stash these galvanized cardinal ornaments that I bought last year in the Dollar bins at Michael's......
When I initially bought them, I thought that I would paint them red......
But I decided not to and added them to this little Tree on top of the refrigerator in the Kitchen.....
And they match the galvanized hearts hung here in the Kitchen......
Speaking of this area, this is how the sill looked when I first shared it......
You may remember that I bought these things at Gabes after Christmas and the bird houses were only $1.99 each......
Well, I painted the blue one red.......
And decided to place it on top of the crackle glass red cardinal votive.......
Also when going through things in the Craft Room, I found this heart plaque that I had made and I added some red tinsel trim to it to give it more of a vintage look......
I hung it here in the hallway downstairs......
I also found more of the red velvet ribbon embossed with roses that I used on the Living Room Valentine's Tree......
I took these pics without the tree lights on......
I decided to change out the bows made from musical note ribbon here on the candle holders on top of the TV Entertainment Center.......
With bows made from the red velvet ribbon......
Much better, I think......
And I also made new bows for the lanterns on the stairs......
I just love this beautiful ribbon that I bought years ago at Target and was thrilled to find another roll of it!!!!

This week, I will be having some friends over for a Winter/Valentine's luncheon on Friday and I will also be having our good friends , Anne Marie and Tony, over for a lasagna dinner on Sunday......

I am so looking forward to spending time with good friends this week......

Next week, I will re-decorate the china cupboard in the Den for St. Patrick's Day....
This is the only place in the house that I decorate for St. Patrick's Day......

And then I will start to take down Winter/Valentine's Decor and decorate for Easter which I am really looking forward to as I did not get to do it last year.......

I have been taking down Christmas in the upstairs which I do put off until February after I get the downstairs re-decorated........

After all, Joe and I are the only ones that go upstairs after Christmas is over and I am not showing anyone the Christmas decorations up there so I feel there is no hurry.....

I just have to take down and pack away the Tree in the Sitting Room and then I am done....

I did work on the Craft Room over the weekend and I re-decorated the tree in there for Spring and Summer as this Tree stays up year round......

Here is a sneak peak......
 And all lit up......
I will be doing a post on this soon.......

In my next post, I will be sharing the "Before" of the upstairs Hallway.......

You will see why I will not be sharing the "after' yet......

So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

  4. You got some pretties, Debbie. I need to get back to Tuesday Morning. I love those bunny plates. That is where I got my last Christmas cardinal dishes. They are also melamine. They sure have some cute patterns in melamine. Believe it or not, I still have my little Christmas tree up in the dining room although I did put the decorations away. After seeing yours, I wish I had decorated it for Valentine's Day. Yours is so pretty. You really got some good bargains and can't wait to see all that you do with them..xxoJudy
