Today I will be sharing what I call as The Patio Project....
What started out as just a paint job turned into a whole Project.......
But first I want to thank the hosts of the Share It One More Time Inspiration Party, for sharing my post, Things are Starting to Bloom, from last week's party!!!
Thanks to Tammy, over at One More Time and Barb, over at The Everyday Home!!
Please stop by and link up to this great party!!
As I mentioned before, I will be sharing our Patio Project.......
It started with me making some new wreaths for the windows of the Den, which you can see are in the little patio that we have off the back of the house covered by an awning........
And a wreath for the back door.......
If you missed the post about the wreaths, click HERE
You can see that the paint was peeling on the trim around the windows and it was a few years since I painted the back of the house........
So Joe decided to do a bit of painting........
He taped off the window trim........
Here he is checking out his work........
I helped finish the trim on the windows.......
And around the back door.....
While he got busy painting the back wall of our townhouse.......
Years ago, I decided to paint the back of the house this color.
You can see that my next door neighbor's is still painted dark brown which was the color that the back of all the houses in our row of 10 townhouses was originally painted.......
The dark brown drew the heat of the Summer in and made the back of the house so hot so I went with a lighter color......
Once the walls and trim were painted and looked nice and fresh, the Patio then became a Project......
I call this a case of the Snow Ball Project.......
Just like a snow ball rolling down a hill, the snow ball gets bigger and bigger........
Or it could also be called the "Might as Well" Project......
Once you do one thing, you "might as well' do this and "might as well" do that.......
This is exactly what happened with the Patio.........
I figured I "might as well' spray paint all the barracks and the bell a gloss black to freshen them up because they were different shades of green.......
You can see the barracks on this side of the patio.......
And the bell hung here by the door......
Joe added a black chain to ring the bell , replacing the tattered rope that was previously there......
I also spray painted the barrack over on the other side of the Patio......
We recently went to Ollie's and they had some discontinued Valspar Spray Paint for $1.99 a can.......
The cherub planter above was painted a pretty purple...........
So were these 2 chairs that I use to hold flower pots....
One on the patio .........
And one in the yard........
I also bought some yellow and blue spray paint........
I painted this plant stand blue.......
And this table, which was already painted yellow, was freshened up a bit........
And these plant stands were also painted.........
Along with this pot holder......
And this birdcage, which was white before......
Next, I decided that I would freshen up the mirror with a new coat of gloss white spray paint......
Originally, the iron scroll work was brown but I decided to paint the whole thing white to make it easier for me!!
The metal holders that the lanterns are resting on were painted with a gloss black......
I still wasn't done yet........
These signs were originally painted the color of the wall and the lettering was painted green........
I decided to give them a new look while I was at it.........
I painted them gloss white like the trim around the windows.......
And I painted the lettering gloss black.......
Here is the smaller sign hung back up between the windows.......
And the larger sign above the back door......
I also spray painted the wreath hanger a gloss black too!!
This project took off like a snow ball rolling down a hill........
Getting bigger and bigger and bigger........
And I definitely fell victim to the "might as well" effect, didn't I ??????
In my next post, I will share how the Patio looks now that it is all put back together and ready for the Summer.........
But we are still not done with the Patio Project..........
As soon as we have a few days of nice weather with no rain, we will be painting the concrete flooring in the Patio........
And I still have to plant all my pots with annuals but I won't be doing that until the middle of May to sure that there is no threat of frost......
And thanks to those who took the time out of their busy day to spend a little bit of time with me!!
If you do not have a blog, PLEASE give me some way to reply to your comment, maybe by including your email in your comment. If I can not find a way to reach you, I will reply on the post where you commented so please check back......
Hugs,
Debbie

