Today, I will be showing you how I "Dabbled" a bit and embellished this Dapper Looking Gentleman!!
But first, I want to Thank Pam, over at An Artful Mom, for featuring my post, Fall Crafting in the Past, from last week's Thursday Favorite Things Party!
Thanks so much, Pam!!!!
I also want to Thank Sinea. over at Duck's N a Row, along with all the other hosts of the Wonderful Wednesday Blog Hop, for featuring my post, Front Yard Garden Update, among the Very Popular Viewed Posts!!!
Thanks so much, Sinea and all the other hosts of the Wonderful Wednesday Blog Hop!!!
Please stop by and link up to these great parties!!!
I am sorry that I have been missing in action lately...
I have been suffering from a Urinary Tract Infection, all while taking down and packing up my late Summer "Under the Sea" decorations.........
Stripping down our Living Room, giving it a "real good" cleaning,.......
Changing over linens and curtains to my Fall/Winter ones..............
Waiting until it FINALLY cools down so I can clean the window after taking the air conditioner out......
Boxing up some of my "Regular" things in preparation for decorating for Fall, Halloween and Christmas!!
It is quite a process!!!
I am finally starting to feel better......
We HOPE to be able to take the air conditioner out of the Living Room window this coming weel when temps. finally go down into the 70's.....
I can not set up my Fall Tree in the corner of the Living Room until then.....
So I am very much behind in my Fall decorating!!!!
In my last post, I shared how I changed this picture........
In to this.......
Click HERE if you missed that post......
You may remember that I bought this Scarecrow at a Church Flea Market in June for a mere $2.00!!!!
I decided I need to "Dabble" with him a bit and "Spruce" him up........
You can see his poor nose is hanging!!
I glued it back on........
I dressed up his hat but adding some Gimp trim and a leather button that I had in my Crafting Stash......
You can see how plain his suspenders were......
I added a bit of elegance to them!!
First, I gave him a bow tie!!!
I made the bow from deco mesh ribbon bought in Dollar Tree and added another leather button in the center of it.......
Next, I added gimp trim to his suspenders......
And embellished them with a few more leather buttons.......
More gimp trim was added as a waist band.......
I also dressed up the cuffs on his sleeves which had nothing but a piece of string tied around them.....
By again adding gimp trim and a leather button.....
I also glued an Autumn leaf onto his sleeve.....
You can see how much better he looks already!!!
His pants were rather plain.........
I added more gimp and a button to the patches on his pant leg........
And a leaf to his other pant leg.....
I covered the string at the bottom of his pants with gimp trim and another button and used a different color of gimp trim to cover the wood dowels that were used for his legs.......
When I finally bring down my Fall decorations from the attic, I may add a few acorns that I have to the platform that he stands on........
And maybe one or two more colorful leaves.......
I hope you enjoyed seeing how I turned this rather beaten looking Scarecrow into this Quite Dapper Looking Gentleman!!!
It has been humid and raining here most of the week, preventing me from doing any Fall decorating outside.......
And we are supposed to get remnants of Hurricane Florence this coming week.......
So I have no idea when I am going to decorate my front porch.......
I want to mention that after we all send our Thoughts and Prayers for the safety of the victims of Hurricane Florence, we need to donate to charities like the Red Cross and others to help these people get through this unfortunate time in their lives.......
I think the above photo makes my point........
I hope you will be back to visit again soon.......
And thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!
If you do not have a blog, PLEASE give me some way to reply to your comment, maybe by including your email in your comment. If I can not find a way to reach you, I will reply on the post where you commented so please check back......

Hi!!!I 'm back! Your gentleman is so nice and pretty. I love the autumn colours
ReplyDeleteHugs
Ho[e you are feeling better. A very dapper gentleman indeed, he looks very grand.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, he looks lovely Debbie. I hope the rain stops so you can start on your porch :) Thanks for sharing at #CreativeMondays, hope to see you tomorrow for our next blog hop.
ReplyDeleteYour Scarecrow is adorable with all of his new touches. I love those leather buttons the most!
ReplyDeleteOur temps have been in the upper 90's still. 98 today. We were blessed here in mid Ga. that Hurricane Florence skipped us but it is still the peak of Hurricane season. We usually experience some of that with the flooding and damaging winds in our area. Florence has been a particularly bad experience for many!
I hope you are feeling better. There is much work to do with Fall decorating! I'm so ready for Fall this year!
Love the scarecrow. I found the cutest one for a friend of mine. She had pigtails and sunflowers for bows. I always feel inspired by you. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteDapper, indeed! Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm!
ReplyDeleteAwww....what a cute find. You did a wonderful job making him over. He looks totally refreshed and new!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I’m so sorry you haven’t been feeling well. I hope you feel better soon. Your gentleman certainly is dapper in his spruced up duds. Thanks for linking to Keep in Touch.
ReplyDeleteHe is a dapper fellow Debbie! We are having temps in the 70's this week and it's so nice. Hope you cool down and that you feel better soon!! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
We love your dabble on this guy. He looks great....You saw his potential. Great find for $2. Thank you for sharing him (and your creativity) at Reader Tip Tuesday last week. We look forward to seeing what you have to share at this week's party. xo http://www.jodiefitz.com/2018/09/25/reader-tip-tuesday-weeks-craft-recipe-party-14-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2/
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear you're starting to feel better and that it's finally started cooling down for you guys. It's been really hot here and it's only the beginning of Spring. Love the way you dressed up your little gentleman scarecrow too.
ReplyDeleteAw, he is just adorable! Love all the little embellishments you added. Pinned.
