Winter/Valentine's Vignettes and What I Made from A Tablecloth in the Kithen, 2020

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!
10 years ago this week, I started my Blogs, Debbie-Dabble and A Debbie-Dabble Christmas!! In that time, I have honed my computer skills, increased my knowledge of photography, created a "Journal" of my life for my Family and Friends, learned so much from other Bloggers, made "Friends" with incredible people all over the World even though we will most likely never meet and lost some of those friends as a few have passed away, rejoiced in the Triumphs of others and cried with them over their losses of spouses, parents, children and Fur Babies and have been able to travel to places that I will never be able to go and see them through other's eyes!!!

It has been one exciting ride!!
One for which I will be forever grateful......
I have also had to copy most of my earlier posts onto this Blog, creating a brand new Blog in 2016, when my original one was hacked through a  Face Book Page that I created with a direct link to my Blog....

And I did it myself!!

I had over 700 Followers on my original Blog  through Blogger but lost them when I created a new one....

Over the years, I have been discouraged with the changes in Blogging especially because it has  become more Professional with more advertising and more Blogs lacking in that personal touch that was so prevalent a decade ago....

BUT just when I think that maybe I want to stop, I am reminded that I do not know who is reading my Blog and what it might mean to them...

This is an email I received about my Christmas blog just a month ago.....

"Hi Im 84 YEARS OLD and I cant thank u enough for your XMAS BLOG Sincerely JANE"

And this an email that I also recently received from a former customer of mine when I sold my Victorian crafts on Ebay, who I never knew was following my Blogs until a few years ago.....

"I still follow you and love every word. I am always uplifted when I finish seeing your comments. I still have the lovely bathroom lavender set I got many years ago and you are thought about literally. They look as lovely today as they did the day they arrived in the mail. We downsized last summer to a townhouse. We have no stairs now.
I am so excited that you are going to show that wonderful place decorated for Christmas in your next blog. Patricia"

These both brought tears to my eyes....

As I enter the Retirement Phase of my Life, I now look forward to Blogging because it provides me an avenue to create a "Journal" of my Life and Passions and helps me to foster Friendships that I never would have had other wise.....

So here's to another 10 years of Blogging and I sincerely hope that you all will continue to Follow along with me on this incredible journey!!!

To celebrate my 10 year Blogging Anniversary, I gave Debbie-Dabble Blog a Face Lift.....

She was looking a bit drab so I decided to spruce her up a bit.....Did you notice the new look???

What do you think???

In my last post, I started sharing how I decorated our Kitchen for Winter with a touch of Valentine's added......
Click HERE if you missed this post....

The Kitchen is decorated for Winter in a cardinal and bird theme.....

I will start off this post by showing you what we did with Joe's Christmas gifts from our niece Renae and our great nieces Cortney, Caitlin and Carly.....
They gifted Joe these Pittsburgh Steeler knives and pizza cutter.......

Joe found a magnetic cutlery holder in Bed, Bath and Beyond.......
It is even strong enough to hold the pizza cutter and they do match my Kitchen!!!

I left off here by the stove......
A vintage apron with a heart pocket hangs on the side of the stove.....

Valentine towels hung from a magnetic towel bar on the stove........
I left the greenery from Christmas among the vintage rolling pins......
All the local News organizations are running the story about the ad which will air during the Super Bowl about Wilkes Barre's Native son, My Peanut, from Planter's Peanuts, meeting his demise, sacrificing himself to save his friends.....

Planters Peanut Company was founded in 1906, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, by Amedeo Obici , an Italian immigrant and was incorporated two years later as the Planters Nut and Chocolate Company.

Mr. Peanut was a fixture on Wilkes Barre's Public Square when I was a child and Joe even worked with a guy who portrayed Mr. Peanut as a second job......

My Mother used to keep the grinder that she used to grind nuts for making Polish Nut Roll and my Dad used to make kielbasi, in this Planter's can.....
I have no idea how old it is but I remember it was I was just a young kid so it is definitely over 55 years old I would say....
And I do have this Mr. Peanut bank proudly displayed on one of the shelves in my Kitchen....
I bet that Mr. Peanut has not met his demise and still lives to fight another day, what do you think?????

Above the stove.....
I bought white frames in Target a few years back for 99 cents each and I put pictures from calendars in the frames......
I hung Valentine's hearts above the stove......
On the side of the stove....
After Christmas, I bought several tablecloths at Boscov's on Clearance......

