Winter Front Porch and Yard, 2020

Welcome to Debbie-Dabble Blog!!
I am so happy you decided to stop by!!

If you missed my last post , here on my regular blog, please click HERE to read why I am not choosing One Little Word for 2020 and what I am doing instead......

Since we live in NEPA, Winter in our area is far from over..........

In fact,  we have been known to get snow in April.......

For a few years now, I have decorated the Front Porch and Yard of our townhouse for Winter......
I was lucky enough to take these pictures of the front of our house after we had a little bit of snow the other day.....

Since I re-did the wreaths that hang on our windows for Christmas in a more natural look, I decided to leave them out for the Winter this year.......
Before I go any further, the pictures above were taken with my old camera........

On Thanksgiving weekend, I bought myself a new camera.........
I did not want to dish out a lot of money and since my last 2 cameras were Kodak, after much research and debate, I was looking at this camera, a Kodak Pix Pro AZ401......
And wouldn't you know it, it was on sale in Walmart for $50 off so that took it down to $100!!!

I let it sit, much to Joe's dismay because he truly has no patience, until the other day when I was finally ready and had time to "play" with it......

So far, so good.......

The rest of the pictures in this post were taken with the new camera, which I am still getting use to......

The front of our house, now decorated for Winter.....
This is what it looked like at Christmas......
A few years ago, I wised up and added my Winter outside decor to my Christmas decor so all I have to do is take away a few blatantly Christmas items.......
I used to use all red velvet bows for Christmas but some of them had faded so I replaced them with the red striped burlap ribbon bows that I made for Winter.....
This made it even easier to change over to Winter......
At Christmas.....
Red velvet bows and Christmas wreath on front door are gone......
I still left the lighthouse that I made out of clay pots out as it is too heavy to pack away.....
Left the Christmas Gnome out so he is now a Winter Gnome and took away the Merry Christmas sign that was there and replaced it with a Winter Slate.....
All snow flakes were already in place......
A Winter wreath that I made a few years ago......
I see I have to paint over the "Let it Snow" on the sign as it is fading away......
 Cardinal ribbon and pine cones.....

 That's better, don't you think????
I quickly went over it with a black marker until I have a chance to paint it!!

I took away all things Christmas......
And added a few Winter Slates.....
My childhood sled will grace the porch for the remainder of the Winter as it has in many years past.....
I hung Winter slates near the door.....
I bought the Snow sign at Gabes several years ago.......
And this cute snow man was bought at Wegman's.........
In the corner of the porch.......
Another wreath that I made and used to hang on the front window...
I hung it here since I left the other wreaths from Christmas on the windows......

This cute slate was my dear neighbor Elly's......
And she did collect Snow Men......I have a few of them in my Den for the Winter......
 A Winter flag......
More Winter slates......
I did not have to touch the railing as the snowflakes were already on it!!!
The flower bed in front of the Living Room window......
Next year, I will not put the red truck ornaments on the wreaths because they say Merry Christmas but at the time, I was not planning on keeping them up for the Winter....
Maybe after the snow melts, I will send Joe into the flower bed to take it off this wreath.......

The ones on the bedroom windows are too high up to see what it actually says and I do not feel like opening the windows and trying to pull them off......
I had hoped to fill those pots with greenery cut from the woods by our house but we did not get a chance to before the dirt in the pots froze.......

Winter mini flags....
If we have a thaw that lasts long enough, we will try to get those pots filled with greenery......
We did get to fill these urns before everything froze.....
The front yard......
All I had to do with the faux mailbox was to remove the red velvet bow from the greenery around the base of the mailbox......
My bunnies and deer are almost covered.......
My park bench and lamp post.....
I just removed the red velvet bow from the lantern on the park bench.....
  Another Winter mini flag....
Just wanted to share how pretty snow and a bit of sun looked the other day......
And with my new camera, even though it was a bit cloudy, I was finally able to take pictures of an almost Full Moon......
These were taken from our front porch......

It took me only about 3-4 hours to pack away the Christmas things and change over the front of our house to Winter decor.......