Please take some time to visit these terrific hosts and all those joining in on the fun!
I should be out doing what you are doing. I like those pops of purple and purple chair. I have one I have been figuring on painting or should I say finish painting since last year. I know, it should've been finished. I am glad you brought up Ollies as that is a store that is not close to me but deals are to be had there. That paint for $1.99 cannot be beat. You have a lovely area to spend some nice evenings in. O.K., you've inspired me to get to work .
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday to you,
betsy
Don't you just love the look of everything with a fresh coat of paint.....and you got such a wonderful deal on your paint too! I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your patio progress...hugs...
ReplyDeleteIsn't that how most projects are??? They tend to grow and get bigger and bigger than first intended. :) Your patio improvements look great and it is so nice to make it more enjoyable to use.
ReplyDeleteAll fresh and ready for spring. Enjoy that beautiful patio. Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteYour patio looks so fresh and very colourful. Good job! The wreaths are stunning
ReplyDeleteHugs Alessandra
your patio looks so fresh and welcoming.. I feel like sitting there ..
ReplyDeletePlease visit: http://from-a-girls-mind.blogspot.com
It looks so fresh and crisp and clean. What a great "snowball" project. Thanks for sharing at Monday Social.
ReplyDeleteI love the wreaths. I need to do that myself. I have the flowers and some grapevine. I just need to get moving. I love what you have done... Janice
ReplyDeleteI love the bright colors! You were so right to paint a lighter shade. I love it. Our greenhouse room is a dark
ReplyDeletechocolate brown. We'll see how hot it ends up being. I love the color it leans toward our Cozy Cabin theme but it will probably make it hotter. Thanks for coming by and linking. And thanks for asking about the button. I didin't make one because I did this party at the last minute. I planned Copy Cat but I just didn't think I would get many to participate so I decided 'Anything Goes' might be received better. I love the idea of a button I will work on one and let you know when I have it done! Thanks again my friend! Have a wonderful Wednesday and rest of the week. XXOO
Everything looks terrific all freshened up with a new coat of paint! Good luck with the patio. My hubby said we had a small bit of frost last night here too, and we are suppose to be passed that now.
ReplyDeleteJoe did a great job on the paint. Your patio looks great! I know with your green thumb, the patio will be bursting with beautiful flowers in no time! Love your colorful planters!! Pinned. Take care of you and Joe!

What a wonderful sense of accomplishment you and Joe must be feeling. Everything looks so pretty, colorful and fresh. Makes such a difference in how we feel about our home. You're lucky you're allowed to put different color on siding. Do you have an HOA? Most of townhouse places make you all have same colors, UGH! We lived in townhouses in San Diego area years ago.
ReplyDeleteWe have a single wide mfg. home on 1/2 acre out in rural area (few miles west of Grand Junction, CO) now so can do whatever we want. Hubs painted an old square patio table with glass top a pretty light teal and two of our old plastic chairs to match for our small front porch. Really brightened up the front porch so now looking to do more refreshing. Front porch faces East so have nice shade in afternoon. Our back deck faces due West but is so hot in summer can hardly touch door knob. Would love to have pergola over deck but hubs and I not up to building one anymore. We have hurricane winds out here also which totally limits what we can cover deck with. Have had storms/wind that totally demolished a canvas shed years ago. Don't have garage for storage.
You two did such a great job making your patio so pretty have inspired me to do more for our porch and deck.
Enjoy rest of week Always enjoy your blog posts.
Yes, we do have a HOA and the only reason I was allowed to change the color is because it is the back of the house and no one can actually see the color change!!
DeleteThanks so much for taking the time to stop by and to comment. I can not find any other way to get in touch with you so I am doing it here, hoping you will see this.
Hugs,
Deb
Good job you two, things are looking great!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog today. I love all the work and creativity you two have put into the patio. It's very cheerful and welcoming. My husband and I have a saying about work around the house: "One thing leads to another!" lol I am following along now and look forward to seeing more.
ReplyDeleteI love this patio project. The colors are beautiful and it looks like a great place to relax.
ReplyDeleteYour patio and yard always look so great. I am so glad it is finally spring. Now if it would just stop raining!
ReplyDeleteJoy@Books&Life

ReplyDeleteYou have been a busy bee!!!! Everything looks so nice all freshened up! I got all my pots planted with my annuals but now have decided to add more:) I'll look forward to seeing the completed project!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, I just had to pin that gorgeous wreath with the pink flowers. I love it! You and Joe have been working hard. It's worth it though, isn't it? :)
ReplyDeleteCheerful and amazing!
ReplyDeleteAll of your plant stands are incredible! Thanks for sharing with us at Funtastic Friday, Debbie!
ReplyDeleteWell, I just read Part 2, so then I had to click on Part 1. Looks like I went backwards -- ha-ha. You've done such wonderful work with all the painting and sprucing up everything on your patio. It looks great! Enjoy warm weather in your charming retreat!
ReplyDeleteYour patio refresh project is looking great, Debbie!Everything freshly painted gives it a welcoming look. Thanks for sharing! Pinning to my Outdoor Decor Board. I'll be featuring this at the next Brag About It Party.
ReplyDeleteYour patio looks nice and fresh for spring! I can completely relate to the "might as well...." mentality! Thanks for sharing @Vintage Charm!
ReplyDeleteGiving you a feature this morning, Debbie! Lovely patio project. Thanks so much for coming to the party each and every week! Be sure to hop on over to www.vintandco.com/blog
ReplyDeleteWell, you have been BUSY!
ReplyDeleteI am interested in the concrete painting. I need to spiff up our back porch and paint is much cheaper than having stone laid.