I paid under $2.00 for this plaid tablecloth!!
I bought it with the intention of using it to make valances and a curtain for the Kitchen like I did for Christmas and Fall.......
You can see one of the valances hung here where the Kitchen window used to be before we make the patio into the Den......
And I also made a "scarf" for the window sill......

This is what it looked like at Christmas....
I hung a few hearts from the gingerbread work in the corners....
I hung Winter potholders on the sides of the cabinet.....
I love this one with the snow man and cardinal....
I hung birdhouses with cardinals from the valance rod.....
I made a bow from plaid and cardinal ribbon and hung it on the tea cup chandy that I made....
I hung red hearts......
And a cardinal ornaments from the chandy.....
On the windowsill......
A red cardinal inside of a canning jar embossed with a snowflake on it....
And a red cardinal snow globe.....

A red house ornament sets on top of the canning jar....
A red cardinal crackle glass votive with LED fairy lights inside of it sits in the center.....
Snow balls and pine cones were also added.....
A red cardinal globe ornament and another canning jar.......

This one has a snowman embossed on the front of it......

And a red barn ornament sets on top of it......
I made the "scarf " from the scraps left over ......

To the right side of the sink.....
Valentine's dish towels......
And a cute snow man oven mitt.....
Winter beverage bar......
I left up the Hot Cocoa Bar sign from Christmas.....
I changed the mugs.......
Besides plain white ones, I have 2 Valentine's ones and 2 with this pretty Winter scene on them.....
A pretty hand painted cardinal glass holds my sugar substitute packets, the small snow man tea pot holds regular sugar and a jadite bowl holds my flavored coffee creamers.....
I placed a clear acrylic board over the pretty quilted bird place mat to protect it from spills......
In the corner on a shelf are enamel containers are flavored tea bags and hot cocoa packets.....
Over by the refrigerator.....
I hung another picture taken from a calendar that I framed.......
On top of the refrigerator......
I also made a "scarf" for the top of the refrigerator.....

More red cardinals and a enamelware tea pot with cardinals painted on it.....
This was the small Tree that was on the window sill decorated with candy ornaments for Christmas....
I hung a few hearts on it and topped it off with the lid from the tea pot.....
I place it inside of a wooden basket with a sweet Winter scene painted on it
A vintage Lefton small cardinal pitcher....
A Jim Shore Angel ornament holding a cardinal.......
The counter bar.......
I kept up the garland that was hung above the counter bar for Christmas.....
I hung red plaid ornaments from it......
And added red plaid and cardinal ribbon bows on each end....
I bought these sweet red checked owls in Dollar Tree in 2018....
I also hung white icicle ornaments......
I also left up the Galley sign......
I like how it looks with my stained glass lamp on the counter.......
I could not find a red and black plaid runner or place mat for the top of the counter but I did find a rag rug so I used that.......
Since the microwave is on the shelf under the counter bar, I like to use a clear acrylic board to put hot containers on after taking them out of the microwave.....
I love the look of this stained glass lamp in the evening.....
This is the left side of the counter bar.....
And here is the area that I made a curtain for.....
It hides the shelves underneath the microwave.....
You can see that I still have the rugs that I used for Christmas out......
On the right side of the counter bar, I left the chalkboard and the Coffee and Hot Cocoa sign up from Christmas.....
I just added a cute snow man.....

And this is where I used the 2nd valance that I made from the tablecloth.....
I like to hang a valance here to soften the blow between the peach color of the hall way and the red and yellow of the Kitchen......
It was much cheaper to use the fabric from the tablecloth rather than to buy fabric......

And that completes my little tour of our Kitchen decorated for Winter with a touch of Valentine's Day......

In my next post, we will be moving down the hall to the right and taking a look at the Powder Room now that Christmas things have been removed and a few Valentine's have been added.......
So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

  7. Hi Debbie,
Happy Ten Years!! Wow! I linked up just after you at Oh My Heartsie Girl so I stopped over here to say hi. I'm up way past my bedtime. Those little crocheted dresses hanging on the mercantile sign--- I've made some similar to them a long time ago. Maybe someday I will post about them.
I never cease to be amazed at all the things you decorate, and the ways you find places for all of them.