It took me years to figure out that incorporating both Christmas and Winter decor together makes it a lot easier to do so!!

I guess I am getting smarter in my old age.......

I still have one more post to share over on my Christmas Blog before I stop posting there regularly since the Holiday Season has come to a close......

I hope you will visit there as I share my Epiphany or Feast of Three Kings tablescape.......
And look back on my simple Holiday tablescapes from this past Season........

Along with sharing some After Christmas Buys.......
I will then be returning here to my regular Blog to post.....

In the future, I will be sharing how I changed over Christmas decorations to Valentine and Winter decor inside our townhouse....
So I hope you will stop by to visit again soon!!

Thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!

If you do not have a blog, PLEASE  give me some way to reply to your comment, maybe by including your email in your comment.  If I can not find a way to reach you, I will reply on the post where you commented so please check back......

  2. pLovely decorations, Debbie, your winter outdoor decorations are so pretty, I took all mine down asap as we are getting prepared for my dh's knee surgery on the 22! I am thinking about putting putting out Valentine's Day next week.
Thank you for sharing, your home is always so inviting.
    Blessings,

  3. Beautiful porch! Good idea to mix Winter in with Christmas so there isn't double decorating later.

  4. Every year my husband and I have a discussion about the switch from Christmas to Winter. I have a collection of three sleds that belonged to my aunt and my mother in the 1930's. I stack two on my porch and stand the third one up on top of them. For Christmas they are surrounded by packages wrapped in bright Christmas foil. And we dispose of the boxes, I have two pairs of ice skates, one white and one black from when my children were little that I use to adorn the sleds and leave them there. Every year my husband tries to pack them in the garage after Christmas. Today I was out of town and while I was gone - the sleds went up in the garage. He forgot . . .

  5. Hi Debbie,
I like that you could change out easily from Christmas to winter theme. Your new camera takes great pics and the front looks so pretty for the rest of winter. We are like you here in Illinois with having winter months last almost until May. So to have some outside things to keep it cheerful until Spring is so great. Have a great new week ahead.
    Hugs,
    Kris

  8. Goodness, it seems like Christmas zoomed by---who knew that such a late Thanksgiving would make a difference. We finally have snow here also--just a few inches to freshen everything! I'd keep up decorations if there were any. We had a tree get trimmed and a huge branch fall, which I stole branches from and stuffed them in all my containers--since they were still not frozen. Lights make such a difference...and I miss them, as they were all different colors and definitely Christmas. You home looks so cheery..and I'm sure the birds love perching on everything. Thanks for sharing, always fun posts!

  10. Always love seeing how you change your decor around. Like the winter dishes! I did put my Nativity set away but I keep saying "one more day" about the small Christmas tree. Maybe tomorrow as we are due for a snowstorm! Made a cute snowflake and snowman garland for my archway. There is so much winter outside (in Maine) that I guess I have never been too enthusiastic!

    1. Kathy,
Thanks so much for stopping by and for taking the time to comment so I know that you did...We are expected to get 5-6 inches of snow tomorrow...That is more like the January weather that we normally get and not the 50 degree temps. we have been having....It is 18 degrees this morning...I have now finished the Den, the Powder Room and the Kitchen as far as taking down Christmas, cleaning and re-decorating for Winter and Valentine's....Will be sharing all soon.....I hope you have a great weekend!!
      Hugs,
      Deb

  11. I left out one small winter tree. Mostly rain here and fog. Good after Christmas sale items you found. I didn't go out like I did last year. I have though purchased a few Christmas gifts to put away for a few that I know they would like. Everything looks festive and you have the snow to go with it. I want snow!!!!!!!!!

  13. Wonderful new photos! I got myself a new camera for Christmas and have only used it a few times as I am still trying to get used to all the new settings and buttons and my boys just don't understand why I keep using my old somewhat broken camera 1/2 the time instead. LOL. I keep trying to explain that sometimes it's just easiest to use what I know. Thanks for sharing with us at Encouraging Hearts and Home. Pinned.
